MONDAY 29th Feb: Leaping About Day

Crinkly

Cato:

Mum says Leaping Day only comes round every 4 years.  So Tara has been doing her best to fit 4 years of Leaping into one.

We got up earlier than usual, because of Mum's work thing, but managed to get straight back to bed after a pee and a drink.

Dad went out for breakfast, and brought Mum a coffee to make up for her having to stay home and work.   We didn't mind cos it meant we weren't stuck in our pens!

Then by midday we was both properly awake, and Tara had heard about Leaping and was bouncing on and off the sofa enough to wear me out!

We went to the big lake park for our walk.  It was ace.  Now that Spring is Leaping, we were able to do the big circuit, not the little lake circuit.  No donkeys, and lots of mud, but we went alllllllll the way round the outside, and sniffed and saw things we haven't seen in months.

The long drainage ditch:

The swans:

Tara:

LEAP!!!

LEAP!!!

I have to do this, cos Cato is a boring fart and won't LEAP with me.  If I don't, I will have to wait 4 years til I am old and fuddy duddy and won't WANT to LEAP when I get the chance again.

image_zpsydgkl7bg.jpeg

So I LEAPT onto benches and off them, and over mud and stuff.  Though I waded through it too.  And I have been LEAPING about in the house.  It is such fun I had to go outside and bark about it!

image_zps2bpj5wic.jpeg

Dad said with all the LEAPING he needed to give me more room and went off to play boring snooker.

Met some very shiny dogs on our walk.  One cockerpoo was sooo shiny he looked polished.  No rude dogs sniffing my knickers today, which was good.  And when the big ones went past I LEAPT up onto a bench so my nose was level with the German Shepherd.  Aren't I clever?

Mum doesn't seem very impressed with my LEAPING.  She laughed to start with, but now she has started 'humphing' and muttering about baths.  She says my feet are filthy.  But they aren't nearly as filthy as they were when we got home this afternoon, cos I have wiped most of it off by LEAPING on Cato, and the sofa, and resting in my bed between leaps.

Sidney is in BIG trouble!  He has been sucking the gravy off his lumps and spitting them down the stairs.  I can't reach, or I would tidy them up for Mum.  She says that Dad is in trouble too, because Dad has stopped using Sidney's special secret dining area that I can't get into, and gave him some food on the stairs.  Sidney will use any excuse not to say hello to me :( so he won't come downstairs if Dad feeds him up there.

Ooooh I feel another LEAP coming on!

Sidney:

I don't need to say anything, do I?

You have just had a perfect glimpse into the unending horror that is my existence.

Ooh I Love the lake and the swans and ducks, Gorgeous!! Sounds like you had a Wonderful walk!

Cato I don't blame you, that sounds like a Lot of leaping going on, good thing it's only every 4 years! ;)

Tara you sure did some serious leaping today! Super idea to leap up on that bench so you were eye to eye with that Shepard! :thumb:

Sidney I see you're getting back well with that food on the stairs, good move to make sure they can't get to it to eat too! :roflmao:

I think we will ALL be glad when this Leap Year is over!

That cat pic is bloomin' awesome!  I can't show Sidney that.  He would be even more affronted than usual.  But I can dream of one day finding him looking like that... it would be a moment to treasure!

I have discovered, today, that Sidney's lumps (sorry, can't call them meat, cos they aren't) dry very quickly, and are better left to dry than picked up when all soggy.  Aren't you all soooo lucky to hear these vile snippets of life chez Crinkly? We are weaning Sidney off junk food again, after his stay at the Cattery where they only feed him tinned junk food.  Normally he is 90% raw like the dogs, but he does loooove his tinned psuedo-food in flavoured jelly, so we are cutting him down gently.  Against his protests!

I have always wondered what Cattails looked like

They had chicken livers for tea, so it should be an aromatic night.

You guys are so lucky to have Mum at home with you.. I'll do anything to work from home. I love all of the leaping, Tara... You remind me so much of Lacey...

Was you on your lead near the duck pond? I'm having sweats here, just thinking about you off the lead near the water.... I know, I'm a silly :teary::ohyeah:

Once againg Sidney, you being your cunning self is cracking me up... at least with you all passing wind, mum will have to open your window!!! ?

They were offlead the whole walk (which they love!).  There were only 2 cars in the car park so we parked right next to the path and dumped them straight out.  They beetle straight over to the sniffy posts and off the parking area immediately, and the only way we get them near the car at the end, is with treats, so there is no running about under cars, cos they hang back and ask to go round the park again!.

Cato seems to hold a belief that the walk won't end if he sits down and stares at the car from a distance of about 20 feet :roflmao:

Tara likes jumping on and off things, but she is surprisingly sensible (I know, sensible is an unexpected word choice) about it.  She nevery jumps down unless the surface looks good to her.  So no interest in LEAPING off banks and bridges and heights.  She will jump out of the car boot, which is mid thigh height, but I think that has been the highest.  So far, she has never wanted to go into water, or go down a slope to water.  She looks, she tramples, but has never looked as if she will.  Part of me thinks it would be an excellent lesson for her to land in deep cold water!  But the thought of having to get down there and fish her out makes me hope it never happens!

And Cato is afraid of heights and doesn't want to touch even the sea with his toes.

Donte has had a dipping, after he fell In the garden pond. I think he may of been pushed though... (Lacey, not me) previous to him falling in the pond, they would jump up on a small pot to look over this short fencing around the pond. And at one time the both of the could sit in the pot, but when they had grown there wasn't much room. So I think she jumped up second and he got pushed in ... Lol

I'm sure mine would be fine... It's just me!! Lol

Wish I could have seen that!

Actually I missed it too. Hubby and I nipped out food shopping and my youngest son rang me while we was out..

The conversation started like this. Mummmmm!!! Yessssss, what's wrong? Lol

Donte has fallen in the pond and he's soaked. I've got one of your towels out the cupboard to dry him. Ok, which one? Your lovely cream coloured ones!!
