Tired and sleepy

I am very, very tempted to start crating my cats at night.

I think as a species they must have hired some very good PR people to convince us that they're easier pets than dogs.  It's all lies. ;)

That is all.

See!  We all knew it!  The cats cause havoc and everyone thinks the "dog did it"!  It's a vast feline conspiracy.

Why are you tired and sleepy.........?

My husband once had a cat who's favorite night-time game was to take a golf ball to the top of the stairs and drop it, then watch it roll down the steps (making a nice satisfying "thump" as it hit each one).  He would do this until he would get out of bed, at which point kitty and golf ball were nowhere to be found.  Then, just as he was falling back asleep it would start-up again.  Took him weeks to actually LOCATE the golf ball and get rid of it.  After that, kitty would leave a "gift" for him by the bedroom door every night...

I'm tired and sleepy because the felines decided to tap dance across the hardwoods all night long.  Well, they did pause occasionally -- just long enough for us to doze off.  Then the little fiends started their dancing routine again.  And as a lovely finale one of them decided to hurl in spectacular fashion right around 4:00 a.m.

I suppose I should be thankful they haven't (yet) found a stray golf ball. ;)

Toed (prev cat) went slightly senile at 12 years old.  By 16 years he was wandering the house wailing all night.

Poor Mr C.  I was used to it - he wasn't.  The man is a saint.

By 17 yrs old we were tearing our hair out!  But I found a wonderful article online about senile cats - and low and behold, guess what it recommended for wailers?  Yup.  You have guessed it!  Crating.

We got him the biggest crate we could (big enough for a Great Dane) and decked it out with bed, food, water, toys, catnip, litter... and he LOVED it.  All that wandering had been him feeling lost.  By shutting him in, he felt secure.

We had two more lovely years with him. :birthday_toast:and EVERYONE had a good night's sleep.  lol.
