SATURDAY 26th Mar: Big changes, better beds!

Tara:

i felt fine yesterday!  Don't know wot the fuss woz about.  But Cato was all sleepy and (Mum says I'm to use different words cos 'boring' is boring, but he WAS!) didn't want to play.  We went out for a quick walk, but then he went back to sleep again!  It isn't as much fun stomping on pythons and bears and stuff.  They don't fight back.

Today was much better, although Mum has been upstairs a LOT. :(

We went down lots of roads on our walk, and i had Dad on the lead, and Cato had Mum.  Which was good, cos he lets me pull more, and stops to let me sniff more too.  We walked past where Dad does his work thing.  And past Raymond the Thingy Terrier who owns the Motability shop.  And we went to the dogbiscuit coffee place, and got yummy biscuits, although Cato ate my crumbs.  And then we came home.

Cato:

Mum has been upstairs all day, banging and thumping and scraping.  Dad has been helping and carrying things downstairs and out to the bin. I heard them this morning before we got up, and they were planning it all.

Apparently they have been moving the Big Bed and our Little Beds and other stuff around and cleaning everything.  It has taken a very long time.  We have been left downstairs all the time, except for our walk. We won't see wot they've done til we go to bed tonight, but we will be sleeping on the other side of the room.  Don't know if i will like it.

We did a bit of shopping on our walk, and went to the butcher.  Yum.  We had to wait outside with Mum, but i definitely heard the word 'sausages'!

anyway, it is done now.  Mum has come downstairs and we can sit on her now, so she can't move to get her walk pictures. :)  so she is going to have to upload them later.  She is feeling guilty about not spending enough time with us, so hopefully i can have a good snooze before she does that. :)

I like how you described how you had mum and dad on the leads... Hehe

i can't wait to see photos of what your mum and dad have been upto.... It all sounds exciting.

I know exactly how your mum is feeling, that's what I was like the other week when laying the flooring...

Humph.  Yes indeed.  Very achey.  That bed is IMMOVEABLE without Dad's help.  Can't even budge it an inch.

But slightly bad news, i think.

remember when i said that this house had been 'modernised' by imbeciles?  Well, they blocked up the bedroom fireplaces completely.  No vents.  So no ventilation.  Which traditionally means a risk of damp from when cold air and rain fall down the chimney and there is no air circulating in the shaft to dry it out.

So we've moved the headboard away from the sealed off chimneybreast, and - guess what - the wall looks damp. :(

No damp smell.  No mould bloom.  Maybe now the air can circulate better, the wall will just dry out...  Fingers crossed.

Can't show you any bedroom pics today, because the light had gone by the time we finished, but we have a couple of walk pics.

This was when the dogbiscuits had arrived, but not yet been distributed.  But you could have guessed that, couldn't you?

they were watching very carefully to make sure the sausages were purchased correctly!

This is the rest of the street

I wonder that myself, often!  Lol

sometimes you see curtains and signs of life, but usually it looks like storage or admin space for the shop below.

Nothing like a hard days work.......Cato and Tara must be exhausted from listening to all the noise going on upstairs..:hysterical:........Sleep well tonight.

Love the pictures of your little town.......so quaint. I too was wondering if people lived upstairs of the store fronts. Looks like a place I would love to explore. Might find a hidden treasure somewhere...........I know the grass always looks cleaner on the other side of the fence but how nice to have your own butcher shop. A few years ago a really neat set of shops opened up close to us and it had a butcher shop.......to expensive and it was closed within 3 months.  Some of our grocery stores have a butcher on hand but it is not the same........to commercial and the quality of meat is just okay.....otherwise it is a trip to the big city.  Rest up Cato and Tara so you can lead Mum and Dad around maybe on a walk tomorrow.......

Here is the new bed arrangement.

I took the shelves out of the pine table unit thing, and made them 2 dens, which fit their beds perfectly.

Pros: looks nicer, probably warmer in the winter, closer to me in bed, and I can reach out and touch them.

Cons: Little Miss Mountain Goat can jump up onto the bed with no effort.  Sigh.  Oh, and at 4 am when I blunder out of bed to visit the bathroom I have to negotiate the barrier.

Will give it a week in the present setup, and see if it is workable.  If not, there is one other option we can try...

Oh wow I Love the little den you made them, I bet that is nice and cozy! But yeah I'd kill myself on that gate as much as I get up in the night!! Unless you could slide down and off the bottom of the bed, that might be an option?

Hahaha!  It won't last.  There will be empty cups, and dust and Mr C's socks all over the place in no time at all...

I love the new arrangements. But I was thinking they'd jump onto the bed... Hehe...

I like Vicky's idea of you sliding down to the foot of the bed and out...

We have now had 2 nights with the new arrangement.  I will let each of us answer for ourselves.

Tara:  It is ACE.  I get a privat girlz only den that stinky boy Cato can't get in!  And in the morning when Mum goes out for a widdle I can bounce - er... tiptoe over onto the bed.  There is this wood shelf bit thing on the side of the bed I can use as a step!   And I can go and tell Dad how much I love him!  All by myself.  He loves being licked awake!!! Cato can't climb up cos he is a wimp.  Dad LOVES it!  And then I get to snuggle on the bed til we go downstairs.

Cato: I am closer to Mum, which is nice, and I don't have Tara fidgeting and fussing all night, and I do like the den bit.  But I am the one near the window, and there might be a draft in the winter. :(  Mum says she will sort that out if it happens.  And I haven't howled in my sleep.  That happens if I don't feel secure.  I wish I could climb up like Tara does.  But Mum knows me, and loves me, and if I am still asleep when she comes back from the loo, she leaves me snoozing, and if I am awake, and looking at her, she scoops me up and we snuggle on the bed.

Mum:  I think we were ALL expecting Tara to do a Night Visit to the Big Bed, or something, or some little-girl-latenight-attention-seeking-drama, but so far so good.  At the moment, she is waiting until I wake up to join us, which is FAR better manners than expected. :roflmao: She loves me, but she is really a Daddy's Girl, so maybe the fact that she would have to clamber over Dragon Mum to get to Softie Dad is what is helping her manners!  The barrier is challenging, but I haven't kicked it or crashed into it yet.  I am sure it will happen one night, hopefully not when Dad has to get up at 4.30 am, but I sure it is inevitable that it will happen one day.  I like having them so close.

P.S. there are many things that Dad loves, including Tara, but being licked awake by an adoring bouncing over-excited brat is just not one of them...

Sounds like a winner for all.. I was just wondering how you could stop a draft from the window... Maybe a snuggle blanket... Or curtains up in their individual sleeping hole/hideout...

Now you could be talking about myself and Lacey. When you say Daddy's girl and being the Dragon Mum, that sums us up here... Haha..

But I bet you don't have a sofa that eats doggies... Oops.. I'm so not going to live that one down...
