  1. Our routine is between 9:15pm-10:00pm then they are off to bed and sleep until I make the first move in the morning.....usually around 7 or 7:30. When we have some really cold weekends we do a quick run out and potty and come in clean up and jump back into the warm bed until the house warms up.....they love that!!!

  3. Alex mentioned a good point with Daylight Savings time and then back to Standard Time. With it getting so dark so much earlier this time of year, it seems they want their "sleepy time" so much earlier. They sleep later too because it's still dark. It always takes a few days to adjust to the time changes, but we all manage. I just like the longer daylight days much better! Vicki

  4. Missy's last trip out is right after her dinner, somewhere between 5:30 and 6pm. We've tried but she won't go out again so we've stopped even trying. She's good until we get up somewhere around 8am and often she won't actually go until after she's had her breakfast around 9am.

  5. Well, my 2 pups go to bed early at about 7:30. I have tried to keep them up later to no avail. So i usually let them fall asleep in the living room, wake them up between 8:30/9 to go potty then take them into my room and into their creates. They are up at about 6 am which is a little earlier than i would like but considering they go to sleep at 7:30 it's not too bad. Plus it gets me a chance to get some stuff done in the morning before my son wakes up.

  6. Mine go out usually between 9--10 PM and are good until the following morning anywhere between 7--10 AM. They can make it 12 hours and if it's raining in the morning, even longer unless you shove them out the door. Vicki

  11. You'll have to bare in mind the daylight saving time, or whatever you call it. After 21 December, it's gradually going to get lighter each night earlier... so that might have to be factored in?!? Not sure if it's because our clocks went back end of October or whether it's just Riley being lazy but he's never awake in the mornings when I go down now (not sure if it's just too dark outside), that will certainly change as the mornings get lighter next year... babybluegirl 9:09am

  12. Thank you guys, it's lovely to hear your routines Usually around 9-930 they have a bedtime biscuit and their last toilet at 10pm. They go in the kitchen to be bed, they have their night light on. Then if I'm really tired, off to bed I go So 10pm being the latest is about normal... Must be me, I'm just feeling tired some days. To be honest DH is always up about 5.30am (week days I'm up at 6am) so working my way in 5 minute intervals, so they end up at least 15 minutes earlier isn't going to hurt... As they get older I think I'll increase that time so they go to bed earlier than that. May

  13. We have our usual routine of bed at 9:30pm for Riley during the weeknights and a little later at the weekends, so we take Riley off for his last toilet around 9:15pm and then settle him in the Dining Room with the night lights on, curtains closed, radio on Classic FM, Rescue Remedy sprayed in his Pet Carrier and on a toy of his and then by the time all that's done, it's pretty much 9:30pm so we creep out and shut the kitchen door and go up ourselves to get ready for bed. When we go downstairs in the morning, usually just after 7am, he's not bursting for the toilet at all when we open the p

Good luck

  15. My two go out at 9 pm and sleep through to 7-30 to 8 am most of the time. They have done that since day one. Hubby wakes them in the morning while he is making coffees for us. Often the boys don't need to go potty until after they have had breakfast at about 9 am

  19. Karel`s last time out is at eleven o`clock at night, but he does take his time the little fellow at that hour. Then to bed, and up and about around 8 o`clock. Similar here about adjusting to the time changes. And I like, just as Vicki says, the longer daylights days much and much better.

  20. Oooh, so cute! I've never heard of the shampoo but yes, whitening shampoos often make the hair dry, and they need to be used with a good conditioner (which I haven't found yet, even though I've tried a lot of them ). I think all shampoos need to be diluted, I'm just not sure about the ratio. Maybe 1:10? That means for every part of shampoo, ten parts of water (10ml shampoo, 100ml water or something like that lol). I wish my Misha or even Luca looked like your babies <3 So bright and white

  21. The Stuff for Dogs grooming spray.........this tangler remover and preventer repels dirt and prevents urine stain by forming a protective barrier. Made in the USA.....has anyone used this product? I was looking for something to use between baths to keep them looking fresh.......as they go outside a lot and they play doggie wrestling and pick up dirt and grass.......brushing them helps but was looking thur sites to see what was out there.

