SATURDAY 20th Feb: Tracking

Mum:
Missy's Big Cat Hunt was sooo exciting and inspiring , that we chose the beach today and set out to improve our hunting and tracking skills.
We started with a big breakfast in our favourite beach cafe, with sausages all round - to build our strength for the coming trek.
This is when they were watching Dad place the order.
This is when I (Mum) looked out of the window at the pier and the beach.
A very grey day today. Tide out. Overcast sky. No wind. Quite warm. Good for tracking!
Then we hit the beach:
Tara:
Lots of sniffing
Bits of seeweed and litter and ropey stuff get caught on this fence. Awesome.
Fight! See how agile and clever I am? And how little and squishy Cato is. And I am clearly NOT a heffalump, am I? :
See? 3 feet off the ground like a ballet dancer. But better. More ballettey than a dumpy two legs could manage.
Cato:
Humans are WEIRD!!!
There was a bunch of mad humans in rubber swimming clothes running up an down this bit of beach. You can see where their footprints were. They just ran up and down holding flrorescent poles, and screaming at each other. Then they went up to the cars and drove away. Mum wanted to take a pic of their weirdness, cos they looked very, very silly. But she was too polite.
Arty shot of me and rotting breakwater, and a hidden poo bag. Not sure why anyone would hide a poo bag less than 50 feet from a bin, but as I said, humans are WEIRD.

This is Otis. He is a 3 year old Labradoodle with grey eyebrows. He is nice and much bigger than Tara, so she lay down and submitted. She does this to any dog that is bigger than her. So Otis politely sniffed her knickers, and his cold wet nose touched her. She screamed. He jumped. I think he was much more scared and surprised than she was!
And now for the tracking. It was very exciting. Me and Mum did it all. Tara was off being Tara.
These are the conclusions that we made.
All the pics are roughly the same scale, cos Mum held the camera at the same height all the time.

We tried to get a photo of my footprints, but I didn't make any. Shows how fat Tara is, doesn't it, when she makes footprints, and I don't?
Mum says that I would make a very good Ninja, because I could sneak in over the nightingale floors and no one would hear me. Don't know what she means, or what a nightingale floor is, but I agree with her, cos I want more sausage. Dieting is torture.
