WEDNESDAY 6th July: Field and cemetery

Tara:

Mum forgot to do my hair today!  Hahaha!  She said I looked like a hooligan.  And Dad says I look like Einstein.  Whoever that is.

I think I look like a PIRATE, cos my hair covers my eye like an eyepatch.  But can you tell Mum to do my hair properly tomorrow?  I like my sprouts.

We walked with Dad after Mum's boring work finished, but it was still hot.  Cato wimped out.  And he went on strike in the cemetery AGAIN.

See?

Did you see him?  He is that tiny dot to the right of the path and the left of the tree.  Lying down.

Dad wanted to carry him, but Mum and me just walked off, and Dad followed, and then Cato did too!

He caught us up eventually, and didn't try it on again.  Mum is tough on him because he deserves it, but I don't know why she is so mean and horrible to me sometimes.  Not fair!

I saw a squirrel in the cemetery too!  But I had Mum on the lead at the time, so couldn't chase it.  Pity.  I would have got it too!

Cato:

We did a hot long walk today.  With two water stops, and a sit down at the cemetery bench, but it was still a looooong hot way.

First we did the Slippy LEaf Road, on the shady side.  Then we did the cemetery, with treats and lots of photos.

There were some sniffs too

and we sat beside these people

on their special bench

I really needed a rest, so I lay down for a bit, but then they made me run to catch up, so I just got hotter.

and then we went to Our Field, and I was feeling a bit better ;) cos I managed to have a bounce

This is me having a nice long drink, and Tara lying there like a big lump and nearly knocking the water bowl over.  She is looking across the field and three huge Boxers that were charging about over there.  I don't think she wanted me to drink for long, in case they got close to us.

And then we came home.

I could have done with a lift from Dad, near the end, but Mum was with us, so no chance. :(

It would be good if we took the car next time, then I could just do the fun bits and not the boring lead stuff.  I wish humans paid more attention to where I am leading them.  But they are so big and clunky that they don't follow me properly.  I end up missing out on some sniffs!

Cato:

It was very scary and lonely, AuntiePipsMom.  they just kept walking off, and I had to run and run to catch up. :(

Maybe Mum could get a Bug, like Auntie @Sophie'sHaven  That would be nice.  I like being out in the sniffies, but I don't really like all the walking to get there, especially in the summer.  Mum says I used to like walking for milesandmilesandmiles but that was back when I was a pup, and now I am 3 I think I am getting OLD.

Yes, a golf cart would be very nice!  I had a hard time finding Cato in that pic as well.  He was a tiny, little dot!  I never would have found him without some hints.  Cato, YOU, getting old?  Naw!  3 years old isn't old little man!

Tara, I love your wild 80s hair! :hysterical:  You have been quite stylish back in the day! :judy:

I truly love the pics of the gravestones.  They are so interesting and offer so much information about those who lived long ago.  The newer shiny black ones were really interesting but I'll always love the really old ones the best.  The ones that are broken always make me sad.

Mum:  They make me sad too.  Especially when they have fallen into disrepair and you wonder if the children have themselves died or moved away. :(

The earliest dates I have seen so far are (I think) about 1803  ish.  But I may be mis-remembering.  And was that the birth date...?

I might look up the age of the cemetery.

Ooh Tara you Do look like Einstein! And you know he was Very smart too! ;) Love love this cemetery! Love seeing all of the old headstones and especially love the way they box the graves, don't think I've ever seen that here.
