WEDNESDAY 23rd Mar: Bye bye beach

Cato:

Mum said we HAD to go and say goodbye to the beach today, cos on Friday it belongs to holiday makers and dogs are not allowed. :(

We can still go on the other beaches, and on the salt marshes, but not to the nice beach with the pier.

So we walked all the way and then had a sad goodbye breakfast.  The sausage didn't taste sad, but it was sad when it was over.  See how my bits are smaller than Tara's bits?  Not Fair!!!

Mum says she will have a word with Aunty Jane about not having Sunday breakfasts here any more - cos it will be cruel to be so close to the beach but not allowed on it.  But I reassured her that we will manage to suffer the torture of not going on the beach so long as she gives us lots of sausage instead.

This is Mum's coffee

Tara:

This is the beach.  Same as always.  But it was good to bounce on.  And there were little humans around with buckets and spades too.  And a huge white labrador doing an even huger poo.  I wanted to sniff it but they were both scary big.

The donkeys were there, and I sneaked up behind them, to try and sniff their bottoms!  But the donkey lady stopped them, and Mum called me away.  She said I might scare the donkeys.  But that is just... impossible.  Donkeys are ENORMOUS!!! They couldn't be scared of me.  Mum muttered something about it being a mixed blessing if my confidence grows.  But I got a treat for coming when I was called, so I didn't mind.

We went up this ramp to go home.  Mum says we will be back when it gets cold again.

Mum:

One pre-loved and carefully decorated sand castle:

And then, like two Godzillas approaching New York...

They are off to DogSitterLady Kim tomorrow at 7.30am.  I wonder if they will be as exhausted this time...?

So sorry you won't be able to visit this beach until it gets cold again.  It is such a beautiful place to be.  Your Mum's coffee looks really good. :)

Jo, what is the round brick structure in the fifth picture? Hubby and I were trying to guess what it was. Thanks X

ha ha!

I can understand your puzzlement.

It is a fake Victorian 'castle'.  They built it at around the same time the railway arrived here, and the tourists started flocking to the place for day trips.  I imagine someone thought it would add heritage and interest to the sea front.  They also added the Promenade and some Pleasure Gardens at the same time.  Now, the Promenade is fundamental to the place, the Pleasure Gardens have been built over by an Arcade, and the Castle is kind of ignored, but one in three isn't bad, after 150 years. :roflmao:
