Homemade English Toffee

Recommended Posts

I received the most simple recipe for homemade english toffee candy from a gal I work with and I can't tell you how good it is too.

This is not a joke.... this is the actual recipe...

---------------------------------------------------

* Butter - (real butter sticks, not spread, oleo or margerine)

* Granulated Sugar

* Broken Pecans or walnuts, which ever you prefer.

* 1 HUGE family size Hershey Chocolate Candy Bar (Plain, no almonds in it)

---------------------------------------------------

Start with equal parts of butter

Equal parts mean, (depending on how much you wish to make)

ie: 2 sticks of butter = 1 cup of butter to 1 leveled cup of granulated sugar.

Melt the butter in a medium size sauce pan on med to med high.

Place a candy thermometer onto the pan.

Add the sugar and stir well until dissolved into the melted butter.

Do not increase the level of heat, but allow to cook and boil at med - med/high heat, stirring often, but not too much...

Until the thermometr reads 300 degrees (hard crack stage).

Immediately add your nuts and remove from heat and pour/scrape all the hot mixture onto a flat (sprayed with Pam style oil)

and spread out onto the pan...

Allow to cool until hard to the touch.

In a microwave safe bowl...melt the Hershey Bar and immediately pour the entire chocolate over the hardened toffee...

Allow the chocolate to cool and reset as was prior to melting...

Break into desired size pieces (I like to place the pan in the fridge for about 1/2 hour as it helps it break into pieces better)

and ENJOY!!!!98.gif

How simple is that? Huh? LOL
