Too hot to walk again, I am afraid. 
So I went outside, while the mutts were snoozing, and took these. As you can see, the snails got to the hosta in the end, and the ferns have done beautifully and are self seeding in the concrete cracks :). And there are no more monsters down the side passage. 
I intended to scrape out all the moss, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. It makes the passage greener and less harshly concrete, doesn't it? More natural. I think the ferns would prefer to be growing near moss. 
However, my little garden tour made me realise how much weeding I need to do out in the gravel, and under my palms! the rain last week, and the sun this week has made them all explode! Will try and get some done this evening, when it is a bit cooler.
