  1. Hmm, I had found it but it was published in 1997, so not sure what might have changed or not I will certainly take a look though and see if I can make a friend of mine order it lol (Have I underlined how clueless I am when it comes to online shopping and how I actually hate it? lol)

  2. It's basically the same think, we're reading stories, doing some activities and go out for walks when the weather is good Unfortunately I do not get any pics from our visits there, the caretakers have advised me not to, and I respect that But yes, the feeling is awesome. I know, it's not great help or anything that trained dogs can do but at least, it's something I can't wait to hear about you and Missy's progress! What I really searched for and never found was a training book for the CGC. I would have loved to have one

  3. Oh man Markella I would Love to do that! Kids and the elderly is who I'd love to get to visit with Missy. They actually have a reading program here too where the kids read to the dogs, that would be great to do. Am sure hoping Missy thinks it's as great as I do and she can pass the tests! It would be great if you could post some pics of Misha working with the kids, I'd Love to see him working with them!

  4. We can't get such qualifications easily here. For one, there's no Canin Good Citizen test And therapy dogs are not popular and I don't think a dog can take such a test either here. However, Misha and I do still visit a house with kids with special abilities Misha loves it when we go there, he gets so much attention. Yes, he isn't trained per se, but at least, he offers some hoy to the kids there and it's all I can ask for

  5. Thanks so much for posting what's needed for the Canine Good Citizen test Renee. I want to try to train Missy to be a Therapy Dog and I heard if they can pass this test they can pass the Therapy Dog test. Of course after reading this I'm not at all sure she can pass but I want to start working on her training in these areas. Then once it gets warmer I'll get her into a real training class then we'll see if she can even come close! Thanks so much!

  7. So, Bosco, 3 of my grands and I are attending the Maryland Dogfest this weekend. I'm so excited to attend because there are so many activities and exhibits for us and our baby. Some of the interactive activies are a Dog Olympics - There are 4 challenges like Simon Says. This tests how well and quickly you dog responds to basic commands like sit, lay down, etc; Eat anything - they are going to give the dogs apple slices, cherries, broccoli and more; Musical Canine Chairs - Owner and dog must sit wihen the music stops and Canine Willpower - how long can your dog hold out eating a hotdog once

  8. Ah understand and that certainly makes sense, now that i think about it, about the pictures. I've been looking at this book on CGC, it looks pretty good from what i can tell and you might want to take a look at it: http://www.amazon.com/Canine-Good-Citizen-Every-Second/dp/0876054521/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1422646751&sr=1-3&keywords=canine+citizen It sounds awesome what you and MIsha are doing! Will certainly keep you posted on where we get on this!

  10. Success again toda! Only my 13 year old took her out tonight and forgot to reward her upon peeing. So when I took her out before bedtime she heard the ziplock bag of treats ...chicken bits... In my pocket and didn't want to focus on peeing. Walked and walked and walked! So no bits and I am guessing I will be woke up in the middle of the night. At least we've still not had an accident in her kennel.

  11. Same as that JUDGE was using. Many show dogs in the US are kept in them most of every day and every night. Vicki

  12. Yep, I couldn't see it but any rescue case gets me emotional I'm just so happy you have so many lovely paws, because I know their stories are not always all candy and roses, but they're all so loved and so happy with you, that I think they couldn't wish for a better family!

  13. Sorry to take so long to finish. The only thing I didn't mention was Bosco trying the Agility course. I remember last year he was a little afraid of the obstacles and had to get some major coxing. Well he did very good yesterday. So much so that I'm looking at enrolling him in classes so he can compete. Here are some pictures of him in the Agility course: Coming through the tunnel - He was taking his sweet time At the top of the ramp getting ready to go down the other side On the teeter-toter Weaving through the sticks. He was really good with that without a treat

  14. OMG what a wonderful day we had. As promised here's the blow by blow. My granddaughter and I arrived at about 10 am this morning and Bosco was his normal totally excited to be there dog. He wanted to take off and run after every dog that walked near us. So my early day was spent trying to control a dog that wanted to pull us all over the place. Now, let me also begin by saying, I do have some pics but not of everything (I'll have to get those next year ) But I do have pics. So first we watched an exhibit of Air Dogs. These were dogs who can jump in the water to fetch a stick and bring i

  15. Renee, thanks for posting the CGC requirements. I was thinking of getting Zeedo trained as therapy dog and I think passing CGC is a requirement. They can only test after a year though. I know he will fail 5 and 9 for sure. He loves people and just has to follow and greet everyone he meets. He is also extremely curious and wants to investigate anything new - so distraction is going to be hard to overcome. Have fun at the show this weekend. I'm sure a Tzu will win the "eat anything" competition. Waiting to see pictures...
