FRIDAY 12th Feb: Cherry blossom

Crinkly

Cato:

Very exciting day!  We went to the Small Park (with the green fox's bum) and Mum did her usual boring picture stuff.  And Tara did her usual silly bench climbing.  And we met Auntie Carol!  She is the Auntie who runs the puppy classes that both Tara and I went to when we were really really little.  And I got really excited to see her, and ran around play-bowing and wagging my butt off.  She picked me up and snuggled me, and remembered me too!  No picture of her though, because of something called privacy.  But I can remember her scent, so that is enough.

Here is the park.  Mum kept looking at tree bark.  She says they are beautiful.  No idea why:

This is the path round the big square green bit that the boys play football in.

Mum says soon the trees will be covered in cherry blossom.  This is the first of it.  Hope we don't have a cold snap, to knock it back.

Tara:

Yes.  Yes.  But what about mee!  Did you see me attacking Cato on the path?

And this is me on a picnic table!

And this is the best joke of all!  Hahahaha!

Mum does put us on leads if there are people playing ball in the green bit.  And she puts us on leads if there are lots of little humans, or interesting stuff like that.  But the rest of the time we have the run of the park.  Anyway, the park belongs to us dogs for most of the year.  Non-doggie humans only appear in the Summer, when it is too hot to run about, so I don't mind then.

Sidney:

Chicken thigh.  I have taken the whole thing upstairs.  Haven't decided where to leave the tough bone bit.

Mum hissed at me last night!  Teeth bared!  I got off the bed in a huff.  How unreasonable.  Totally unprovoked.  I only play pounced on her arm when it moved the covers.  And my claws weren't really snagged in her sleeve.  And my eyes weren't really like saucers, in full hunting mode.  It was just her imagination.  Really.

Of course, if she wants me to sleep all the time and be a slug-like lap cat, she should open the window more, shouldn't she?

Then I would be too tired to launch surprise attacks at 3am.

Best story yet! Love your park with all the interesting bark...I like those kinds of trees too! Those cherry blossoms are so pretty hope the frost holds out...We have gotten heavy frost every night but we are closer to the Pennines than you two are. Pip and Abby are curled up on the warm water bed sleeping away these frostily nights but come morning I wake to find them sleep on me! Argg Abby don't lay there you make me want to pee :roflmao:

Wonder where and when mom is going to step on that chicken bone later tonight....you better hide Sidney she's gonna be mad again :roflmao:

How I love your park. And I don't blame Mummy letting you off the lead when there isn't anyone about, otherwise that wouldn't be good use of the space, if no one was to use it.

I love to see the blossom on the trees. Spring is just around the corner!! Yay!!

:coffee: How many areas near your house do you have to walk? Each and everyone of them is beautiful and winter pictures no less can only imagine what they look like in the summer.  Your two sure have great places to get there walks. A sure sign of spring when you see cherry blossoms.........love flowering trees.  Hope they don't get nip by a frost. Spring can not come soon enough for me. A low of 17 last night.......UGH!!!!

How beautiful the trees are!  Gorgeous pics!  Cato and Tara are so funny and so stinkin' cute!  I just love them.  Sidney, you're a tiny feline terror. :hysterical: I can see your big bug eyes now.  Did you do that butt wiggle before you pounced on your Mom's arm? :judy:

It is a great place to live.

You have seen about 2/3 of the walking spots so far.

Within walking distance of the house we have one beach, the dog walking field, a small (boring) plain park, the cemetery and streets in 4 directions.

Within 10 mins drive we have the Park with the Lake, the Small Park with the Fox statue, the Boating Lake, 2 more beach walks, 2 small parkified woods and a centre of town park.

It is a small seaside town, mostly built in the Victorian/Edwardian era, when they liked public parks and leisure opportunities, and also liked attacting and profiting from tourists who came from the big cities inland, by train, for day trips.

I work from home nearly all the time now, so I can get to most of these places, walk, and get back in my lunch break.  This is the first year I have been able to do it, and I LOVE it.  Last year, I was in an office from 8am til 5pm, and I only saw daylight on Saturday and Sunday between October and March.  this year I get to enjoy these fabulous places, with the mutts, almost every day.  I am profoundly grateful, and appreciate every second.

We try to rotate, where possible, because the dogs get very bored if they go to the same place too often.  And so do I! lol.

This winter has been so mild, we have spring flowers and trees budding all over the place.  It will be stunning - provided we don't get a cold snap!  This is the first year I can remember when we have only had about half a dozen frosts all winter.

But seriously, don't expect it to be amazinginly different in the Summer - just a bit greener.  This part of the world has nearly as much summer rain as winter rain! it is just a bit warmer. :roflmao:
