FRIDAY 11th Mar: Sniffy soggy Spring

Cato: We had to go early for our walk today, so Dad could come with us before he had to go to work.  And we all got in the car and set off.  But then we sat for ages in a car queue which was very boring.  In the end Mum said 'Right!  Change of plan!  we won't go to the Lake Park today.' and she turned the car around. So that meant it was a surprise Foxy walk today. Mum and Dad said the grass was too soggy for huge human feet, but it was OK for proper Shih Tzu feet.  Although we ma

New washing machine

Cato: We did important DIY stuff today, with both Mum and Dad. It was VERY exciting. The washy machine has been making very loud washy machine noises for a while.  And Mum finally had The Discussion with Dad about it.  Cos the engineer inside the phone said it was too expensive to be worth mending. So new washy machine is coming tomorrow.  And today we all got ready!  Me and Mum and Tara did a specially careful poo pickup in the garden cos washymachines come in through the ba

My MrMcT treatment

Cato: Hello Aunties!  Now that Tara has stopped fussing about her feet, I can tell you about my visit to my new VetDoctor.  Mum says he is called MrMcT which is short for him being a McTimoney somethingorother. He was nice. Tara didn't come in with me!  Yay!  So she wasn't squeaking and getting in the way and wanting fuss, and I had Mr MrMcT all to myself.  He got down on the floor to see me, which I liked, so I didn't have to stand on that horrible high vet table. He did stu

SATURDAY 20th Feb: Tracking

Mum: Missy's Big Cat Hunt was sooo exciting and inspiring , that we chose the beach today and set out to improve our hunting and tracking skills. We started with a big breakfast in our favourite beach cafe, with sausages all round - to build our strength for the coming trek.  This is when they were watching Dad place the order. This is when I (Mum) looked out of the window at the pier and the beach.  A very grey day today.  Tide out.  Overcast sky.  No wind.

Lamb hearts YUM

Cato: So Mum woz doing lamb hearts tonight for our tea. She stood chopping them up for AGES.  They have these lovely chewy pipe things on the top end, and Mum was cutting them off and throwing them for us.  I was good and sat on the rug, like I am supposed to, and Tara was almost good and sat closer, near the water bowl.  So I got extra bits, and Tara didn't   until she came and sat with me, then we got the same amount of bits.   Then, at the end, we each had a nice big juicy bit

TUESDAY 19th Apr: Ghostly Exorcism... or not... ?

Dear Miss Missy,  Could me and Tara please beg your kind assistance in checking out for the ghost and babee ghost? Mum finished work an hour early today and burst into a frenzy of nasty stinky cleaning and stuff.  She used the stuff that smells of orange, and the sucky vacuum, and the vinegary window cleaning stuff, and it was awful.  She kept moving us, and things, and wiping and fussing and making more of a mess.  And every time we started to help (clearing out the paper she dropped,

Our holiday

Cato: Hello Aunties! Mum has finally got our holibob pics sorted, so I can show you!  Mum says that this time she kept forgetting to take pics, so there aren't many.  Phew!  She can go overboard on pics sometimes, can't she? Anyway, it was a longlonglong way away.  Jasmine didn't come.  She went to stay with Auntie Holly and her sister Dolly, so we didn't have to put up with her trampling and fidgeting in the car crate.  That was good.  Though I don't like it when the pack splits

WEDNESDAY 14th December: Day out with Pops and Nana

Tara:  I got to sit on the car seat with Dad and Nana!  All the way there!  And all the way back!  Cato sat ON Dad's knee, but my spot woz better, cos I got fussed by Nana too!  It woz ACE!!! We went to drop Pops and Nana in town, and then went on to My Favourite Walk in All the World!  Look! Lots of pics today.  This is when I woz duck hunting.  But they were all hiding. The mud was lovely and squishy, cos it had melty leaves all squishifying in it. That is the ben

Holiday 5: Lanhydrock (aka cow poo day)

