Just received these in the mail and I thought I'd share as they're better than the ones originally posted
Feels like it was so long ago, I was totally lost last weekend as it was the first one home in a month . I didn't quite know what to do with myself as I kept feeling like I should be somewhere!
I think I'm in trouble, roflol. I have made friends with several sales associates in different stores and now when there's a huge sale, they call me up and ask about what I might be interested in. I had 2 call me up last week about sale items and they held things in the back room for me till I could get there to try them on . I think it's so sweet of them to do that but a girl can get into some serious trouble that way . I did get 3 pair of Cache jeans for 75% off which in itself is a major deal! As I stated, I think I'm in trouble but at least I'm saving money, sort of B)
Well Saturday night was our final performance and it was great. I couldn't help but to feel excited knowing that it would be the best yet as everyone was ready to give it their all. At the same time there is also that feeling of sadness, that we would not be together anymore, everything was coming to an end. We have spent so many hours together and even though we're exhausted, we ran on pure adrenaline and motivated eachother with a renewed excitement each performance. To say this was an awesome experience doesn't even begin to explain how I feel as I have learned things about myself and have accomplished things I never knew I could! I've also made some great new friends.
After our final performance, about 25-30 people came over to my house (about midnight ) for the "Wrap Party" . We reminisced about our entire experience sharing what we thought were some of the best highlights, each one being better then the previous . We had presented the Director with a gift which was a photo album (covered in suede to give a western look) which held 50 photos. Under each photo page it had a few lines so you were able to add comments. We each took turns and added either lines from the play or improv lines for those pics we were in. In addition, we each wrote an index card with a personal message to him and added it to the back of the album. We matted, signed and framed a poster from the show as well, needless to say he liked them very much
I have ordered a DVD of the show, I can hardly wait as I have yet to see what we actually look like on stage performing!
All I can say is I'm so exhausted but thrilled at the same time. I can not believe how fast this is going by, just finished another 3 performances, only 2 more left coming up this Friday and Saturday. I've updated my last entry with pictures, you can see it Here if you've missed it . Saturday night will be our last performance and I have decided to host the cast/wrap party which will take place after we clean up the popcorn after the show. In other words it will start about midnight and go on till? Wow, I can't believe it's coming to an end. I'm already starting to feel a little sadness setting in .......................
Well 3 of 8 performances are done already, I'm surprised how fast it's going and yet so glad that we have a few very much needed days off . I love this experience but am totally exhausted, probably due to all the adrenalin we build up and expend each night. Friday's show was an extremly small audience, almost disappointing in a way but last night we sold the show out including a few extra chairs that they decided to add at the last minute in one of the ailses. It was amazing as you draw so much from the crowd. They just get so into booing the villains and cheering the heros and some of their comments are so funny, you just feed right off their lines . When we were done with the play, we came out to meet and greet our audience and its so awesome to hear the feedback, especially the kids who are so thrilled to meet you .
We had received word that the next 2 Fridays and Saturdays are just about sold out, fewer then 10 tickets remaining at each as well as this Thursday's is about 3/4 sold. :buddies:
Well last night was the unofficial opening night, with tonight being the official. Difference is last night was a free performance for seniors and tonight will be a paying audience. We had about 60 show up and everything was great! It was amazing to actually be able to perform what we had been rehearsing for so many nights. Everyone was so psyched and ready for this, we just fed off of eachother's energy. I can't believe that I wasn't even the slightest bit nervous during the show. I am looking forward to tonight's performance too. 1 down, 7 more to go , I'm so glad I did this!
This will be a short entry as I have to leave shortly for our first Dress Rehearsal, Yay!!!!
Last night was our first time on the actual stage using lighting, curtains, everything but costumes. I just had to share what I thought was a funny moment:
Them: Susan you need to go into the light
Me: No, I don't want to! lol
Them: But you have to go into the light
Me: But I'm blinded by it
Them: That's right then, that's how it's supposed to be, you must go into the light!
Me: No I don't want to go into the light! I can't see the damn chords on the ukulele than!
We had a lot of fun being on the stage last night, this is really coming up fast and I am so looking forward to actually wearing costumes tonight, hmm better get off this computer and pack up, still have to do hair and makeup although tomorrow is a real full dress rehearsal. Today is mainly a focus on actual costumes! :P
Okay so today's episode of set building/tech practice ended early but was still productive. What we did today was decided on who was going to be taking on or off what from the stage as well as who was going to be closing and reopening the curtains when. I've taken a couple of more shots of the stage so here is what the set will essentially look like
Today was a long & exhausting but fun day. We all met at the storage building at 10am to help load the truck with the items needed to build the set as well as furnishings like a desk, chairs, tables, etc. After the truck was loaded we all went to the Conservation League which is where our production is being held to build the set. It's amazing how an empty open room will be transformed into a theater complete with stage, lighting, curtain and all. Here are some shots I took with my camera phone to give you a general idea of the work area we're in.
