One week till Christmas and..................

I am having a hard time getting into the shopping/holiday spirit. Don't get me wrong but I just can't get into the gift buying/decorating, hustle and bustle of it all. I want to be with people and celebrate and have a good time but I just can't get into the material aspect of the holiday season. Am I the only one who feels this way? I just think that since I have no small kids to buy/celebrate with, doing all this shopping/getting into debt is totally worthless and unnecessary to buy gifts f

Building The Set

Today was a long & exhausting but fun day. We all met at the storage building at 10am to help load the truck with the items needed to build the set as well as furnishings like a desk, chairs, tables, etc. After the truck was loaded we all went to the Conservation League which is where our production is being held to build the set. It's amazing how an empty open room will be transformed into a theater complete with stage, lighting, curtain and all. Here are some shots I took with my camer

First Rehearsal on the actual Set

This will be a short entry as I have to leave shortly for our first Dress Rehearsal, Yay!!!! Last night was our first time on the actual stage using lighting, curtains, everything but costumes. I just had to share what I thought was a funny moment: Them: Susan you need to go into the light Me: No, I don't want to! lol Them: But you have to go into the light Me: But I'm blinded by it Them: That's right then, that's how it's supposed to be, you must go into the light! Me: N

Remembering 9/11

"September 11th" Another anniversary is here to remind us all of a harsh tragedy that happened 4 years ago. The World Trade Center was my favorite place. Whenever I flew home the plane would always fly by it or if I was driving I'd see it from New Jersey, either way I knew that I was almost home. It was always a comfort when it was within sight and at the same time brought a feeling of excitement. I guess that being a New York City girl, I will always have a bond with this big amazing

Pink's New Music Video

I love music but have never really been a big fan of Pink, until today. I have to tell you that I've heard her new song called "Stupid Girl" and wasn't really sure what I thought about it till I saw this video. I am LMAO as this video is the best, it is so funny and very true at the same time. I hope it makes it to the top and stays there for some time as it really sends a positive message out for young girls. If you have not had a chance to see it, you can view a stream of it here: Clicky

Hold On To Your Grocery Shopping Cart!

I am not a fan of grocery shopping but I usually go on a Sunday to do my weekly shopping. I needed to pick up lots of "odd things" this time such as spices and such. You know the kind of items you'd not normally buy more then a couple times a year and are never in the same location as you found them last time . Our local store here is forever rearranging things and even their own employees are never really sure where things were relocated. I was just about done with my shopping when I reme

Happy First Day Of Spring!

At least thats what the calendar says . When I left this morning it was cold windy and snowy, so much for spring Currently the temp is about 26F or -4C but the sun is out and the snow gone. I am still surprised we've not had a huge snowfall this winter. I feel like it's waiting out there, lurking and going to hit us when we least expect it. I can't wait to feel the warmth of the summer sun and at this time of year I start to get impatient as I'm so weary of the cold, drab weather. At le

Just A Quick Update

Well I've been feeling pretty good although I've been going a little stir crazy, not used to being restricted but so be it . I am allowed to walk on the ball of my foot, just not put any weight on the heel and I can walk as much as I can tolerate, ok, he doesn't know me very well, I did escape yesterday and today for a bit, walked the whole mall yesterday , don't tell anyone, lol. I've found it very hard sleeping at night and I think it's because I'm not expending any energy but last ni

It's Good To Be Back In A Routine......

I just have to say how wonderful it feels to get back into a "normal" routine. I have made it to the gym 3 days in a row now. It's amazing how long it takes to build up strength and stamina but losing it happens so quickly. I was a little frustrated the first day back which was Sunday as while I was on the elliptical, my heart rate was climbing and getting too high despite the fact that I didn't feel like I was working that hard. I listened to the monitor and just stood where I should be as

The Finale!

Well Saturday night was our final performance and it was great. I couldn't help but to feel excited knowing that it would be the best yet as everyone was ready to give it their all. At the same time there is also that feeling of sadness, that we would not be together anymore, everything was coming to an end. We have spent so many hours together and even though we're exhausted, we ran on pure adrenaline and motivated eachother with a renewed excitement each performance. To say this was an awe

Just received these in the mail and I thought I'd share as they're better than the ones originally posted Feels like it was so long ago, I was totally lost last weekend as it was the first one home in a month . I didn't quite know what to do with myself as I kept feeling like I should be somewhere!

It's Snowing again! Summer Snow That Is!

Now before you think I've lost my mind this is what I refer to as our summer snow. Every year at the beginning of summer the Cottonwood or Poplar Trees (known as both here) bloom and go into seed. If you have never experienced this, you're lucky, as it makes an awful mess all over the place. These trees have long white fuzzy blooms that disect into little fuzzies and blow all over the place. They are particularly annoying if you're trying to do things outside like stain a deck, paint your

Can't Help But To Feel Sad...........

