FRIDAY 11th Mar: Sniffy soggy Spring

Crinkly

Cato:

We had to go early for our walk today, so Dad could come with us before he had to go to work.  And we all got in the car and set off.  But then we sat for ages in a car queue which was very boring.  In the end Mum said 'Right!  Change of plan!  we won't go to the Lake Park today.' and she turned the car around.

So that meant it was a surprise Foxy walk today.

Mum and Dad said the grass was too soggy for huge human feet, but it was OK for proper Shih Tzu feet.  Although we may have paddled in the soggy puddles, and got a bit muddy.  There were daffodil puddles, and some of them had come into bloom!

and we saw mushrooms

and the first daisy!

Tara tried to trample them both, and also tried to lick Mum's phone when she bent down to take the photos.  Tara is always getting in the way and slobbering over things.

This is me, at the end, after we had a drink.  I just wanted you to see my tail again.  Because it is a very, very nice tail.

Tara:

We had an ace walk!  Although Mum said we had to do Ping Pong til I dropped, because I whined all the way to the park in the car, and she said I needed to blow off some steam.

This was the first steam blowing - in a fight!

See how clean and white my footsies are?  And how pink and yeasty Cato is? Ewwwww!

This is the second steam off:

This is the longest Ping Pong running we have ever done!  We did it over and over again until Cato gave up - the wimp - and went and sat next to Mum.  But I kept going til I could only just trot!  It was tiring.  LOTS of treats!  yum!

Then we sat at Foxy's bench, and I had a lie down.  And a pant.  It was the warmest day since last summer!

image_zpsm7v8uykm.jpeg

And then I got up on the bench to show you my muddy knickers.  Mum said you would appreciate them.  Especially after seeing how white they were before!

Then I got up onto the table, for an explore, and had a little lie down again.  I was REALLY puffed.

Mum says 'Now we know how to wear her out, we can do this every time!' But she also said that I am 'the most beautiful little girl that has ever existed in the history of the world!'  Dad just says 'Humph!'

Sidney:

I overheard them talk about only letting me out for a couple of hours this morning, but I intend to give them the slip.  It is warm, and dry, and the sun is shining.  I can rest my paw somewhere nice and sheltered in a garden, can't I?  Just as restful as staying in.  Expect me when you see me...

Sid sauntered (in a slightly hobbling way) back home just as it was getting dark.  Humph!  His paw isn't going to get any better if he uses it all the time!

But it has been a gorgeous day.  Felt like it was as warm inside the house as outside.  He must have had a lovely snoozie time somewhere.

@Missysmom thank you for appreciating my tail.  It is my best feature.  And my happiest feature too.  Mum cuts it for me.  We had long discussions about my tail style a long time ago, and decided that with my Wild Woodsman Exploring Scouting nature, a long floppy tail was a bad idea.

So then we tried a few different styles.  My groomer Auntie Leslie didn't like this bit.  She would like me to be in full coat :dribble:but then I wouldn't be able to mud puddle, and I LOVE mud puddling.

Anyway, cleaver-style just tickled my bottom,

and I bum scraped and bum scraped like I had worms.

Then we tried all one length, to the tip of my tail bone.  And that was weird, cos it was all droopy over my hips.

And then Mum just grabbed the scissors one day and did this.  Which I like best.  It doesn't tickle my bum or catch dingleberries, and it is high and full and fluffy.  And Mum says it is really easy to cut.  Like this: (this pic is from the internet.  it isn't my tail shown.  my tail is much nicer, but it is just for illus - illlos - um, just to show you a pic of wot it is like.

But she cuts it shorter at my bum, and longer at the end, so it is more wavy at the waggy end.

I like wagging my tail.

Tara's tail is slowly thickening up, but it will never be as waggy and nice as mine.  She isn't even 18 months old yet.  It is boring black, for a start, and she wags in a figure of 8, flailing about all over the place!  I wag with a side to side bounce, which is better.

Thank you for asking after my tail.  It is one of my favourite things to talk about.

You sure did have a soggy walk and look at those wet paws. As long as you had fun that's all the matters. Looks like you had a great ping pong game......sure was lots of running going on. Tara you have pretty dark eyes........one of your best features, Cato has his tail and you have your eyes..........

Sidney.......I almost thought something happen to you as no mention of Sidney in the blog today. But read on to see you are safe and sound. Here is your funny for today............

Cato:  humans don't 'get' the tail thing.  I mean, you can't call a tail 'thin and wispy' and expect cuddles that evening, can you?  Talk about insulting!

can we have pics of your tail before and after?  I mean, it will never look quite as nice as mine, but it will still look FAB. :)

Lacey, I knew you'd understand ? She's always saying it gets knotty..

Can I have your honest opinion... Do you think Mummy should trim my tail...

Cato's Mum:  you are not, i am afraid, going to get an unbiased answer from Cato.  He is a wee bit too proud of his!

but i would say have a trim and see what you think.  It will always grow back.

the official cut is long, all one length, and i always think that looks utterly perfect on a full coat, but on a shorter cut, i sometimes think it looks out of proportion.

i have noticed with C and T that there is a point where the hair is fluffy, buoyant and 'happy' but once it grows beyond the happy-point it starts to flop and droop.  That is when i trim it.  Both T and C are happy dogs, and their tails need to reflect it.

Oh, and do you have a spray conditioner?  As mentioned elsewhere, i use the Wen revitalising spray.  A couple of days of spraying that into their tails before brushing, and they fluff up beautifully.

ok, i admit it.  I am as biased as Cato. Lol.

you need a balancing post from someone with a loooonnnnng tail

:roflmao:

I always keep Lacey in a fairly short cut, so maybe I will trim some off her tail. I often look at it and think it looks untidy..

I did buy the little bottle of secret weapon and the hypknotic spray. I don't think the hypknotic spray has coconut in it. So I think that will be ok.. Bug haven't tried it yet.

But im just plucking up the courage to try the secret weapon, just to make double sure it's coconut they can't use... And if they can't, I was going to use it on my long hair :ohyeah::ohyeah::ohyeah:

Lacey, my mom says I get a lot of knots in my tail too but geez don't they understand if you wag it a Lot you're gonna get knots, specially if we're out hunting and playing? Knots just mean we're Happy and having Fun!! I personally Love your tail and think you should keep it long like it is! :ohyeah: :throb:Missy

Secret Weapon shampoo additive contains some coconut

The Hypknotic has silicone and other oils but no coconut.

I'm hoping I've got it wrong and they are not allergic to coconut oil. But I still haven't plucked up the courage to use it yet. Although I have some time over Easter that I might try it.. I'll be here if I noticed scratching and can hopefully give antihistamines if need be. And wash off..

I haven't tried the other spray yet for the same reason. So may try that over Easter as well, but not at the same time ... I hope at least one I'd ok.,,

ive also decided that if the secret weapon is no good for them, I'll use it... Hehe