What you see in this shot is a couple of the guys starting to install a wall on the stage edge.
A couple of others working on the stage, yes it isn't all that big and 11 of us will be sharing it
This is an area which will be where the audience will sit at tables to watch the play. Everything is covered with tarps to protect the carpeting, we had to paint various things today and I would have taken another shot of the stage with all the walls up if I had not been covered in black paint . I will take some more shots tomorrow so you can see what the completed set looks like.
This is Rosie who is painting a mural of a mine shaft from an image someone found, she had just started it. I have to get a shot of the finished painting, I heard she is a wonderful artist . I was there till 5 today and even though it was a very busy and tiring day, it was still lots of fun. I will have to update hopefully tomorrow night as I'll be there from about 1- at least 5 again. It's so hard to believe that Thursday evening will be our first performance in front of an actual audience , it seemed to take so long to get here but the time is now going by so fast! I'm excited, scared, nervous and thrilled .
Okay, here are some bad pictures of the cast of the play. These were taken by the director and we were paying attention more to the photographer instead, but you get the idea of the cast here.
Well our last week of rehearsals start Monday with the following Monday through Wednesday being full dress rehearsals followed by an unofficial performance for the seniors on Thursday the 4th. It has really snuck up quickly. We have convinced the director to let us play 2 songs and just sing the rest as there's no way we can do all 5 on the ukulele in time for the show, he agreed so all is good.
From Left to Right, Tiara, Tinsel and Trinket
Well it's been a week of full rehearsals and we've been officially off book all week, meaning no reading the lines from the script . I am amazed how well everything is going, things are getting cleaned up and timing is going great. This is really a lot of fun and I'm glad I made up my mind to do this, it's a great group to work with. Nick, the director has now given us girls 4 or 5 songs to learn to sing and play , not gonna happen! I've got one almost down, if I can master a second, well, lets not think about it for now !
That will be the hardest thing to get through, we'll see what happens. We will only have 2 rehearsals next week and then starts tech week, it will be a full week of rehearsals Monday through Thursday. I can't believe how fast its coming up now.
I just have to say how wonderful it feels to get back into a "normal" routine. I have made it to the gym 3 days in a row now. It's amazing how long it takes to build up strength and stamina but losing it happens so quickly. I was a little frustrated the first day back which was Sunday as while I was on the elliptical, my heart rate was climbing and getting too high despite the fact that I didn't feel like I was working that hard. I listened to the monitor and just stood where I should be as I felt that would be best. I did get to see the trainer for a couple of minutes yesterday as she barked at me" Do you have the ok from your Dr to be back! " rofl! She told me that it's normal and with the way I work out, that after a couple of times it'll catch up. Today it was fine and where it should be. As for the weights, it'll take a little longer to get back to where I was .
I have play rehearsals Monday through Thursday evenings this week so I'll blog about the week later on after it's done. :P
Well finally it came, no more stitches! I went yesterday morning to have them removed and I'll tell you it couldn't have come quick enough. On Wednesday when I was out and about it seemed my bandage was slipping a bit. I didn't think much of it until I was in the middle of things on Thursday. I realized that I was feeling some discomfort but decided to wait since I'd be going in Friday morning. I was correct and it has really irritated my suture line but all will be fine, just a little uncomfortable is all and of course it made the suture removal a little painful. I have a good rapport with my Doctor and I asked him of course about getting back to the gym. He responds with "Boy you are a pain in the ass about that! Sure go!" of couse saying it with the biggest grin and I asked restrictions? He laughs and says you know what to do, so tomorrow I will try and see what I can do as I'm still not totally back to normal yet but I'm sure it'll help.
