  2. Mine is able to leave it, but as soon as she as it in her mouth it's time for the finger to pry it out. She sees me coming and try to keep her month shut, but she doesn't know I have experience and she can't win. She knows the fingers are coming, but she hopes to win everytime.

  4. It's hard to tell with young puppies. But the one on the right looks like maybe some terrier in the mix? It's possible for puppies in the same litter to have different sires.

  5. Now you've got me curious about the ones you saw with all beading. Got a link? Vicki

  6. Thanks Vicki for the information......I am going to try and make one and see how it comes out. The reason why I asked about the beads getting snagged in the hair was all the leads I saw on line yesteday were totally made from beading from the collar to the leash....the whole thing......I have my own personal necklaces that tend to pinch sometimes so it made me think the one's that were completely beaded would do the same thing.......I like the way you made yours with a bit of bling.......so I am going to copy hopefully it will work!!!

  7. Me too we've had a few of the white foamy vomits the past few weeks and I'm right away saying what have we fed her wrong? They are SO sensitive.. My 'no-no' and 'maybe not' lists for Missy continues to grow..

  8. I can relate to that.......when I made the birthday muffins this week I used regular flour instead of my almond or coconut flour because I was in a hurry and durning the night Allie was digging at herself. Won't make that mistake again.

  9. We were taught to say "leave it" and that is what we do, both dogs will usually drop whatever they have in their mouths, if not then I sternly open their mouths and remove object, mostly something unmentionable. One day a few months ago, Sam was observed my me to have something strange hanging from his mouth. It was a young rabbit that had died for some reason. It was still fresh and floppy. I rushed out to tell him to leave it, and like a wee trouper he dropped it! I was so proud of him, hubby got rid of it for me! Sam to this day still goes looking for the poor unfortunate rabbit !

  10. With no real formal training Gizmo will "no..drop it" after I have chased him a lap or two around the dining room table. Initially this started as a game, until he figured out I was "serious Sam" and not playing. I will stomp my feet to help get that point across. I plan to work on this more since he has just started to figure out that if he wants me to play with a toy with him, he has to bring it to me. He has started nudging me with toys when he wants me to grab it. Perfect time to work on "drop it" I figure! Funny..I can have a nearly full plate of food in front of him..he will sta

  15. Very good question! This didn't even cross my mind as Gizmo's hair isn't long enough yet to be an issue with his collar. I will look forward to hearing some of the answers from the group!

  16. I am going to get the MEAN MOM AWARD here.........example.......and one thing NO TREATS WERE USED IN THIS TRAINING...Lexie had something in mouth she would not drop......one pick up of said paw....fingure inserted in mouth to remove said item with a firm NO....DROP........I now have no problems in requesting NO....DROP.......there are somethings that just need a firm command without bribing them to preform......MPO.

  17. Yes - they are supposed to be brothers. Some young woman brought them "home" and her boyfriend's Mom said she can't keep them. Just one of the many, many all too common reasons why puppies/dogs get dumped in a shelter or given away "free to a good home" shortly after they arrive at what is supposed to be a new home :-( But you already knew that.......grrrr

  20. Overall, the leash is about 4 foot. They certainly could be made to just about any length though. I'm not sure I understand about what you mean by "sections". Once finished, it's one piece, but several pieces, depending on the type of leash, are connected together. The one pictured is a Martingale with Kindness added (in Macrame). The handle is one piece, the beaded section is one piece. Those two are connected together and then connected to a swivel. Then depending on the type of collar wanted, another piece is also connected to the other end of the swivel. With the Kindness added

  24. Sheila I don't think the Spiced Up Snack recipe has any of those items, would that one work? I'll also check my other receipes and see if I have any others.

  26. The owner of www.foxypups.com, Cindy Hice made me a silk step in harness. I found her at yorkietalk and spoiledmaltese when Snickers had a bad matting episode after he came back from a 2 day stay at his sitter. So far so good.

  27. Vicki do you mind giving the measurements of the lead that you have posted? Am I looking at it right...does it have 4 sections? I looked for tutorials but they were crap and not at all like yours. I would really prefer to make them over buying them. Plus the size of the cording too.......

  28. I'll be watching this for a answer too. I've been dissatisfied for sometime now. Harness makes knots and matts ..... neck collar a no no..silly sod pulls and chokes and coughs too much...scares me

  29. I made the whole recipe and freezed a lot. I'm like the freezer queen, everything goes in the freezer at my house, drives my husband nuts! But we always have goodies that can be thawed quickly! And Missy loves the surprise of getting a goodie she hasn't had in a while! :)

  30. I do use either "drop" or "out" when they have something they shouldn't. If they don't immediately spit it out, I do like Jeannine and my fingers get it out. They really don't like that, so are pretty good about spitting it out on command. Giving them a treat for dropping something they have in their mouth just doesn't sound right TO ME! Mine would associate that and would more than likely purposely get something they shouldn't have just to get a treat for when then spit it out! Vicki

  31. I let Donte and Lacey off the lead in a field.. There was a couple of dog owners there too. I thought I saw Donte pick something up. So I did what you talked about here... Put it like this, I wish I hadn't yuk!!!!

  32. Thanks Sophie's Haven, we can try that at home because "off" certainly doesn't work one bit! lol. When we see something in Riley's mouth that shouldn't be in there, I normally just try and prise his mouth open (he's really strong by the way) and get the said item out. Funnily enough, we went to our local town on Saturday to watch the turning on of the Christmas lights. We walked up and down the road/pavements (road shut so there were stalls all along the high street). Before we knew it, Riley had something in his mouth and I was trying my hardest to get said item out!!! After a lot of