  22. Time for Missy to have her treat for Thanksgiving made! If anyone is looking for a new treat recipe to try Missy gives this one two Paws Up! Spice-Up Snack (cinnamon ginger biscuits) 1/2 cup each of wheat and white flour 1 tsp dried ground ginger 1/2 tsp dried ground cinnamon 2 TBSP honey 2-3 TBSP water (until it forms a stiff dough) Mix all ingredients together and, if necessary, add more water, 1 TBSP at a time if the dough is too crumbly to stick together. Roll the dough out and cut into shapes with a knife or a cookie cutter. Place the cookies on a cookie sheet sprayed with c

  23. So I was reading this article and low and behold our baby's breed popped up as #11. Read here what they say about the Tzu: http://www.dogshow.com/21-not-so-intelligent-dog-breeds/11/ The other dogs in this article are quite interesting too.

  27. I let Gizmo out between 10-10:30pm and then we retire. He is usually passed out on the floor or couch at that time anyway. He wakes me up anywhere from 7am to 8:30am in the morning and we go outside shortly thereafter (gotta get my shoes and coat on..lol)

  30. Our babies do change so much over their lifetime. We see them daily so don't notice it as much. Good reason for all the pictures. Coloring changes are the biggest I've noticed with my guys, and length of hair. Personalities too as they mature. Hmmm, come to think of it, I've changed a lot over my lifetime. Some for the better, some not (like this white hair!) Vicki

  31. Thanks everyone for your replies, it's good to hear from others, but on the other side it just confuses me even more! lol. I think my husband and I are going to try the sheet (as it's our homework) and I guess it can't hurt (we've bought frankfurter sausages as his "wow treat") and we'll take it from there. Again, I'm not sure if the instructor was expecting us to accomplish this task in just a week, or just to start it now, but it's an ongoing task. Will ask when we next attend the training this Sunday. I totally understand all your comments, especially the fact you shouldn't compa

  32. Thank you Vicki, yes I have taken my fair share of Riley pictures, lol. I need to keep emptying my phone I've got so many that I keep getting a message that I'm running out of room! It was only the other day that I looked over my Riley Folder on the computer and viewed lots of old photos and my has he changed from the day we got him - looks totally different!!! Here's a Day One Picture of Riley: Hasn't he changed. I've got so many videos of him it's unreal! I need a new harddrive just for him I think lol I guess as we've only had him for this short amount of time, the pictur

  33. I grew up in the times we only used praise as treats when training dogs. When any of my guys are on leash, they have NO interest in taking a treat. They do respond well to praise though. When off leash and home, they are very excited to get any treat though. Go figure! Vicki

  34. Congratulations on losing your Alarm Clock! As they do grow up, they do tend to get better in all aspects. At about a year and a half they become much more mellow and turn into little dogs instead of puppies! Lots to look forward too and lots to look back on! Take LOTS of pictures! Vicki

  36. As far as I'm concerned my two boys, have proven to be the easiest of all my previous dogs to train. I have always had two dogs, usually either English Cockers or Cavalier King Charles. I always had a male and a female of the same breed and colour combinations. Always had them fixed at an early stage, usually around the five to six month time frame. I have loved them all unreservedly. I can however say, training the mandatory commands with all of my dogs was different for all of them. These two boys of mine are so very different, however I knew that from day one, and so my technique was a

  38. I think the author needs to spend a bit of time with a dictionary studying the difference between "independent" and "not-so-intelligent." 'Cause he really seems to have the two greatly confused. Unfortunately, when it comes to dogs many people do. And I did notice he doesn't give a source for his list, although it appears that he took it straight from Stanley Coren's book The Intelligence of Dogs. In addition to being vocabulary challenged, it appears he might not understand much about plagiarism, either. Which kind of makes me wonder if the author just might find himself on a list of

  39. I didn't go through the whole list (just the first 11) but I agree for the most part. Anyone else notice that the majority of the dogs in the first 11 are Hounds? I have always said: Terriers are nuts Hounds are dumb Working, Herding and Sporting dogs need too much exercise This leaves me with select individuals from the Toy and Non-Sporting groups, which works perfectly for me lol! I actually own one Shih Tzu that is really smart and very trainable, but it's not something the Breed is known for. If you look at the records, there are VERY few obedience and agility-titled Shih Tzu