Had to go to the Town Rec Center for their Spring Activity for a bit last night, needed to check that things that were supposed to be done were and boy was it busy. Only part of my youth group showed up but it was better than no one so it was ok. I couldn't stay as it was so crowded and kids running circles all over, if someone would have stepped on me I'd think I'd have to kill them especially feeling the way I was. I also had to drive out a bit to someones home who was kind enough to invite me and show me the chords to play on the ukulele for the play. He said the first song isn't bad, a little tough at 2 changes but if I practice a little each day I'd have it down. He said the other 2 will be impossible as there are just way too many changes for someone who's never played before to pick up in such a short time. We'll see what happens B)
Well what can I say about tonight other then it was awesome! They took our head shots first and then we ran to get dressed real quick. It turns out the get-up I put together will end up being my costume with an embelishment of tinsel on the hems, and Leslie the costumer is looking for a black petticoat for me. So my costume will be black and red and decorated with silver. I had a red boa too and the other girls are in green/black and white/red and a multi color print, so we're all different and very colorful especially together. They took group shots and then proceeded to take scene shots. Then we ran through 10 scenes of the play uninterupted and it's really coming along quite well. I am so looking forward to this I know I'll miss it when it's done. I am getting more comfortable with improv and had the cast laughing at some of my antics which means I'm finally getting comfortable myself. Rehearsal will be a 1/2 hr earlier tomorrow. They also gave us postcards to mail out as invites to our friends and family. I have to work on a short funny bio and am having a hard time coming up with something witty, guess I'll have to work on that tomorrow at some point
I also received a CD with 3 songs on it that I will have to learn and Nick the director says the ukuleles should be here by the end of the week, B)
Well last night was a good rehearsal, went from 7 till almost 10. We went over 3 different scenes and made some minor adjustments. It's really something to see how it's all pulling together and everyone really seems to be getting into their characters now. I found out that on Monday, it will be a full cast rehearsal and someone will be there to take publicity photos as well as cast head shots . What this means is we all have to pull together some type of costume and be dressed for the photos, this should be interesting as our costumer is not reachable . The director is working on getting a key to costume storage for us on Saturday some time so we can see if we can borrow some items and match it with what we have to work something out. I do so love a challenge  . The director is also requesting that me as well as my 2 counterparts learn how to play a Ukulele (I couldn't even spell it, never mind play it ) for our entertainment pieces I don't know about that but I'll try anything once.
I have to go back tonight for a short rehearsal at 8, till then.......................
Well I've been feeling pretty good although I've been going a little stir crazy, not used to being restricted but so be it . I am allowed to walk on the ball of my foot, just not put any weight on the heel and I can walk as much as I can tolerate, ok, he doesn't know me very well, I did escape yesterday and today for a bit, walked the whole mall yesterday , don't tell anyone, lol. I've found it very hard sleeping at night and I think it's because I'm not expending any energy but last night was easier. Tonight I have a play rehearsal so hopefully that'll help. I did get an ok from Doc to go to the gym and work my upper body but 1. I don't know how well I'd refrain from not doing more than I should and 2. I don't think the gym staff would appreciate me being there in a surgical shoe, I'd think it'd be frowned upon. I go back to the Doc on Friday morning and he said he may give me the ok to start walking on the whole foot then. We'll see
Well I found out I need to be there at 12:30pm , hmm was really hoping for first thing in the morning as I am not allowed anything by mouth after midnight but I'll have time to lounge around in the morning waiting around grrr. I have everything done at home that needed to be done, more or less so now I'm just waiting. This is going to be a long night but nowhere as long as my morning will be
OK, it's now 10:16 and I'm going stir crazy as I don't know what to do with myself
I have 2 hours to go yet B)
Well I went in for another blocking rehearsal Monday night, I am having so much fun with this. It is going to be extremely differcult to keep a straight face during this play . I don't have to worry about much more now till early April as thats when the actual rehearsals will begin so I won't have much more to add for a couple of weeks, which is good as I won't have to worry about missing much after my surgery.
At least thats what the calendar says . When I left this morning it was cold windy and snowy, so much for spring Currently the temp is about 26F or -4C but the sun is out and the snow gone. I am still surprised we've not had a huge snowfall this winter. I feel like it's waiting out there, lurking and going to hit us when we least expect it. I can't wait to feel the warmth of the summer sun and at this time of year I start to get impatient as I'm so weary of the cold, drab weather. At least we're almost there B)
Well I went to the Doctors today for my pre-op visit, . He asks "so are you ready" and of course I start to laugh and ask "are you ready" . He said he's looking forward to it as it's a different surgery then what he commonly gets to do, it's not unfamiliar just not the same daily routine. So I was a good girl, got my blood drawn at the lab, have my pain perscription to fill which I'll do this weekend and now I just have to get my call from the surgi-center to find out what time next Thursday I need to be there. It seemed like it took forever to get here and now I'm just a week away from it , can't wait till it's done although the 2-3 weeks following will be the toughest for me to deal with. I don't like being restricted. Oh I asked how big he thought the nodule was and he said he's guessing close to 4 cms. We'll see next week I guess..........
