SUNDAY 28th August: Flowerbed massacre
Cato:
Remember last week when Mum and AuntieJane got all cross and bothered about some flowerbed? Well this time Mum took some photos to show you. From all the flapping and squeaking and stuff they were very upset. But no one lifted me up to show me, so I didn't see.
But there was lots of sniffage around the wall of the raised bed, so I didn't really mind. And some recycling bins that smell fascinating. Mum says there may be rats and foxes that check out the bins at night. Isn't that exciting?
Here are all the pics they flapped about.
This is a formium thing. Apparently it shouldn't have been chopped like this. Mum says maybe the gardening attackers thought they were Beardy Iris.
And this is a weedy bit, with the grass already sprouting after the rain. Mum says it is invasive couch grass and will take over in no time.
This is the lovely yellow rose Mum picced a couple of weeks ago. Poor thing.
This is bamboo and ornymental grasses what have been chopped for no good reason.
The other bigger formium that had those red-black flowers on it a bit ago. Leaving raw edges for the frost is SILLY (Mum says)
The fatty plant they chopped back for no reason at all.
And this is where that corky screwy hazel thingy was. Mum loved that. And they dug it out completely!
She and AuntieJane are talking about writing to complain at the senseless damage. They got all cross and flappy about it again today.
Now can we talk about the good stuff? We had a good look at foxy's tunnel, and it is definitely not being lived in, is it?
And we met lots and lots of dogs. Tara got all silly about it, but Mum gave her treats to come and stand close, and then we walked by, and it was all perfectly fine. The Basset Hound wanted to say 'hello' but as soon as his Dad saw how silly Tara was (doing her submissive thing), the nice Dad called Basset away. And he went. So she was OK.
Tara:
And then we met My Friend Daisy again. And Mum and Auntie and Daisy's Mum chatted. Daisy can't come and stay with us, cos their holiday is the same week as ours! I wanted her to come and stay with us on holiday, but Mum says our holiday den is only allowed 2 dogs. Isn't that silly? They should let Daisy come too. She would like mountain climbing and athleticals too, wouldn't she? And I could show her all my climbiness and cleverness. Cato was making a real fuss of Daisy's Mum until he noticed that Our Mum was talking to Daisy. Hahaha! He came bustling over and made sure that he was between Daisy and Our Mum. Isn't he funny?
I would have played with Daisy if that Basset Hound hadn't been all sniffy and interested in me. It took a while for me to get over that! It is very stressful, you know. He woz huge and there weren't any benches nearby for me to socially climb to feel safe.
This is me and AuntieJane walking together. I love AuntieJane. I'm wearign my pink-on-pink stripy bow again today. And I have Bed Head. Mum says I have to stop standing on my head in the car. But I LIKE standing on my head. Or standing on Cato. I don't mind which.
Mum:
These pretty little mint green blobs are baby pinecones growing on the lowest branches of a pine. So cute.
On some trees, the leaves are already beginning to turn, and drop. Very sad. Hopefully the heavy rain last night will give them a bit longer in leaf...
