FRIDAY 9th September: Big Lake, donkeys missing!
Cato:
So Dad took us to the big lake park, cos it was so lovely. Sunny and windy and cool. And we hadn't been there in AGES. We had to leave Mum home on the computer but she says we can have an extra long walk tomorrow to make up. She has been missing our walks a lot!
So it was sooooo sniffy! This is that first VERY IMPORTANT SNIFF as you set off. Always tells us all sorts of IMPORTANT SNIFFY THINGS.
And we know the way, cos this is our favourite rooting.
But... oh no!!!
They aren't here! Where have all the donkeys gone!!!
And wot does this mean!?!
The donkey fence is down. They have disappeared. And their fence is wrecked!
Where can they be?
I looked EVERYWHERE!
Dad says he thinks they are on the beach giving rides to little humans, but even if that is true, they don't have a nice safe field-den to come back to! They need fences to feel safe. Oh dear. It is very worrying.
Of course, Tara doesn't help.
Tara:
My turn!
Cato was all bustley and sniffy and boring. No idea why he is so worried about those big old dangerous donkey-things. Me and Dad just walked off and left him when he was fussing about. But I think he found a bit of donkey poo, so that may explain it.
Anyway, I got bored with all the donkey-drama, and decided to bounce. It was nice and cool, so I got some lovely speed up. See? I look like I am flying!
I even bounced on Cato hard enough that he stopped obsessing about boring donkeys and chased me. Hahaha!
Dad found the swans. But he says he thinks the 6 babies are all grown up and gone. Don't know why they want to leave their swan-pack. Seems like a weird idea to me.
This is me watching out for that nasty black pigeon thing.
And me off sniffing interesting things while the short-arse stays on the path
Ducks. Dad only took this pic cos Mum asked him for more than just pics of me and Cato. No idea why.
Cato:
Me again. Tara got bored and went to sleep. All that bouncing on me, I 'spect.
This is the hay field. You would never know, would you? Last time we came through here it was all hard and yellow-brown and prickly on the knickers cos they had cut all the hay and left it to dry. Now it is all soft and green and fresh again.
This is where we clambered through. Dad left me to make my own way. It was difficult, but I didn't need a lift. Although if he had offered...
Ooh look! The lovely sniffy tunnel.
We will have to stop with the tunnelling as soon as the rain comes back. Even Tara can't cope with how wet and muddy it gets in there.