Cato: Hello Aunties.  Today I am blogging about some great big human den called Lanhydrock.  It was enormous.  And I was a bit tired.  We did a lotlotlot of walking on holiday, and I was worn out by this time.  I mean, I do love sniffing, but all this hot walking and sun and new places and Tara bouncing is very tiring. Mum says that Lanhydrock is so humungously enormous that it has its own park, with cows and sheep that poo all over the place.  There was horse poo too, I am sure of it,

Our holiday den

Cato: Hello Aunties.  Sorry I haven't been blogging much.    It is cos of my tail.   It isn't right.    It is like a puppy tail.  And I am not a puppy, am I?  I am an Important Person in the Pack.  A Scout and a Hunter, and I shouldn't have a puppy tail.   I am second in charge after Mum, and above Tara.  But I have a silly little puppy tail at the moment.  It is very sad and it gets me down a bit.    That and the horrible harness. So Mum and Dad decided to take me on holiday to s

Train back from Chester

Cato: Hello Aunties. Mum says I have to finish our holiday bloggings so that I can tell you the exciting new stuff.  Like the bird feeder and my new bone. So here is more stuff about hot stinky Chester. Mum and Dad did all the boring Cathedral stuff, and then wanted to go off walking round the town.  :(  But it was too hot and tiring for me.  And we had already walked for AGES.  So I sat down.  And Dad said he would carry me.  And Mum said NO.  And I stayed sitting.  And in t

I’m going on holiday!!! Tomorrow!!!

Tara: It is going to be in a holiday den with a whole field for me to sniff and widdle in.  And a spiral staircase for me to Bounce up and down.  We are going to Do Stuff every day.  Old sniffy pubs and churches and footpaths and stuff.  Sausages and steak!  Every day!  And scrambled eggs!  Dad says there is a Marmoset Sanctuary Place! It is a longlonglong way away.  So Mum and Dad are going to drive me there.   And we are going mountaining and adventuring and exploring.  It is so far

TUESDAY 2nd Feb: Sun, wind and reed seed heads

Sidney: They have been re-doing the roof again.  Two rolls of tape now.  But there was a horrible wind, and nothing fell off, so maybe they can leave it alone now?  I spent all yesterday asleep which was nice and peaceful.  But bedtime is turning into a bit of a problem.  Now that The Brat is old enough they think they can trust her not to wee on the bed, they are allowed on the big bed for a few minutes before Lights Out.  We used to have a lovely peaceful routine.  I would get there first

SUNDAY 12th June: Mum's home!!!

Cato: We woz miserable without her.  We tried not to be, and we do love Dad, but it isn't the same, is it?  And we didn't know if she was OK.  It is safer in the pack, isn't it?  So yesterday, when Dad tried to take us for a walk, I didn't want to go.  And I sat down on my bottom lots and lots, and he carried me a bit, until we turned for home, and then I pulledandpulledandpulled cos I wanted to get home to see if Mum was there waiting.  And when she wasn't I had to run around and check eve

SATURDAY 9th Apr: Sausage Promenade

Tara:    So Mum has stopped being boring and came with us for a walk.  Sausages first: Then walking on the Prommy thing, cos we aren't allowed on the beach any more.  Til it gets cold.  But there were lots of interesting sniffs and stuff, and Mum and Dad were UNFAIR cos they kept pulling me away from chips and bits of bun and icecream dribbles and all sorts of good stuff.  This is me finding a chip. And we met Nell.  Mum and Dad went all coo-ey and goo-ey and funny and said s

MONDAY 5th December: New Bed Day!!!

Cato:   Oooh Tara, look wot I found! Tara:  Wossat?  Is that...? Cato:  I think so!  Look!  There's your stinky bed in it.  And your name.  In PINK! Tara: Cor!  And look.  There's your name in GREEN.  And your stinky bed.  And... look... there are treats on it. Cato:  Where!  Where are MY treats?  Gerroff!  Go sniff your own treats!  Go on!  Shoo! Tara:  But.. but... I saw them first! Mum:  Tara love, look what is in your bed - more treats...

