SUNDAY 13th Mar: Faith restored

Cato:

Great walk today!!!  Mum took us back to the beach, which Tara didn't want.  She was all whiney and clingy.  But Mum said we had to get back on the bicycle - wotever that means!

So we picked up Auntie Jane and went for breakfast.  Another biscuitless cafe, but Mum saved us a sausage, and cut it into pieces.  I think Tara gets bigger pieces than me.  Not sure that is fair. :(

Auntie Jane said how weird Tara was behaving.  All nervous and squeaky, and Mum told her about Brutus and the Border Collie and stuff.  We all agreed that Max wasn't a good person to walk with again.  But that he was probably a nice dog, just not a good dog to walk with us.

Then we went back to the beach.  Very sunny and blue sky and no wind at all.

The sea had come back!  But someone must have taken the plug out of the plug hole, cos it was disappearing as we walked!

These are the salt marshes.  One of Mum's arty shots.

Did you see the huge, slow military helicopter in the sky?  It was going slower than we were!

And there were pink shells in one place.  Mum thinks they might have been there all along, but we didn't see them.  She says maybe the light was different today (it was all crisp and pale gold light instead of the usual bluey or yellowy light).  Don't know if she is right, but suddenly there were all these pink shells EVERYWHERE.  All tiny.  About the size of one of my claws.

And we met lots of NICE dogs today.  No one too big and clumpy and rough.  It was fun.

Tara:

I didn't want to go for a walk today.  First time ever!  It was nice seeing Auntie Jane and having my sausage, but I sat on Mum's foot under the table, and she kept telling me off for whining.  I don't usually whine, but I was nervous.

Then when we got down on the beach, I didn't want to leave Mum's shadow.  Every time a big dog appeared she called me to her and gave me a treat, and I began to feel better.  There was one time I wandered off and a big dog got between me and Mum, but Mum just pretended I wasn't scared, and gave me a treat when I got back to her.  The treats were distracting.  Eventually I got so treated that I forgot to be scared.  But I didn't start beating up Cato until we were nearly home!  That proves how troorma - trowma - scared I was, doesn't it?

We did meet Emily.  She is a 17 week old Westie, and she was nice.  We wanted to play with each other, but she had to go with her Mum and Dad.  Hope we see her again.

Mum:

And - this totally restores my faith that Sirius is keeping an eye on the mutts - by pure chance we stopped and chatted to a couple who had a rambling well behaved pack of beasties.  Two yorkies, a cocker spaniel and a Heinz 57.  They are dog walkers, dog sitters, dog visitors.  Retired police officers, running a bespoke sitting and walking service.  I told them that Tara needs to 'hang out with a pack and get over her belief that all strange dogs are scary' and they gave me a card.  Have already checked them out on Facebook, and they look very promising!  They walk 3-5 miles per walk, and collect and delivery dogs.  Running 2-3 walks a day.

recognise the beach pics? lol

I think we might ask them to take the mutts for a day care visit or two, then maybe an overnighter... and see how it goes.  Then if they could get to walk, in a pack, with other dogs... that would do more to sort out Tara's nerves than I have achieved in the last year!  Trying not to get too hopeful that this may be a step in the right direction!

Sidney:

We are back to the old Draconian prison regime of window opening times.  Only 2 hours, mornign and evening is NOT ENOUGH.  Especially when the sun is shining!

However, it means I have more time to cruise the internet, and read this blog.  It turns out that Mum has not been fully disclosing what has been happening.  @Sohpie's Haven you have a very strange sense of humour, and I am glad that you don't live anywhere near us.   I do not want to be shut outside in the rain, or have bread on my head.  But it is very amusing when it happens to other people.  You won't come and visit, will you?  I might not like that.  Keep torturing other cats though.  I enjoy that...

Oh, and Dad is a bed hog!!!

Once again I loved looking at your beach pictures. My weekly fix ?

As a child, my pockets would be full of shells when I left the beach. I would take them home and stick them on picture frames and make jewellery boxes.

Im pleased to hear you enjoyed your walk today Tara. Nothing worse than a awful doggie making you feel sad about going out.

Sidney, you look so comfy on your bed all snuggled up ? Heaven....
