Sat 4th Feb: AuntieSue and Hellebore Day

Crinkly

Tara:  Hello Aunties.  We went to meet AutnieSue at Town Park today and there where these Hellebooring things all over the place.  You will see just how boring they were when you get to the pics.  Yawn.  But I don't mind, cos I can tell you about meeting AuntieSue who gives us treats.  And stuff like that.

This is First Sniff before we met Auntie.

And this is some big old boring tree wot Mum remembers from last summer when they cut all its arms off, but now it is growing its hair back.  Or something.  Sometimes I think Mum is obsessified with green things.  It isn't healthy, isn't it?

Oh, I need to tell you!  Today I am wearing my pink bow, specially for Auntie Sue.  And Cato didn't manage to get it off me!  Ha!  He tried, but Mum stopped him.  Hahaha!

This is the sticky out root of the big tree.  Cato peed on it.  Of course.  But not til AFTER Mum took the pic.

This is me realising that Cato has gone off hunting.  And I am NOT fat.  I am fluffy.  And warm.

Can you see him?  He was duck hunting.  And he switched off his ears and pretended he hadn't heard Mum when she called.

I would never do that!

Haha!  he didn't hunt anything, did he?  They were all up flying, not floating.  Haha!

There is another of those weird big squirrels here.  Sometimes children climb on it.  It is hardly green at all.

Mum said something about you wanting to see these.  Cos they are daisies or something.

These tow paws were HUGE, and dirty.  The big old white one rolls in stuff.  Her Mum says.  Her Mum loves her very much.  And then along came the Frenchie.  They all wanted to sniff me!  But I tucked my tail right under and scooted round behind Mum.

More flowers.  Same as last week but fluffier.

This is My Band Stand.  I wanted to go around it, where the red roses used to be.  Can you see my Pink bow?  I tried to climb it, but it woz a bit too tall.

DSCN4644_zpsdzjdgmzs.jpg

The stinky roses used to live here.  There is a path right round the roses, by the benches.  And there woz a man and some kids using it as a bicycle race track.  It was scary.  Mum got me across the race track using treats.  I like treats.  But Cato just stood in the middle and watched the bicycles come round... if Mum hadn't called him again and got an extra treat out, he would have been squisheded.

Cato made these new friends.  I didn't want to say hello on account of the boy's steering.  But Cato has no idea...

Oh, and these are the hellishboring things.  I am going to go to bed now and sleep through the rest of the blog cos... you know... green stuff.

Mum:

These are sprouting all over the park!  Still buds, mostly.  But they are going to be amazing.  What do you call them?  I think I have seen them called Winter Rose or Christmas Rose.  Yes?

Unfortunately, poisonous to dogs, otherwise I would have some in my garden, because they really are beautiful, and I am told that they smell lovely, but I have never quite bent down far enough... lol.

AuntieSue and I both thought they looked like peonies to start with - but it is far too early for peonies to sprout.  But then we realised they were Helebores, and that they were everywhere.

Beautiful.

and then this too.  is it a holly?  I did wonder about a Broom, but that isn't right.  The leaves are more holly like.

Purty sure the bush with yellow flowers is another Mahonia.  I am fascinated by those little flowers coming up all over the place.