Well on Monday evening, I went to meet the cast of the play. We read through the entire thing and I'll have to say that I'm really starting to look forward to this, it will be quite funny . Now as for me, as of Monday night, I had zero in the way of lines, lol. All I knew was that I'd be playing a saloon girl and that things will come in time. I had to attend a blocking rehersal last night for the first and last scenes. I now have a name and several lines. My name is Tinsel , will have to work on changing that. Has to be a "T" and compliment Tiara and Trinket, as we are a threesome . We are together in everything we do on stage, and yes, I have to sing too although I'm not sure what, these poor people . If you have any suggestions for a glittery, sparkly "T" name, let me know. Oh and yes, I will be wearing a showgirl costume complete with fishnets, that will be interesting
I don't meet again till next Wednesday evening, till then..........
I am not a fan of grocery shopping but I usually go on a Sunday to do my weekly shopping. I needed to pick up lots of "odd things" this time such as spices and such. You know the kind of items you'd not normally buy more then a couple times a year and are never in the same location as you found them last time . Our local store here is forever rearranging things and even their own employees are never really sure where things were relocated. I was just about done with my shopping when I remembered that I needed OJ. I parked my cart at the end of an aisle as it was very crowed where the juice was as I have often done so many times before. I grabbed my juice and walked back to my cart to find out it was missing . I didn't leave it for more than possibly 20 seconds and it vanished! Someone must have decided that they either liked what I had better or took my cart instead of theirs by mistake. I'm sure they'll be in for a surprise at the checkout, lol. There was a cart where mine had been so I am assuming that is what happened. Unfortunatly the stuff in their cart wasn't anything I had wanted or even liked. I waited for a little bit to see if they'd come back to trade again but no one did sooooo...........
I had to start all over again and the worst part was my list was left in the cart so I had to try and remember what it was I needed. Of course I couldn't remember it all and I'll have to make another trip again to get a couple of items. This was such a long shopping trip and I'm not done :)
I went to the audition last night for the play. There were 7 of us there auditioning and 3 people to listen to us read, one being the director. I have never done this before and I felt a little out of place as I was the only first timer there . I also found out after I was the only one looking at the script for the first time as the others had known about this audition for at least a week if not longer and had received copies ahead of time . I had no clue before Saturday night that it was being held and to say I felt a little out of place was putting it mildly. The script had lots of directions written in-between the lines and it took a bit of work trying to figure out what I was supposed to read and not read . One of the characters was an actress who was involved in a scheme and was portraying 4 different women giving her 5 different characters in one, and I had to read for this , I was so confused . Each character she portrayed required a different voice and well, lets just say I am not very good at remembering who has to be what voice, lol. We'll see what happens
When I was leaving though just after 9pm, the snow had been coming down for awhile and there were whiteout conditions. I will tell you, that unless you've experienced it, it is not something you can ever fully understand. I was so scared driving home, thankful that I had only about a mile and half to go. There was just like a wall of white blowing at you and you could not tell where on the road you were driving . There were no tire tracks to follow, you could not decipher the shoulder from the road or what side of the road you were even on. Visibility was less then 10ft and thats being generous. Of course about 10 minutes after I got in, the snow had stopped and I heard later on that night we received 3 1/2 inches in 45 minutes, all complementry of Lake Ontario :)
Well many of you who know me know that I am very community oriented and involved in a community service club. Back in the Fall we had a couple of people from our local theater group come to speak at one of our dinner meetings. They had some of us participate in an improv type skit and since, Dick has been trying to get me to go to an audition . I missed the last one in December as I was in London and the play opened this weekend. I had gone with several members of my club and sure enough, I got to speak to Dick. Soooooo, tomorrow night auditions for the next production are being held and guess who's going to audition . I have never acted before and well, thought I'd give it a shot, lol. We'll see what happens and if I update this entry :)
Well yesterday after I helped someone figure out their brand new lap top (loading different programs and stuff) I was just down the road from the mall so I decided to stop on in to see what kind of "Sales" were actually going on. I was amazed to see that JC Penney had multiple rounders full of clothing marked down to $4.77 an item , I had a good time going through them. I found a pretty blouse, 2 skirts, a sweater thats designed like a blazer (originally priced at $72) and 3 lingerie items for a grand total of $28.94
I was thrilled so I continued to another store where I managed to somehow find a blouse to match one of my skirts I had just purchased. I then went to Cache which I love but can't really afford anything in there, to check out their sale.
I found a pair of jeans that I really liked that were originally priced at $149, marked down to $39.50
I had a great shopping day, wish I could have more of those! So has anyone else found any great bargains? :)
