TUESDAY 29th Mar: Big Bed issues

Crinkly

Sorry - Photobucket seems to be playing up, like it did for @Summerangel yesterday.  Hopefully the links to the pics work, even though I don't seem to be able to embed them.

Mum:   Not unexpectedly, Little Miss Sunshine has decided that the Big Bed is far too convenient to pass up.  I had to put her down into the pen 3 x last night before she actually stayed there - she just ghosted up each time, waiting til I closed my eyes, then silently appearing.  Her little brain cells have obviously computed that I am the Guardian of the Portal, on the way to Big Softie Dad.

Then this morning, when I got out of bed to get ready for work (6.50am) I had barely reached the bathroom before Dad was fending off her joyous morning Ear Lick.

:roflmao:

Will give it a few more days.  She DOES have a learning capacity.  But it tends to focus mainly on Self Interest (obviously picked THAT lesson up quickly, eh?)

Tara:   No horrible rain this morning, so we went out for a nice walk to the DogField at the end of the road.  But then it HAILED!!!  We woz a bit puzzled to start with, cos things kept hitting us, and we had to look around to see where it woz coming from!!!

Here are the nasty hurty things. OW OW OW!

image_zpskwhmracn.jpeg

This is me catching up after I went and sniffified.  And maybe I pooped too.  But Mum didn't see it, and I was already walking off before she turned her head to see. Hahahaha!  So maybe I did.  Maybe I didn't!

image_zpsbo3gryky.jpeg

Then we went to the cemetery place, but that wasn't as much fun, cos we were on the leads, and I kept bouncing on Cato, but Mum wouldn't let me, and kept the lead really really short, so I couldn't investigate or climb on the graves.

Mum says you want to see my tail.  So she took some more pics.  But you must promise me not to look at my actual bottom bit.  It doesn't like being sniffed.  Or looked at.  Or trimmed!  But you can look at my tail, if you like.

Cato:  There were RABBIT HOLES in the field! They were very sniffy.  And fresh.  But too small for me to fit inside.  Want to go back and sniff them again very soon!

image_zpsyslgbioj.jpeg

Then we walked round the cemetery which would have been better if the nice lady had been there.  But she wasn't.  She usually sits in the churchyard every day, at the time we walk.  She has a big old German Shepherd who ignores us, and just lies on top of one of the graves.  And she has a bag of dog chews.  We get one each.  And she talks to Mum.  We think her husband is in the grave.  She is very nice and smiley, and she always makes a fuss of us.

image_zpsoqwe4hio.jpeg

Afterwards we walked home down the slippy leaf road, which doesn't have leaves any more, and we saw lots of flowers, but I will let Mum tell you about them, because, well, the bird poo was MUCH more interesting!

Mum again:

Primroses in the cemetery (first I have seen this year)

Wallflowers (first this year)

And the most beautiful magnolia!!!  Sorry about the bad angle, but it was so close to someone's house, and I really didn't want to look like the kind of weirdo who photgraphs over people's garden fences.  Even though I AM that weirdo!

There.  The pics are working for me.  Are they for you?

I had to use the Direct link rather than the IMG link, and it auto embedded itself.  If that makes sense.

Neener, neener, neener - works for me and they are WONDERFUL!

Cato - you have the best tail in the world.......I'm sure of it!

Love the color of that Wallflower.  I grow them at our cottage on the Oregon coast - but only the old-fashioned purple ones and orange ones seem to do well.  I have planted a lot of them in gorgeous colors (like the one here) but they never do well or come back next year.

We also love walking in cemeteries - also keep the dogs on leash out of respect.  It's always a nice quiet walk and we especially enjoy it in the summer time as it is cooler with all the old trees, lawns and bushes.  Yours is especially beautiful.

Tara - if I were you I'd stay away from them there rabbit holes.  We have bajillions of ground squirrels around here.  The dogs can hear the scrabbling going on in those tunnels and sometimes get in a frenzy to dig them up.  BUT!  We figured out they were getting fleas from digging there - little tiny fleas on their paws.

Tara:  Ewwww!  Toe Fleas!  That is worse than Sidney Fleas!  EWWWWWW!!!!

Mum:  I think (though I could EASILY be wrong) that some wall flowers are biennial, and only last a year or two, and if they seed, they usually revert to the bog standard varieties.  Or the posh varieties are infertile.  OR something like that!  But I haven't checked that, so I may be completely wrong. lol.  I often am.

And I am not going to draw Cato's attention to the tail comment - which is lovely - but does he REALLY need a bigger ego where his tail is concerned? :roflmao:  It is due for a cut soon, anyway.  That will upset him.

You are right about the Wallflowers being biennial  -  I found that out after I planted some the first year and they did SO well I planted a bunch more the next year.  I was so disappointed when they eventually petered out.  I'm not "falling" for any of the flashy ones anymore :-)  I fill in with the old-fashioned much more hardy (and cheaper) purple ones.  Funny thing is....here where we live in California, they are only a short Spring bloom but in on the Oregon coast where I have many, they are still blooming their heads off when we leave in October.

I can't WAIT to get back there next week and work in my garden.  The bummer is that I went to see "Dr. Finger" yesterday about my baby finger that has been in a splint for 7 weeks (tore the tendon).  It's not completely healed yet so I'm going to keep trying - wearing the dratted splint for another 6-8 weeks.

I'm not a dainty gardener......just deadheading and picking bouquets....I am a down and dirty laborer who has a husband who has NO interest.  I will be digging out weeds, hauling big bags of planting soil (we're in sand) digging holes, moving heavy hoses and sprinklers and a wheelbarrow, shoveling rock and bark chips as well as bringing more (as -big-as-I-can-handle) rocks up from the beach to work on my rock  edging. Trying not to bang or stress the booboo finger as well as try to keep the splint clean.....is going to put a crimp in my style!

Great pictures........love the walk in the cemetery......I enjoy reading headstones......on our journeys we found a cemetery that had this huge circular head stone made from a rough material from the 18 hundreds when they had the flue epidemic and they did a mass burial of a family with their 7 children who all died of the flue.....when we use to hike the Tennessee mountains we would come across old family burial sites out in the middle of no where......someone makes the trip to these locations and maintains them........at least they are not forgotten.

Tara your a darling for lovin on your Dad.....your the sweetest little alarm clock there is.

Mum..... love all the flowers very pretty......especially the magnolia tree......have not seen one in a long time.....no one around where I live is into fancy trees in their yards.......so enjoy your pictures a lot...........

Will try and get you more magnolias!  There are several different varieties that flourish in the Uk, and they all flower at different times through the spring. But frost is their enemy - it blights the buds terribly - and we had a very mild frost yesterday!

Hopefully there won't be too much damage...

What fabulous pics!  I love looking at the graves and reading all the inscriptions on the stones.  I've seen some beautiful cemeteries in Savannah,GA and in Charleston,SC.  Your pics are amazing!  Cato and Tara are so beautiful.  They have the fluffiest little tails.  The flowers are so pretty.  I especially love the magnolia.  The color and petals are so delicate.  I like those wallflowers too.  So pretty and such a bold color.
