SATURDAY 30th Apr: Bluebells, primroses, dandelions and tulips

Cato:  Mum and Dad put us in our crates for breakfast, and went out to eat. :(

But as soon as they came home, on with the leads and a nice walk!  Started with a trek to the butchers, where we waited outside with Mum.  and Tara was a pest.  Then we cut through the little Churchyard

Mum says these are bluebells just starting

and the fatty bushes did well through the winter.  yawn.

Then here is one of your palms @AuntAngel and some roses along the wall.  Mum sniffs the flowers whenever they are in bloom.

More street stuff, until we reached the BIG cemetery near home, where Mum went doolally over flowers.  Again.  Here they are:

Until FINALLY we got to OUR field and off lead and had a run.  I was a bit hot and tired by then, but I did a bit of bouncing.

Mum says the building work is going well.  Don't know how she knows.

Oh and this is that magnolia with hail scars on it.

I will leave Tara to tell you how horrible she was.  All the time.

 

Tara:

We had an ACE walk.  Lots of bouncing.  and there are Sausages for tea from nice Mr Butcher.

and this is in the cemetery place, when Mum stopped to take pics and I got bored, so I bounced on Cato.

And this is when Mum told me off. :(  She made the ack-ack-ack noise and I had to stop playing. :(

It was a loooong walk.  and now we are tired.  Cato is already snoring. :)

What a grand walk this morning.......I am so envious of you all......... a lot of history around your area........what is nice is you can enjoy the beauty of it all. We have foundations here to keep historical building standing but so many have been torn down and all is left is pictures to remember what was once there............ On our property their was a grist mill at one time but now gone.......our little town at one time was a busy community with the railroad coming thru to the clothing mills........Now you have to look at pictures to see what it once was..........so sad.......and only going to get worse as the town is broke......

Cato and Tara you have a nice nap and get ready for your next adventure with Mum and Dad.........

I love old cemeteries .......could walk around for hours.  I'm a California native and we just don't have really old, interesting buildings.  We took a trip to South Carolina and Georgia once.......such beautiful old architecture and the cemeteries are so interesting (and poignant).

Tara.......you are a stinker!

Cato: @Marlene  Thank you Auntie Marlene, but I am OK.  She IS a stinker.  And now she is a Tomboy Stinker, which means she is going to be silly about it for a day or two.  Remember the LEAPING DAY nonsense? and the PINK obsession.  Tomboying will be the same.  But don't worry about me fighting.  I always do one of three things.  I fight back, if I want.  Or I tell her off and make her back down.  Or I just lie there and let her get bored.  That is wot I was doing today.  It was too hot to be bothered.  So I didn't.  Normally Mum and Dad have a lead each, so they hold us apart.  But today when Mum was cameraing, Dad got distracted, and she ambushed me.

Mum: @Sophie's Haven :( sad about your town.  Where is the next living town?  A long drive?  Do you still have necessities like a hospital and food shops, within reach?  We live in such a different culture, I think.  In the UK, we have whole swathes of business types that struggle (pubs, petrol stations, chapels and post offices, for example).  They close down and stand empty for a while, but then very often someone comes along and opens up a different business on the spot, or converts the chapel or post office into a house.  Towns don't tend to close down, but we are often less dependent on a single industry, in a single town, I think.  Also we are much more densely populated, and have much more pressure for housing.  This is not a rich area, and there is a lot of unemployment but they stay here, rather than move away, because really there isn't much to move TO.  If you see what I mean?  we tend to walk the dogs in nice areas, partly because we like them, and they look nicer, but also because the nice areas are the ones with green spaces and parking, and maybe a cafe to sit in...

The fatsia bushes look lovely. Oh and thank you for the picture of the Trachycarpus ? This one is taller than mine, but very nice indeed. 

I enjoy all your pictures of the flowers, trees and bushes. 

My son loves the second picture of you both playing (fighting) while you are standing on your back legs. 

I Said I couldn't possibly choose, as I love them all :cheezy:

i actually had to trim the photo to get rid of peoples feet walking around the 'fighting' dogs

What has happen here over the years large stores come in to these communities on the out skirts of town and their products are less then the Mom and Pop stores in town that they go out of business because they can't compete. And over time the heart of town is full of empty store fronts. In the big cities they are revitalizing their downtowns but it takes good planning and lots of money.........where these small towns don't have the means.  We have about a 12 mile drive to do shopping.........60 to do any major shopping..........we have 3 small hospitals within 15 miles of us......We have what I call old time family politics......you will meet someone who has an uncle here and a sister here and Mom is in political position here and it all stays in the family.....plus some areas of the south if your not born and raised here your looked down upon......I am classified as a Damn Yankee as I moved here from the North........

.I am watching a show called YOU LIVE IN WHAT? Where people have made their home in a church, library, water tower, barn, warehouse, jail or pub.......I told my husband that is something we could do if we were younger in a heartbeat.........I am the type of person who would make a cozy home in a card board box if I had too.

The flowers are just gorgeous!  I especially love those tulips.  The cemetery is just amazing! I love to browse around in old cemeteries and see who is there and observing the types of markers each has.  It is especially helpful in doing genealogical research too.  We have some really nice old cemeteries here in South Carolina and in parts of Georgia.  I love the history here where I live.  

Cato and Tara, you are such little stinkers.  You are so cute!

I watch this show too and I just love it!  Amazing what they do to make these places their homes.  Very innovative.
