Light at the end of the tunnel!
The DH was cleared yesterday to start PT today, and they think he should be able to walk normally without the boot in a month or so...which means that soon he can get back to work and out of my hair!!!
Everyone has been busy!
Jack: Mom got me a new beef knucklebone yesterday, and Katy keeps stealing it from me. Then she jumps up on a chair with it and drops it on the floor and I snatch it back. Once she tried to "hide" it by taking it out to the run and leaving it there but I found it. I think in the future Mom needs to get more than one knucklebone.
Gus: Mom finally got around to haircuts and I must say I'm looking fabulous. Having less hair makes it easier to hide from the chipmunks, too. You outghta see them fun when I bounce out of my hiding place. I'll catch one someday!
Katy: Jack has MY knucklebone again. I have complained to the management (Mom) and she just says I have to wait my turn. I protest. I need my OWN knucklebone! Also, she is really stingy with the cookies..
Drake: I had breakfast! My favorite! I got to sit on Mom's lap! My favorite! I got a cookie! My favorite! I was the first one in the snuggly blanket by the door! My favorite!
Corbin: Mom continues to keep my beloved Mona hidden from me, although she did allow her out to say hello earlier. I greeted her happily, letting her know that my love for her is still strong. Then we practiced making babies for a while. I am content.
Mona: I love my babies SO much! It was nice to see my doggie friends this morning and of course my darling Corbin, but I had to get back to my babies quickly. They need a LOT of milk to keep growing fat and strong! Mom put a bed in their box the other day so I can't roll them up like burritos any more, but they are old-enough to regulate their body temperature now so that's OK.
NaNa: I've about had it with these kids. They are stealing my food and when they're out running-around in the kitchen they keep tackling me and trying to nurse while I'm doing other important things...like eating. On the other hand, they are more fun to play with now than they were so I am teaching them their play-manners like the good Mama I am.
Eve: Ah, my new haircut is beautiful! Well, of course it is...after all I'M beautiful. Mom keeps looking at my back-end and saying, "OK, it's time to get on with things. Just try to hold out for a month or so, OK?" I have no idea what she's talking about, so I'll go admire myself in the deck doors some more.
Dot: I don't understand why Elle and I have to get brushed-out every day and everyone else doesn't. It stinks. I also can't play with anyone, although it IS nice to have Mom to myself when I am out. I guess we are going to dog shows this weekend. Mom is very excited because one of the judges has already given me something called "points" and both days we have something called a "major in bitches". Whatever.
Elle: I had fun today after my brushout! Mom let me run to the bedroom and wake Daddy up! I can get on the bed all by myself and then I tackle his head and pull on his beard. That makes him laugh and then I get lots of petting. We are going to something called a "dog show" this weekend and all Mom will say about it is, "PLEASE don't embarrass me the way your big sister Dot does." I am a good girl and know how to walk on lead and how to stand, so I don't know what she's worried about.
Stephan: I got a bath yesterday and I'm a big fuzzy hairball. Mom is "growing me out" for a grooming competition, and I guess I am getting a small haircut today to "set lines", whatever that is. I like grooming, because then I have all Mom's attention to myself.
Tai: I got a bath yesterday and Mom says it is STILL like bathing a Tasmanian devil...whatever that is. I got a short haircut because I am still chewing the hair off my back legs. It feels good! I will be going to a new home in a few weeks, where I can be out of my pen almost all the time so I won't chew my hair. My new owner is one of Mom's former grooming students and Mom says I will be her pet AND her competition dog. I will miss Mom and Dad, but it will be nice to be out all the time, and Mom says it is the best for me.
Athos, Porthos and Aramis: We get to run and play in the kitchen 3 or 4 times a day and are learning to climb-up on things and go over-and-under the chair cross-pieces. We are also getting our own bow of kibble three times a day and we are eating most of it! It's pretty good, but not as good as Mom's milk.
Holly and Loren: We are starting to WALK! It's fun! Every day, human Mom takes our Mommy out to potty and plays with us for a little bit. She is nice, but we still love Mommy best.
Mom: So, there you have it. Another day in the life!
