Cato:    Aunties!!! Look wot I found!  Isn't it BEAUTIFUL!!!

IMG_3429_zpsnuyx4cmx.jpg

I found it here.  It is sniffy and soggy and utterly perfect.  I took one look at it, and KNEW it was meant to be...

I just gave it a gentle sniff to start with.  And rolled it around a bit.  Just to get to know it, you know.

But then I rolled it about, and between Dads legs... it was MARVELLOUS.

And I found some sticky out bits, and I can pick it up!  Look!

Dad offered to carry it for me.  But I found it.  And it is MINE.  And although I love Dad, I wanted to carry it all by myself.

See?

I did let Dad lift it into the car though.  Onto my car bed.  Then I sat on it all the way home, so Tara couldn't get it.

I love it.

It is right next to me in my bed now, where I can smell it.  Do you think it will be safe, if I have a little snooze?

Tara:

Oooh Aunties!  It was our first walk in AGES, and I really really really needed to bounce.  A LOT.

And sniff.

This woz my first sniff.  Cato had just widdled on that rock.

these are Dalmations.  They were a bit fat.  And very big.  And they walked faster than us.  I thought they were going to sniff me or something, but all they wanted to do was run about and swim.

This is us.  We made some faces at the ducks, but they were more interested in the lady who had bread for them.

I got Cato to do some proper fun and bouncing for a bit, before he found that dratted ball.   He is much less floppy and more bouncable now the weather is nice and cool.

Don't know where Cato got this move from.  He almost got me!

Country%20Park%20011_zps7rjbrqdy.jpg

So I had to Fu Dog him!

Country%20Park%20012_zpssvqeiavd.jpg

But I got him good, didn't I Aunties?

After he found the ball, Cato just got fixy - fixay - tid.  And it was boring.

Here I am on a bench with my Dad.  He is pretending that I need a drink, and that he doesn't have treats in his other hand.  But I know better!  Hahaha!

Country%20Park%20018_zps1qbybl8v.jpg

And look at the black pigeon in the tree!  We chased it good and proper!  It was sitting on MY bench, so we chased it away.  But then it decided to land!  Cheeky!  So then we chased it again!  And it went up into the tree and stared at us and used bad words to swear at us, and as soon as we went away, it came back and sat on my bench again.  Bad bird!

Country%20Park%20022_zpsqudycdie.jpg

This is when Cato was doing all that silly ball stuff.  He wouldn't play with me any more.  So I did some mountaining.

Country%20Park%20029_zpsa1e84bad.jpg

He was very mean, and wouldn't share AT ALL!

Mum:

Have you ever seen so many hawthorn berries? It is incredible this year.

Country%20Park%20023_zpsjatwiyqz.jpg

and I don't know what these are - possibly rosehips?

What a find Cato!  A tennis ball that has already been customized!  LOL - we are at this very moment waiting for Bentley to come over.  Bentley is my daughter's Aus Cattle Dog.  His family is away for a few days so we're taking him for walks.  I told the Big Guy to bring him here so he can hang out with me.....it's going to rain all day.  Bentley believes ALL tennis balls should be customized and they are Shortie's favorites......very good for flinging.

Cato:

It is a lovely treasure, isn't it?  I have decided to keep it in my bed, at the end of Mum's desk.

Has Bentley custardised any of Shortie's tennis balls?  I would love to see them, if he has!  Mine is perfect, of course.  But one day, I might decide to custard it a bit more.  Just, you know, if I ever wanted to...

Getting them started is the hard part Cato........maybe you can get a dog-friend who is stronger, with bigger toofies to get it started for you.

Shorty did have a nicely custardsized one but we left it in Oregon when we came back to CA.

Custardised.....giggle.  Makes me remember when I was a very small girl and Daddy used to call people bastards sometimes.  Being a little kid I, of course, picked things up  -  one time I called someone a Gustard and it was a family joke for a long time.

Oh Cato what a great find..........your so lucky my Mom would say YUCH if I came trotting up with it in my mouth and it would go to the nearest trash bin............we have balls in our toy boxes but none of us are into the sport of playing with balls but if you ever come to visit I will have some for you to play with but so your know they are not custardised..........I bet my Andy would do it for you though........he likes to do stuff like that.

Your buddy

Beautiful! Where do you guys live? It looks like Ireland to me in these pictures

Mum:

We are in North East Lincolnshire.

This walk was in one of the local parks.  Created in the 70s, I think, with a dug out lake, and a couple of drainage becks out to the sea.  I think it serves a double purpose, - a nice park, and surface water drainage for the housing estates and golf course that surround it!  hahaha!

And yes, it is a beautiful area.  Very flat, not very wealthy, but so many good places (woods, parks, roads, beaches) to walk, it is like being a child in a sweetshop, every morning.

Cato:

Don't worry Bailey!  I am guarding my treasure well!  I wanted to bring it up to the Big Bed with me last night, so I would know it was safe, but Mum did say 'Yuck!' and then said 'No!' :(  Mums are weird, sometimes, aren't they?

But it was safe when I came down this morning, so it was OK.

Thank you for the offer of balls.  The thought of all those yet-to-be-custardised balls all over the world is VERY EXCITING!