Cato would qualify for Mensa

Mum: Tara found a bone under the couch this evening. I am not proud of this, but there we are.  I run the kind of house where bones are, occasionally, found under couches.  At least it made Tara happy. One bone. Two dogs.  Finders keepers.  So obviously Cato wasn't quite so cheerful. It took a while, but eventually he managed to organise things to his satisfaction:  First he sat and watched Tara chewing.  Then he sat and had a think.  Then he went over to the doorway and sat

Wed 24th May: Promendadoing

Cato: We all went for a pack walk, to the French Place so Mum could have a hot choc thing.  But it was closed! So we had to go for a proper sniffy walk instead.  I like it when the French Place is closed. Mum says you should see how brown the water is.  That is cos of the rain, apparently.   I wanted to go on the beach, but Mum said no.  Cos of The Rules, and us not beaching til it gets cold again. My tail looks good, doesn't it? It was a bit grey and Mum

Walks with Grandad

Cato: Today we are going to show you the Around Grandma and Grandad Walks.  It was great!  G&G live in a village (Mum says) and villages have more fields and stuff than where Mum and Dad live.  So instead of town sniffs, there are more countryside sniffs.  And more Hunting sniffs. These are some Shetland ponies that live near G&G.  Mum says that Shetlands are like Tzus.  Small yet perfectly formed.  I wanted to meet them, but they were on the other side of a very deep ditch.  E

Wed 15th Nov: Tunneling with Mum

Cato: Dad had to go do shifty stuff, so we took Mum round the big lake and down the tunnel.  It was just starting to muddify, and the sky was really grey. To start with, Mum said 'We are sticking to the path today, cos of all that rain we had.'   But then we walked past the tunnel entrance, and she stopped and had a think.  And she decided that maybe we could try the tunnel and see if we sank in the mud. But it really wasn't very muddy at all!  I think Tara was a

WEDNESDAY 18th May: Big Bed Night!

Cato:  No walk day cos it is raining  horrible wet soggy miserable boring rain. But that is not important.  Wot IS important is that we got to sleep ALL NIGHT on the Big Bed. ALL NIGHT!!!!! It was fab. Dad woz out doing work stuff all evening, and we had to go upstairs without him.  That is always fun, cos Mum has to get one of us under each arm, with her mobile phone tucked in her bra, and then turn off the light switch with her nose. Then we go upstairs and wait on the

FRIDAY 19th August: New Beach!!!

Mum: Pics are now working for me.  let me know if they aren't working for you.  Mind you, haven't a clue how to sort it if there is still a problem!   Cato: Exciting!  we found a new part of the world!  And a new beach!  It was marvellously sniffy! We started off with a nice sausage breakfast, with Dad.And then walked along the seafront bit, where we aren't allowed down on the beach.  We walked past the nice biscuit place, where we get biscuits and Mum and Dad have borin

TUESDAY 16th Mar: The Thot Plickens

MUM:   Official Apology, on this Day 15th March this Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Sixteen, by Mum and Dad and Cato, and OK Tara too, (athough she isn't really interested) for False Accusations and False Judgements Regarding the CatPee DogBed Polluting Incident to Sidney Cat (Ruler of All He Surveys), of this Residence. The Apology retracts ALL implied or stated criticisms meted out to said Feline, which are hereby unreservedly withdrawn, with no lingering doubts or

I found a BONE

Cato: I found a BONE.  It is very very big.  And it is all MINE. Mum has been messing with bones up at the top of the kitchen.  Something to do with drying them slowly so they don't go too stinky (Mum: using dehydrator and venison ribs) and today, when I was coming in from my mid morning Garden Patrol, I saw it. In the middle of the kitchen floor. It is ENORMOUS. It was difficult to carry. But I couldn't leave it there for Tara to find. So I picked it up and ha

FRIDAY 29th Apr: Ping Pong Pack

Cato:   We had the bestest walk all week!  Mum wasn't stuck sitting at her computer today, so we went out for a Pack Walk.   Pack Walks are the best, cos everyone is together, and safer, and we can all make sure we are all alright.  Tara is too silly to understand this.  Anyway, Dad wanted to go to the little square park again, cos last time we went we saw Meg and played with her, and he wanted to see her again.  Meg is a 14 week Jack Russell puppy and I liked her a lot.  Dad says she is my
