MONDAY 16th May: Lake walk with Dad
Cato:
First I have to tell you about my exciting Garden Defence this morning. It was brill!
There was a strange monster at the end by the gate. Grey and dangerous looking!
It had obviously just come in, and was planning its attack! So I rushed over to stop it, and cornered it where it couldn't circle round me! And I barked and barked and barked until Mum and Tara came to back me up, then I held my ground while Mum faced the monster down. Once she had it under control, I checked it out properly, and then Mum disposed of the corpse.
Another triumphal outcome from my Patrolling!
(Mum: Er... yes Cato, if you say so... or you could see what really happened, here)
Then we took Dad out to the Big Lake and walked him round it. Dad is good at walking. He sets a nice pace (better than Mum who is very ssslllooooowwwww) but he tends to need a bit of help navigating. Me and Tara are going to take you round this walk together, cos we really had to help Dad with this one, on account of him trying to walk and take pics and stuff all together.
So we all set off together, but I got sniffing, and had to catch up
and Dad nearly got away from us when Tara was sniffing here
So we overtook him, and led off into the field.
Tara: and I was having a scratch. Cato says I look silly, but I don't. I look just like someone who can't take another step without having a scratch
This was us deciding which way next
And then Dad went the wrong way, and didn't follow us, and we had to come get him
But after that he started following us properly
Cato: Tara is better at keeping tabs on Dad than I am. She is always checking on him and organising him. I tend to focus on Mum more.
This is when we got him back to a path, but not that way!
This way!
By now, he was needing a rest and a treat. So we showed him a nice bench
Then we thought he would be able to cope with a bit more of off-path walking. He is slower, but he manages. At least there wasn't any mud for him to fall in. Humans are hopeless with mud!
Tara: This was interesting! Dad thinks they are platforms for fish. But fish don't need them. Fish live in the water. What does Dad know, eh?
and another bigger one!
There are usually swans here, but not today
We were just deciding which way to go, when Dad strides off like he knows where he is going That is never a good idea!!!
So I set off to scout things out properly and make sure he wasn't getting us lost.
It was all going so well, but she just had to attack. Sigh.
Anyway, we got him safely back to the car park eventually, and reminded him to eat and drink and sit and play Truffle Hound so he didn't collapse or die or fall down a hole or something.
Hopefully Mum can get away from her horrible work stuff and come with us tomorrow. cos it is a lot of responsibility getting him home safe again.
