TUESDAY 7th December: Walking in the dark
Cato: Everything sniffs different in the dark, doesn't it?
Mum and Dad couldn't walk us in daylight yesterday and then Dad had to go to do his shifty thing, and Mum finished her computer stuff, and she took us for a street walk in the dark! Tara doesn't really like it. I think it is because she pulled most of her topknot out 5 mins before we left, so she couldn't see properly. Wot with it being all dark. She was spooking a lot, and once she spooked and jumped away from something right into Mum's way, so of course Mum kicked her, cos she couldn't help it. And then Tara did her puppy screech that she has never grown out of. She wasn't hurt at all.
Not that there was anything to spook at. I could see that.
But we did have some good sniffs. Lots of soggy leaves, and water puddles, and poo sniffs, and cats and post widdles, and we went down the road and the high street and more roads and then we got home all sudden like. There were bins out too, which are always good for sniffing. And recycling boxes. I LOVE recycling boxes, cos people put food tins in them, and sometimes paw food tins, so they are REALLY INTERESTING only Mum never gives us enough time for a thorough investigate.
She does let me sniff a bit, but then she takes a step forward, so the lead is straight. That is the first sign.
Then she says 'Come on!' in a brisk way. And I know I only have seconds left. So I sniff really hard!!!
Then she says 'Cato! Come on!' and gives a little tug on the lead. And then I have to stop and go on to the next sniff.
Luckily there is always another...
