The group I got this from are in my home town and have just sent in real good color reference picture from a museum where it's been restored to true colors......will be tweeting it tomarrow for them and share the update when finished....steam engines are just amazing. 

Oh I Love this Crystal, reminds me of the trains I saw as a kid back home! Thanks for the warm memories this morning, made my day!  

Brilliant - I have to show this to Mr C.

We just watched Hell on Wheels, and all the way through it he was grumbling and grouching about how no rails would be laid without proper hardcore underneath the sleepers and that isn't historically accurate, there would be subsidence, and the tracks would warp!

It really baked his noodle.

And now you have shown us a pic of a line track where the sleepers seem to be laid EXACTLY like they were in Hell On Wheels.

Haha!

Heres another I want have to do...just to add icing to his cake 

 

This is what they look like in the UK.  Earth dug away, layer of hardcore with sleepers on top, then more hardcore between, stopping them from subsiding or moving, then the track on top.  On Hell On Wheels, the sleepers were lying directly on the earth, with soil backfilled between them - just like in those old pics you are working on.

I like this @PipsMom the dainty pink tiny flowers on the left bottom is a really nice touch!

Can`t see the restoration  ....photo not found it says....

Photobucket had a hiccup, so I reloaded different, it's there now

First of all Crystal I will say it again ..........you missed your calling........when I saw the first picture I thought immediately it was Sheila and I still think it is her after looking at the others.....the first picture in the second grouping resembles one of her granddaughters.........just a guess..........
