A little find

PipsMom

I took myself off to town for retail therapy this morning...you know the essentials...dog biscuits, treats, chews, toys, pee pads by the hundreds . :roflmao:

Anyway .....spotted what I hope to be a little jewel amoung the isles.. A portable pool filter for small above ground pools...Mind was turning a hundred miles a hour...how could I use this with 2 buckets to make a home made hydro bathing pump...all clamps, hose and clamps  interior filter and cap filters.... only two on the shelf and a £14 price my mind raced and plotted...Then in another shop picked up a garden sprayer end.

So I bought it....stay tuned as I do a dry run to see if it up takes water correctly and pumps and circulates correctly .....before I use it on then paws of course.....it's not a submersible but attaches to a foot plate on the floor I've got to make..it promises high output...thinking this will help my water pressure problems...use less shampoo. Sure hope it works.

Pip and Abby have already been washed Friday and not due till three weeks from now.....so a dry run will settle my questions and see how this little find works ...stay tuned

What an excellent find :spoton:I'll be watching this space to see how you get it all put together and get it working... Will this make bathing easier on your back?

Oh you're like me, nip out with a shopping list and come back with other items.. But you couldn't miss this.. ?

B) scheming. Hehehe Just thrifty and invent is my middle name lol...got that from my mom

If I can get this work correctly it will cut my bathing time to 5 minutes per dog...then straight to the dryer..... That in itself will help my back tremendously.

Instead of 5 hour groom days it should be a little over 2 hours if my master plan comes together..lol

And if it doesn't work...well...sup pump it shall be ( plan C)... All depends if the intake pipe is gravity fed then it's onto plan B

I hope it works for you!  I love my recirc system.  If nothing-else, it has cut my show baths by 60%...and my regular baths by 80%!

Well.....It's still in the box and untried and will stay there now.

Tomarrow morning a box will arrive and its Plan #3 that won.

Told hubby what I was going to try and he treated the paws by ordering a Sup Pump today.

Many thanks to Bill and Pam....both which use the sup pump with great success and gave me this idea to have one too.

This looks interesting.....so when it comes to the conditioner/rinse cycle do you set it up the same as the bath cycle....... I am thinking the soap running thru the hose would not be totally out of the hose when your change cycle......does that make sense.........I have a double sink laundry tub so I am thinking if this is going to save time I am all for it.......but was wondering about the change over from bath to rinse..........will be looking forward to seeing how it works out for you......I am also thinking that the time that it takes for the water to cool off the bath should be done..........

Yeah, I'll flush the system before changing to conditioning rinse, then letting the water run continuous from the tub spout into the bucket on the last rinse so water isn't recirculated...only fresh water.

I saw one video last night assuming it was from another country by the man standing by....but it disturbed me that such a contraption even existed. It was a professional looking stainless steel drum with a glass front and a port hole from the top that the operator could reach in and steady the paw......Reminded me of a washing machine...literally

Anyway he insert dog into drum and closed the door.......no non skid mat ....so you can imagine the dog trying to find traction on smooth round sides and freaking out...I didn't know expect next...

Guess what happens?

Water starts to fill the drum...yes it does! From the bottom it fills slowly....then keeps on it filling till its up to,the dogs neck....poor little dog was freaking thinking it was about to drown I suppose....he struggled to stay on all four paws as jet came on from below like a spa bath...he really had a hard time staying upright ....at one time the operator inserted his hand from above to steady him as he was a very light weight dog and obviously scared out of his wits. It didn't say how long the bubbles and jets continued and cut away to it draining.

I can see any small dog using one of these contraptions fight and stress out everytime they go to this grooming shop...He knows he will have to endure this thing everytime....

Here's one important thing to remember when you use a recirc bathing system:  at the end, add about a tablespoon of white vinegar to the water to clean the system (it's also good for the dog's coat).  Otherwise, shampoo/conditioner reside will clog it and you'll end-up having to take it apart to clean it.

I think I've seen that "dog washing machine" thingy........I think it was from Japan.

I do sometimes threaten to put Shorty in the washing machine.......like today.  He's way overdue and going to the groomer tomorrow.  It's costs almost 50% less here in this part of OR than it does in our part of CA.
