Building The Set
Today was a long & exhausting but fun day. We all met at the storage building at 10am to help load the truck with the items needed to build the set as well as furnishings like a desk, chairs, tables, etc. After the truck was loaded we all went to the Conservation League which is where our production is being held to build the set. It's amazing how an empty open room will be transformed into a theater complete with stage, lighting, curtain and all. Here are some shots I took with my camera phone to give you a general idea of the work area we're in.
What you see in this shot is a couple of the guys starting to install a wall on the stage edge.
A couple of others working on the stage, yes it isn't all that big and 11 of us will be sharing it
This is an area which will be where the audience will sit at tables to watch the play. Everything is covered with tarps to protect the carpeting, we had to paint various things today and I would have taken another shot of the stage with all the walls up if I had not been covered in black paint . I will take some more shots tomorrow so you can see what the completed set looks like.
This is Rosie who is painting a mural of a mine shaft from an image someone found, she had just started it. I have to get a shot of the finished painting, I heard she is a wonderful artist . I was there till 5 today and even though it was a very busy and tiring day, it was still lots of fun. I will have to update hopefully tomorrow night as I'll be there from about 1- at least 5 again. It's so hard to believe that Thursday evening will be our first performance in front of an actual audience , it seemed to take so long to get here but the time is now going by so fast! I'm excited, scared, nervous and thrilled .
Untill then.................