I love trees, flowers, gardens, etc. My neighborhood is fairly new but established, most houses are 15 yrs old or younger and there aren't very many trees around as it had been a farm previously. My next door neighbor just cut down their one and only established tree. I just watched from my desk here 3 men take down, and destroy in 10 mins what took nature at least 40 years to grow, I can now see my neighbor's (kitty corner from me) yard which had been totally blocked previously and it's

A Random Act Of Kindness

I just have to blog about this, as it has often been said that there isn't enough of kindness and people don't take the time out to help or recognize one another. I went to dinner tonight to the local Chinese restaurant I have been going to for years and behind me was a Mother with her 7, yes I said 7, adopted disabled children. The children ranged in disablilities and ages from 5-14 and everything from being blind to emotional disorders. This family does come in regularly and usually Dad

Just A General Update

Well I haven't blogged in a bit so I will make this a quick update. I was almost hit by a pick up truck a week ago Friday by a guy in such a rush, he couldn't wait to back out of his spot I went grocery shopping and had just loaded my groceries into the car, started to put my cart back, and well this idiot starts to back up as I'm crossing. I realize he isn't even looking and continues to back out almost hitting me , I had to jump out of the way and leave the cart which he bumps as

Stct's 2nd Birthday/anniversary

A Special Message To My Members! On Friday August 11th, STCT will be celebrating our second birthday/anniversary! Wow, I can not believe how fast the time has gone and how much we've grown. We still are "technically" considered a small forum because of our number of members, but what members we have. Our content and post count far exceed forums many times our size. I love that we are a smaller board as it allows us to be more personal/friendly with each other. We'

Community Activities And Other Random Things

Well it's been awhile since I've updated and I'm kind of getting a little overwhelmed so this entry may kind of go all over the place so my apologies now . As you all know, I belong to a community service club which I have been an officer on the board now for several years. At our last board meeting a couple of weeks ago, the current President made a comment to me that I haven't been taking an active enough role as VP , this was not taken well by me, or the other board member there. My

Cocoa

So I need to run a few errands before I head out to my youth group meeting and as I turn out of my tract onto a semi busy road, there's my mailman standing outside his truck holding a small dog and looking rather lost. I stop on the road and ask him if he's found a new friend for himself. He responds that he stopped to catch this little dog and it almost got hit by a passing car. I asked if he wanted me to take him and he was thrilled as we've known each other for several years. He knows how

Just An Ordinary Day.......

or so it started out so. I went to work just like always and when I arrived, my manager arrived at the same time. We went to open the gate to go into the store (work at the mall) and this obnoxious odor started to come out. We looked at eachother and didn't know quite what to say. We weren't quite sure what it was, just that it was horrible, smelled like the sewer backed up and it was throughout the store. So we went to make the bank deposit stopping off at Eckards to pick up some air fresh

Showtime!

I know I hadn't updated for a bit but the play officially opens tonight, with last night being a final dress rehearsal in front of an audience All went well and I'm really looking forward to tonight. I did manage a few pictures, hoping to get some more tonight as everyone was so tired yesterday, myself included. The pictures I have are from set build last Sunday as well as myself with our director and other characters from the show.

Wow, didn't realize it's been that long....

There have been so many changes to my life since I've last posted, some I'd prefer to keep personal but they include everything from health, to job, to relationship status, to residence, you name it..... Lets just say after a number of years being unhappy, I finally found the courage to make some changes in my life and although it scares me some, I am better off for it. Never let anyone tell you that you can't.... too easy to prove them wrong.

Opening Night!

Well last night was the unofficial opening night, with tonight being the official. Difference is last night was a free performance for seniors and tonight will be a paying audience. We had about 60 show up and everything was great! It was amazing to actually be able to perform what we had been rehearsing for so many nights. Everyone was so psyched and ready for this, we just fed off of eachother's energy. I can't believe that I wasn't even the slightest bit nervous during the show. I am lo

Crazy Neighbors

Hmm, lets see. Someone started a post about crazy next door neighbors and I thought hmm, I’ve had my fair share of a few and it's probably best to just blog about some of my experiences . Here goes, and yes, it's all true! Brooklyn- Crazy E and her teenage kids , where do I even begin? This woman had gotten an above ground pool in her yard. Every year it was the same story for about 5-6 years . They would drain the pool from the year before as the water was disgusting and smell

Winter

Well anyone who knows me knows how I dread winter; just hate it. The summer we had this past year was spectacular, something we hadn't seen in several years and I loved every moment of it. I started sitting out in the sun in mid April tanning my goose bumps but I didn't care as the winter before was so snowy and cold. We were so lucky to see the snow recede as early as it did and I for one was not going to miss a single day of sunshine basking in it's warmth and radiance. This brings me ba
