Hate these tube dogs...but it's a fact of nature....Watch out when walking outside with your paws...they come a lot bigger and badder.

Is that from back here at home in Ga.? Hate snakes........we have copper heads that we have to watch out for but mostly black snakes usually scare the heck out of me when I run across one but are harmless. Keep the field mice from multiplying...........now the copper heads we kill when we come across those........

Yeah on my old place in Georgia.....Son is cleaning up to live there....surrounded by all pines a perfect breeding ground for rattler and diamond backs...this one is just a baby....I've seen them a whole lot longer and fatter..... But once spotted any snake that dares come into the yard is eradicated.

Ugh snakes, can't stand them! We mostly have copperheads here too and some black snakes, hubby keeps the black snakes and we kill the copperheads. A few years back a very large copperhead got our Shepard right on the snout. She spent a few nights in the hospital but thankfully survived-- not the snake, once we found it, it paid big time for that bite! ;)

We had a mutt named Lucy that would warn us if a copperhead was close........she too got bit on the side of her face.....just had some swelling and she was fine. We had an incident in our area here a few years back where a copperhead got in a home........the owners were packing up their car to go camping and the house door was open and the snake made its way into the house and got in the bathroom  and curled himself up around the base of the toilet and the lady of the house went in to use the potty before they hit the road  and did not turn on the light and she felt a bite on her ankle.......she was in the hospital for her camping weekend but can you imagine the shock of that.........after hearing that I turned on lights in any room I entered for a while..............

Me too!  I'm terrified of them.  My husband saw a tiny garden snake in the yard and I flipped out.  They aren't poisonous but I still don't like them.

I don't mind snakes, but all we really have around her are garter snakes (although I believe there are copperheads in some of the rivers).  My Mom was terrified of them.  She was at my house one fall day and happened to look out at my deck just as a garter snake (likely looking for a warm place to spend the winter) poked its head up between the planks.  From that day forward, Mom REFUSED to go out on my deck, lol.  So every time we had a cookout we'd all be outside eating and Mom would be resolutely sitting at the kitchen table with her plate.  On July 4 the guys spend HOURS setting-off (illegal) fireworks, and even though we kept telling her that no snake in its right mind would be within a half-mile of all THAT, she still insisted on watching from inside.  We laugh about it every Fourth!  That and my Dad setting-up all the fireworks on trestles in the garage so they could easily find what they wanted (we called it the "munitions dump").  How Dad loved those fireworks!  Every year he and my DH would head to IN to stock-up, and he'd call on the way back to say things like, "We were pretty frugal.  We only spent $400.00!"  That's a strange holiday to have little remembrances about departed loved-ones, but it seems to work for us!
