Is humping a dominance thing? First Jet started it w/ Chloe and now Molly is doing it to Chloe. I'm thinking it's a dominance or territorial thing? We've been trying to keep Molly calm, so she doesn't hurt her leg further. But, of course, she wants to play and Chloe and Jet do, too.

Panda only humps her Mr. Leopard (stuffed toy) when she's fed up with me. She's teaching Cadbury but Cad doesn't seem to catch on to things not related to food.

Oh yea, dominance for sure....and every time one of mine gets a bath the other want to hump (doesn't matter the gender)....to claim that sweet smellin tzu.....LOL Funny tho, Rudy humps but is rarely the humpee.....lol, guess it is the "new kid on the block" syndrome...

I crack up ~every time~ I read about Panda and her leopard! It's just funny to me for whatever reason, picturing our sweet Miss P getting aggravated and knowing perfectly well she can't tell YOU where to go, so instead she takes it out on Mr. Leopard. It just goes to show, like they say: $#!t rolls downhill! I guess that's the Panda-monium coming out, eh?

All mine do it to each other...it's like a Shih Tzu orgy around here sometimes! Even Jack gets in on the act with poor Katy...of course, she's small enough she can just slip out from under him which leaves him humping air and then looking very, very confused.

LOL Eve will use her stuffed piggy. All of mine do it I've only ever seen Taffy do it once though and she'll be 6 next April, she's usually on the receiving end. When Eve doens't grab her piggy she'll go for my sweet Choco who btw is Clueless. He tries to do it but goes for the wrong end and usually just coasts along 'til Eve is tired of his effort.

At first I thought it was a 'being in heat' issue with my female (Lula) but it's 2 mths past her last heat...and sad to say she doesn't find her stuffed toys appealing. The next best thing to a heart beating animal is our male cat...stays away from the female cat but I was completely shocked when she grabbed ahold of the male cat and started going to town :/ She first started this while in her heat mode but every once in awhile we catch her. The funny thing about it is the fact she usually wanders into the kitchen with him as he swankely shakes his tale walking past her then we catch her in the act. She knows she is misbehaving and retreats to a private place with no prying eyes to disturb them haha!! It's rather entertaining though bcz the male cat sometimes will just flop his body on the floor and lay there on his side, while she goes about her thing. The look on Lula's face doesn't seem to symbolize dominance but pure fun haha!! That is the day I learned there are no boundaries between animals, my naughty little girl The worst time she had ever done this was a day I had invited my Dad over for dinner and they were right smack in the middle of the living room floor. I blushed and told him she was in heat, and the craziest part of it was after she was done she started licking the male cats ears ohhhh my!!

I also heard that humping was a dominance thing so I've always gently corrected my hyper pup Tucker when he was young, and going after the couch pillows, (lol). So he hardly ever does it anymore. Finn is just a babe, but I look for him to start here any time. He goes to get the snip snip in a couple weeks though..

HOWEVER, lol... Tucker is the prime target of my aunt's shihtzu Ben's attention.. Every time we get together, they're at it before we even settle in, haha. It takes days for the loooove vibes to die down, and sometimes, they just don't die down at all, lol. I always assumed that this too was a dominance thing. Ben wants to tell Tucker who's boss, and Tucker doesn't really "do" the submission thing. I always threaten my aunt I'm going to post puppy porn on youtube to blackmail her with, but.. I never make good on my threat, haha.

This is funny, because Emily has a teddy bear she humps to submission......lol She also humps Meeko and Alice. She won't let them hump her at all. Poor little Alice doesn't get to hump anyone.....she is the face licker.
