If you wondered where Mummy had gotten to, our new sofas arrived last Thursday and Mummy's been busy.

Thursday: Daddy had the day off work to surprise Mummy with the sofas.

Friday: The next day Daddy decided to lay our new flooring. It laminate that looks like real wood. Daddy started in the kitchen/diner. He moved all the furniture from the dining room into the living room and put the room divider across the room so we didn't get under his feet.. As if !!! Anyhow while Daddy was busy I climbed on the sofa, then onto the table that was pushed up near the sofa so I could watch him. Donte kept crying as he was a scaredy cat and couldn't get on the table. He was dobbing on me for being up there, but at least I could see Daddy.

Donte

I was pleased to see Mummy had come home from work at lunch time and because it was her half day she didn't have to go back. Mummy took us out for a toilet break, then dumped us back in the room... Charming...

mummy put her old clothes on and rolled up her sleeves to join Daddy to lay the flooring...

We settled down to sleep in the room, while they were banging, sawing and clanking away. On and off they stopped for a quick drink and we had a toilet break and our tea. They didn't stop till 8.30pm. ( Mummy ordered pizza in as they were starving)

Saturday:

Daddy set off to work In the morning. Mummy made our food for the week and put it in tubs to go in the freezer. Daddy came home from work at lunch and they took us out for a lovely walk because we'd been so good the day before.

Then they got changed in their old clothes again and continued to lay the flooring, they finished the dining room and kitchen and was working their way in the living room. That's when they put us in that room and continued to lay the flooring. Once again they didn't stop till late , about 8pm.

Sunday: we feel abandoned... Mummy and Daddy was up bright and early to carry on laying the flooring. Mummy would stop every now and again to take us out to the toilet and feed us... We they had a coffee break (10 minutes) we would have a quick cuddle... They didn't finishe laying the flooring till late Sunday evening.. They finished laying it all at 7.30 ish.

Mummy.

What a weekend. We have put down new flooring, which covers the whole of downstairs. We didn't want to rush it, but we also didn't want it lasting days on end. And I'm a bit of a perfectionist...

I must say, Donte and Lacey were the perfect paws. They were so good.. I really can't fault them, they let us get on with it..

But- I feel so guilty for hardly spending any time with them. Although we all enjoyed a Saturday walk.

New flooring looks amazing and the sofas are perfect for relaxing on. Which I need, as I now ache all over.

We were wondering where you were.  I was hoping you weren't ill!

Oh, well done!  I would love to do that at our house, but i know I am not up to it any more.  Sad to say that at only 49, but true.  Various joints are giving out. :(

can we see some pics of the new, splendid floor?

Cato and Tara are very impressed that Donte and Lacey are able to supervise such big works. :)

I know what you mean. I could definatly notice the difference from laying the flooring this weekend compared to 16 years ago when we laid laminate down. Although we didn't lay it in the kitchen last time. My poor ankle is playing up now...

Yes, I'll take some pictures ?

Shorty and Sophie say:

Donte and Lacey....you were sooooo good and helpful in your own way.  Supervising from up above is tedious but you can see better up there and gently offer criticism.

Our Mom doesn't feel we can do that......what!  who doesn't want to be licked, followed, have us draped over your back as you work?

Mom and Dad seem to think there is a bitty leak in the upstairs bathroom.....big deal!  There isn't a pond there .....yet!  So they want to have the bathtub taken out and a stall shower put in.  A new floor and some hardware.  The contractor guy, Omar, said he LOVES dogs and that the job would take 10 days to 2 weeks.

For some reason Mom thinks that would be a "nightmare" (her words) - having workmen coming in at 8 AM, trudging up and down the stairs - in and outside.  Leaving doors open - going in and out to cut tile.

My Mom and Dad said they would flee the state - go to Oregon and let Omar and his gang have their way with the upstairs bathroom......so that's what we're going to do.  They won't even have a chance to see how good (not!) we could be.

We wish we could just stay home but more than that.......our Mama wishes she had a handy guy for "head of the household" but after 52 years she "picks her battles".
