SATURDAY 3rd September: Beachy clamberings
Cato:
Pack walk! It was ACE!!! And not too hot. All grey and overcast, and it started to rain just at the end, which was nice and cool.
We had a consult and decided that we needed some beach after no proper walks for DAYS, and with the Mad Joggers taking over The Big Lake Park every Saturday morning, it had to be the Dune Beach. Yay!!!
This is us setting off.
Just to the right is a BIGBIGBIG hedge of roses, with convolvulus growing through it, and hips and flowers and EVERYTHING. Mum said I had to show you. She says it is about 50 feet long, 6 feet high and 10 feet thick, and would be better than a brick wall for security! (Mum: sleeping beauty was defended by thorns like this! lol)
Isn't my ear interesting. And my tail.
Did you see the railings on the left? Those are Tara's clambery railings. We went on them.
See?
I didn't like being so high. I stayed back and sniffed to make it less threatening. But Tara wanted to run down the steps!
These are the houses that live back from the dunes. They are tiny. Some of them are like beach dens. Mum says they are holiday homes. We are going on holiday soon. To another beach. Tara says there will be mountains to climb too. I hope Mum will be there to help me climb.
These people had their poor yorkie on the lead ALL the time. She kept trying to turn round and see us, and sniff and play, but they just pulled and dragged her along. It was mean.
Tara jumped up here all by herself! But it meant I got the water first. hahahah!
This was our view from the drinking bench. Mum says all that marsh grass on the beach is new. so the marsh is spreading.
Tara:
Me now!
This is me on the bench, with my pigtails, and my bows and my cute ness. I was a bit panty. My bows co- coord- um... match my tongue, don't they? And I have sand on my face from fighting Cato.
This is titchy Cato, on the ground with a wet beard. Hahaha!
There were lots of people on our beach. And the tide had only just gone out, so the sand woz all soft and squidgy like mud. It woz great!
These are my foots prints. I was running to Dad. Cos I love him.
These are Cato foots. They look bigger than mine, but they aren't really. And he was only trotting.
Mum saw this and said 'Yikes! the water channel has shifted. Looks like we will be climbing over the breakwaters!'
That sounds exciting, doesn't it? Hahaha!
This is a slope up to the dunes. Can you see me, waaaay up high? I was practicing my climbing, like wot Mum said.
This is where the beach disappeared, and we had to climb. Well, I climbed. Cato got carried, cos he didn't like it. He says that a lot, doesn't he?
Look at this. I woz trying to show Cato how to do it, but he got stuck. But he made it back down by himself. Which Mum says woz very brave of him. I think I am braver, cos I went right up and over!
Then the beach came back, and we didn't need to climb any more.
This is a flat coated retriever with toffee eyes who sniffed my bottom. He was very soggy, and did a big poo.
This is the bottom bit of the railing thing we saw earlier. Even Cato climbed the steps.
And this is us catching up with Dad on the way back to the car. Dad woz walking very fast, cos it had just started to rain.
