WEDNESDAY 1st June: Windy but exciting

Cato:

It was VERY windy today.  Mum nearly didn't take us out, cos she thought we might get blown away.  But we asked and asked, and Tara was being such a pest, what with the sausage dramas, and beating me up, that Mum said she needed to wear her out.

We woz both pretty desperate, and hauled Mum along quite sharpish!

Once we were at Our Field, we just had to RUN and SNIFF and BOUNCE.  Even Tara couldn't ruin it.

See the grasses and stuff all leaning sideways at the back of the picture?  That is how windy it woz.  Mum nearly got blown over!

I won!  Hah!  Tara says I cheat on these steps, but I don't.  I just have an attention span longer than a gnat.

Tara:

This is me looking cute coz I know Mum has treats.

This is Cato not looking as cute as me.

I do feel better now.  Getting the wind up under your tail really helps, doesn't it?  But I am STILL STARVING.

Mum:

We walked home through the cemetery, and I saw these.  Lovely, plain, and affectionately remembered, side by side.  Mr and Mrs Johnson, died in the 1880s after a long life together.

Lovely tree

And then we walked home down the slippy leaf road, and I looked up at this miserable house for maybe the 50th time, and actually looked at it for once.

For sale.  Used to be a house of multiple occupation, being sold off because it needs so much work done on it.

Tragic.

When I got home, I looked it up online.

Wish we could afford it, and renovate it... it could be marvellous again!

Reall,y pleased the rain stopped for you and you was able to go out.. It's been non stop rain here today,,,

I can see the grass at an angle, that was windy.. But looks like you had lots of fun. That house looks like it would be amazing when done up. All those rooms and a lovely big garden...

Your walks are SO much more interesting than our walks.  Like you....I love old cemeteries and the touching headstones one finds there.  Even when there is not a lot of information......when you see infants who died soon after birth or even as a toddler - it is so dramatic compared to the way most of us live today.  And the tributes are so lyrical and sweet.

For ignorant non-travelers like me.......can you convert the sales price of the antique treasure up for sale at 189,950 pounds into American dollars?

Aww love your cemetery walks and the gorgeous headstones! Cato and Tara I'm amazed you two didn't get blown over in that wind as starved as you two are! :roflmao: Love the house, thanks so much for the link, totally enjoyed reading about it and seeing the layout!! :)

@Marlene  at the moment there is 1.45 $ to the 1 £

So that makes the house about $275,000

But I would estimate an additional 75-125,000 $ to get it perfect.  So call it a round $400,000 to sort it.  Not that I know what I am talking about.

But it would need 2 awesome period bathrooms to be fitted.  A matching kitchen, 7 period fireplaces and working fires (some b*****d has not only ripped out the fires and the hearths but they have taken the chimneys down too) or pretend fires, a proper modern but ancient looking range in the kitchen, plus all the usual cosmetic decoration and window sorting.  And a total rewire.  Oh, and some of the doors are industrial fire doors.  Criminal!  No idea if there is damp, or anything...

Of course, if we had all that space, and a bigger walled garden, we would have to have a bigger pack, too. :roflmao:

Pipe dreams, all of it.

Roll on our Lottery win, eh?

Well it was nice to open up the blog page and see Cato and Tara none the worse for wear back to their daily routine........sure looked windy. I bet your still waiting for Crystal Paw Sausages to show up by post? I have one curious question in this park that your in today does anyone do mowing or is it left to just grown wild? Love the cemetery........the headstones are a work of art.

I had to show Bill the house for sale.........the first words out of his mouth.....How Much Is It?.........He loved the detail........just not the fact that your neighbor is right on you...........I thought for a second we were going to be neighbors.......so you all have the Lottery too?  Your comment about bigger space....bigger garden........Yes does result in a bigger pack..............

That is a field, not a park.  Cato would politely correct you, if he were here, :roflmao: but he and Tara are off with Kim the Dogsitter today.  (we have decided to send them for a day every week or two, so they stay used to it).

The field is actually an old playing field for a college.  There are the decayed remains of a tennis court too.  I think it may even have had a running track once.

When the college shut down (a good 10 years ago, I think) all the windows were boarded, and the Field was made available for dog walkers.  Maintenance of field and buildings fell to the local council.  So it gradually fell into disrepair, and the field got neglected.  Now it is mowed maybe once or twice a year, I think, and the path is kept clear by dogs and their walkers...  Within the last year the College has been bought by developers and they are turning it into an Old People's Home complex.  Adding extra rooms and so on.  Massive building project.  No idea what they will do with Our Field, but the pups are both praying we can keep it!

Re Daisy Villa (gorgeous name, eh?) I have even gone so far as to look the place up on google maps.  looks awesome from above.  And the two houses are not quite aligned.   They look a foot apart at the front, but butt up together at the back.  The gap at the front is brick filled. It is odd.  Never seen it before.  the rear extension is then at an angle from the house.  Would love to know which was built first.

I am seriously tempted to ask to view the place as if I were a prospective buyer - but that would be mean, because I would REALLY be a time waster :judy:

- it would be good to have you and The Stinkers as near neighbours though!

Those cute faces are just adorable!  If you don't mind my asking, why are those steps out in the middle of nowhere.  Are they attached to anything?  Just puzzled me is all.

I always enjoy the pics of that graveyard.  It is such a nice one.  I love viewing those old stones.

The steps are a mystery.  No idea.  Maybe if the grass was cut really short, we would see something to give a clue, but without that, no suggestions at all.

They are sleeping the knocked out exhausted sleep they always have after a Kim walk.  Lol.

6 hrs so far, woke up for a pee trip and their supper, otherwise dead to the world.  Bless.
