THURSDAY 29th December: Swan Day

Crinkly

Tara:  Fab walk!  except for the nasty humpy dog, and the hissy swans, and the crispy mud.  But the rest woz FAB!!!

This is how icy it woz.  That white stuff is crispy water, and it is VERY slippy.  Mum and Dad were waddling like ducks!  Haha

Then these two GIANT paws came charging up!  I hid behind Mum, cos they were scary.  They rushed up to Cato - and do you know wot he did?

IMG_3628_zpsyrwjexvv.jpg

He woz as cool as a cucumber, Mum says.  He went over to this tree thing, and he did a wee!  With them watching!  Mum wanted to take a pic of him with his leg up, but she woz too slow, so this is when he had finished and was walking off.  All laid back and chilled.  And the Dalmation was queueing up to sniff his wee!

And the weird brown whiskery one was humping!  Just humping the air!  like he woz obsessed or something!  It woz very strange, and I stayed well behind Mum, and then behind Dad.

So then we all started walking off, and the Weird humpy one came over to me and started sniffing me, so I SCREECHED, and made everyone jump.  And both the big paws went back to their Mums.  I am glad they did that, cos I didn't want to be Air Humped by Weird Whiskers!!!  It was freaky!

This lady woz nice, and her paws were nice, but I think they would have been happier off lead.

Mum says it woz very sunny today.  Dad says it woz cold.  Cato says it woz sniffy - well he ALWAYS does, doesn't he? - and I say it was crispy and scary and swanny.

IMG_3636_zpsofqyk4jz.jpg

Can you see the sawns?  They were all over the place today.

IMG_3637_zpsofwdwt8k.jpg

See?  Mum says that the dirty one isn't dirty, he is just a puppy.

IMG_3638_zpsubcn4tjg.jpg

And these are grownups.  They are really big when you get to see them close!

IMG_3644_zpsefwfmxjp.jpg

And this one was looking at me!  Gulp.

Can you see Cato sticking his head into the pic!  More cucumberation!  I didnt' want to get that close!  But that is cos I am sensible.  Cato is just suffereing from Air Widdling Cucumber poisoning, isn't he?

IMG_3648_zpswbnnxs5o.jpg

We walked all the way round the park on the grass, cos Dad thought the grass woz easier to walk on than the path.  That made it nice and sniffy.  But then Mum got a bit bothered cos she realised her and Dad were heffalumping all over where the sprouty crocus things would grow, and they hopped off to the side cos they didn't want to squish them.

Cato pretended not to see this swan, cos he would have had to pretend to hunt it, if he had.

I saw it, and went and hid behind Dad.

Can you see all those little humans.  They were running about shouting and playing with balls.  Humans are weird.

IMG_3652_zpsujwsazc6.jpg

Mum says that the houses are all still for sale.  And she says you will know wot that means.  I dunno though.

IMG_3653_zpsfjtaqeek.jpg

And this is Dad giving us treats.  Mum says my moustache looks magnificent.  And it does, doesn't it?  Haha!  Cato was trying to out-cute me.  But Dad gave me the treat first.  That's cos I'm his favourite.

And then we went back to our new stinky car, to our new stinky crate, and came home.

Mum's plant pics:

Mahonia, in full bloom, with the frost drying on its leaves.

A gorgeous frilly fungus growing out of an old willow.  The red tag is put on by the groundsmen, to monitor the trees.  I think they are all tagged, so they can know how old they are.

Not sure what this is, but it is in full bloom, without a leaf in sight.  Lovely.  I couldn't get close enough.

Same with this one. :) didn't feel I could go wading into the middle of the flowerbed to get closeups.

Cato......I know you are verrrry tough - but watch out for those swans.  They are mean!

Love the Mahonia blooms......seems really early for that (the bloom).  I planted some this year, can't wait to see them in bloom in the Spring.  I have a lot of them on the Oregon coast where they are called Oregon Grape and do very well.  A man who came to clean the carpet had a fit at the big black berries all over them (after the flowers) and wanted to pick some for jam.  I told him to take all he wanted - less for the birds to eat and poop purple poop all over the place!

What a crisp morning for a walk.  The swans are beautiful and my first encounter with one was not pleasant......was walking around a pond that had some swans with their babies and one of the swans came charging out of the pond after me to let me know I was to close for her or his  liking.........today was the day for big dogs in the park.....they look like giants next to the two of you. Cato you are very brave.......proud of you.
