The Sully Plantation Flower Garden!

Ok, just for you Auntie Jeannie, and Of Course anyone else who wants to see it! ;)  Let's go see the Flower Garden!!

Ok so it's called a 'revival-style' flower garden, whatever that means. And it's made in the same style they made gardens back in the 18th century, ya know that box style, actually it's pretty cool the way they did gardens back then. This garden is a small version and it's located in part of the original two-acre garden! :dribble:WOW can you imagine a 2 acre garden? I wish we had one that big!! Oh and it's dedicated to the guy who was a benefactor and the first curator, that's what the plaque says.

They have Lots of flowers and herbs and i'm sure they did the planting in a certain way but i don't know it.. at least not yet, mommy bought a book and maybe that'll tell us! Anyway i'm hopeless on the flowers and herb names, cept of course roses and daisies -- mommy's favorites! They said Mrs Lee grew sweetbriers, tuberose, convolvulus, morning glory, and quamoclit (cardinal climber or cypress vine). Whatever those are, maybe they're here, I wouldn't know!! So i'm just gonna be quiet and let you look Auntie, i'm Sure you know the names of all of these!!

Pretty huh?! I just took a little break while you looked around! Let's go see that old timey sun dial thingy now!! :cheezy:

I'm like a kleptomanic.......wanting to steal everything I like.  When it comes to flowers, I want to cut a big bouquet!

My Gran used to nip a shoot off a plant she fancied and take it home and grow it... Lol

Thank You Missy for the garden tour.......you did an excellent job. I too would be wanting to snip a shoot off each plant and hope that it would grow in my gardens........can you just imagine how grand they were back in the day plus all the hard work getting them to that point.....I must confess I wanted to reach in and pull the weeds.......

I have a neighbor like that  -  she can take a pencil or a toothpick, plant it and it will grow.  I only have one very nice rose I did that with.......you would think I gave birth to that rose, I am SO proud of it!

Aw thank you Aunties! I too loved going through the gardens but the weeds drove me batty- somehow I can understand my own weeds but think they aren't supposed to have them in places like this! :hysterical:

Missy, what a lovely walk!  I love all of the flowers! Looks like you had a great time!  I really love the sun dial too.  I'm honestly with your Dad though.  I can't tell what time it is either by looking at it.  

I agree, Missy, that weeds are the pits.  Hate them.
