Mon 2nd Jan: Gull hunt!!!
Tara:
We went to the rocky beach today! It was ACE! We went in the car, and got all wet and salty, and chased birds and met Bess. It was fantabulous.
Look. Mum said the green stuff was really slippery. But that is just humans and their silly two foots. Me and Cato didn't notice any slippiness.
This is when I saw the beach, and was showing Mum. It was very exciting!
and this is the first big sticky out wooden thing. We don't go out there, cos the sand is all squidgy. We prefer rocks and climby bits, and birds to hunt!
See? Mum says I look like an Ewok here. I don't know wot an Ewok is, but they must be pretty, mustn't they?
This is Cato in the sun. He looks a bit grumpy, but I didn't bounce on him that hard. Honest!
Cato:
Hellow Aunties. Mum did some special photos today, so I could show you my Mega Hunt. It was the best EVER.
See how I woz accelerating here. And how there are two black flappy seagulls
(Mum: maybe not seagulls, but when did the truth ever get in the way of a good Hunting Yarn, eh?),
one flapping and one standing? AND a grey seagull too! I am picking up speed as I charged forward ready to Get Them!!!
But the grey one and one of the black ones were too wimpy to stick around and face me! Haha!
So I decided to focus all my hunting prowess and finely honed killing instincts on the other black one. See how it is cowering? Too scared to flap away!
And see how Tara has finally noticed there is a hunt afoot, and decided to follow me?
I got sooooo close! I could taste that black seagull, all feathery and chompy!
Look at me flying over the sand, with Tara trailing along behind playing catchup...
And now look at the cheek of that bird! Landing again! In the middle of My Hunt!
Daring to think that it was safe from me and my Pack! Hah!
And then it flopped around, all casual like - as if it was taunting me.
So, as Pack Leader I did my Secret Zhu Hunting Signal to tell Tara to circle round and do The Pincer Movement.
But she was too slow, or over excited, or she didn't understand the signal or something and it flapped off before we could get properly in position and Get IT!!!!!
Oh well, we will get it next time. After Tara has brushed up on her Secret Zhu Hunting Signals, cos she was just blundering about this time!
But we still Rule the Beach, don't we Aunties? And we climbed on a rock to celebrate. Actually, Tara climbed on EVERYTHING, but this was my Triumphal Rock Climb.
This is a pic of all the weird sky puddles in the sand.
And this is a pic of looking back and seeing all the little ripples in the sand.
We met Beth and her Mum and Dad and walked with them for a bit. Beth was nice, and her Mum and Dad were very chatty with Mum. They used to live somewhere with lots of hills, and green stuff, not flat and full of houses like around here. And Mum agreed that she missed the green hills too. There are lots of green hills were Mum used to live.
Beth is very sniffy and friendly, and Tara was OK with her, after she submitted and dangled her topknot in a salty puddle. I larffed.
Mum's pics:
This is a closer shot of the sand ripples. Don't be fooled by the golden light in this shot. It was bloomin' FREEZING and I could barely handle the camera!
Can you see the black thing sticking up in the centre of the picture? Looks like a fence post? Well Beth's Mum and Dad told me that about 500 yards out to sea from there, at very low tide, you can see the petrified remains of a sunken forest, which have been preserved by the salt water. Now I have to come back when the tide is at its lowest and see if I can spot any of the remains!
