SATURDAY 23rd October: Town walk with Auntie :)

Tara:

We had a lovely walk today.  With AuntieSue.  And I got to sit on her lap!  And I love her.

Cato was all pushy and wanting attention, see?

But look how much I love her!  I love her more than he does!

And isn't my bow pretty?

Mum was doing lots of yellow tree stuff as we walked round.  Not interesting.

This is me asking for AuntieSue and Mum to sit down.  They didn't.  I really like this bench.  I jump up on it every time we go past.  Doing my athleticals, you see.  In case we ever get to go mountaining on hol again.  I hope we do!

This is a Yorkie.  I think her name was Lexie or something.  I thought she woz a TIGER to start with, but she was just wearing a posh Tiger coat.  Mum says that a Tiger coat wouldn't suit me. :(

This is me beating Cato up.

That is always the best bit, isn't it? Good exercise too!  Hahaha!

This is me looking cute after he tried to mess my hair up.

Cato:

I didn't see all these birds!  Mum should have told me!  After my fabulous pigeon hunt yesterday, it would have been FAB to go and catch me some pigeon/duck/gull tea, wouldn't it?

We met lots and lots of people.  And we said hello to them all.  There woz a lady in a wheelchair, and we got lifted up so we could see her, and little humans all over the place.  And they were all nice.  And one lady came up and said she wanted a Shih Tzu terribly, but is working full time. :(  So Mum and she agreed that it would be hard to have a puppy.

We are deciding which way?

and this is me wondering why AuntieSue and Mum are fussing with the red rose.

TownPark%20with%20AuntieSue%20016_zpsb0k

This was a HUGE Irish Wolfhound.  He is the same colour as me.  And he liked me.  I liked him too.  His dad laughed when we sniffed.  And Mum said how lovely and gentle he was.  Tara was scared, of course.

Mums boring flower stuff:

A few low key plants still valiantly flowering, but very few roses.

and the Horse Chestnuts are settling down for the cold.  In the height of summer the shade was so deep under those trees is was like walking in a Cathedral.

Does anyone know what this flower is?  Only they have planted a whole bed of it for winter colour, and I don't remember ever seeing it before.

I think think that newly planted bed of red flowers are asters.  They like cool weather.  We have them coming up in Oregon as a weed/perennial.  I've seen them in coastal California too.  The wild ones (I've seen are lavender and spindley) - but you can buy all different colors in the nurseries.

I dunno......back to edit.  Your leaves look much more fleshy than the pics I found.

I want to plant some ornamental purple kale - hope to go to the nursery tomorrow.  I'll see if find anything like those :-)

Nice to see some roses still in bloom.

The trees do look pretty in all their Autumn wonder. But I hate the thought of winter, just around the corner.

Look at you two lapping up the fuss ?

so maybe the flower beds will be a riot of whites and pinks and reds.

They spread to 10 inches 25cm) but the link says they flower spring and summer, so not sure why they are using them for autumn planting...?!?!

Another link I found says 'should be planted out after all danger of frost has passed'.

Hmmm.

poor little things are going to have a hard winter, aren't they?

@Marlene how did the kale hunt go?  I love those things too.  And the purple and white ornamental cabbages too.
