Found a very good tip that I want to try using WD40 ( yes the lubricant) Especially preventing lime scrum from forming on shower doors as we have a lot of lime in our water. 

The wind shield idea is handy for not having to scrap the ice off in early mornings too

My best tip is getting a light handheld rechargeable vacuum (no wires)

Has anyone heard? I saw a commercial today for the Dyson 360 Eye ....Its a version of Robo and a whopping cost of £799.00 thats (981.01 US Dollars)

 

Whoooo I'd rather get on my hands and knees and sweep up myself! Lol

For many years I have used a clear shower curtain liner on a tension rod INSIDE the shower.  Just sweep it to one side if you don't want to see it when not in use.  You will never have to scrub mildew and lime build-up from the shower door again.  Once a month or so I throw the liner in the washer with hot water a little bleach and detergent and a white bath towel and any gunk will wash away.  The last house we were in was 18 yrs old when we sold it.  The glass shower door was the original and I only had to clean it with Windex.....no scrubbing.  Of course the tile and the grout were another story.  It's a personal thing but I'll never understand why anyone one wants a clear glass enclosure around a shower anyway!

I used to use Old English Lemon Oil back when we had a glass shower door.  Worked like a charm!

I remember the Old English polishes....mom swore by the real dark one for the old buffet and grandma's old pedal  sewing machine...nourished the wood and restored its beautify every time....

My go to cleaning agent is White Vinegar.......I use it in just about everything........I came across ways of scenting the vinegar. One jar is lemon and thyme....the other is lemon slices and rosemary.......the other is orange skins, cinnamon sticks and teaspoon of vanilla extract, the vanilla makes it look discolored. You leave them in the jars for 2 weeks to a month.......give the jar a shake each day. I am going on 2 weeks so they are slowly losing their fresh pretty color that they started out with....but I have cheated and took a sniff and you can still get smell a bit of vinegar you can also get a good strong smell of the herbs and citrus.......now the orange one looks pretty bad in color but so far is the strongest smelling.  In the end you stain the liquid thru a sieve and put in a spray bottle or in your cleaning solution...........The lemon/thyme I am going to use as a air spray.......the other two will use in  a cleaning solution........You fill the jars with skins or lemon slices and herbs of your liking and then fill the jar with vinegar.

Very unique idea on the vinegar.

The WD-40 takes heavy black scuff marks right off of vinyl flooring.

I recently discovered a vinegar spray in the stores that removes shower door scum.....amazing cleaning product without damage, love your idea about scenting it

Ever heard of Vinegar of the Four Thieves?

It is a herbal vinegar used since medieval times to combat plague and insects.

I made some up once, in my Herbal Phase (also a variety of other things including a stonking sherry based spiced mouthwash that knocked the socks off anything I have tried before or since).

As you can see, the book has been well loved.  See all the little nibble marks on the bottom edge and top right corner?  Those are Reginald tooth marks.

Reginald was a rat that I rescued from the back storeroom of a petshop in around 1995.  He was gorgeous.  He was black and white, fearless, and very sweet natured.  He was such a favourite that the staff had taken to letting him run around the storeroom when they were cleaning out the other pets, and a parrot bit him   So they took him off display while the huge great scabs on his back healed.  So, of course he came home with me.

Rats are pack animals too, and it was deeply distressing for him to be in isolation, so he adopted me as his pack member and we did EVERYTHING together.  He used to live on my shoulder, my lap, my pocket, or my desk.  Unless he was off clambering the curtains, or trying to nest inside the sofa, humping a teddy bear, digging in pot plants, or asleep beside my pillow.  I used to tip him into his cage when I left the house, and then let him out again when I came home.  

Actually, in terms of affection, snuggleability, intelligence and general gorgeousness, he was VERY like a Shih Tzu, and particularly like Cato.

But, being a rat, he lived a much shorter lifespan

@Jeannine ..is it just plain good old white vinegar you are using? or here you have the special "cleaning"kind of vinegar...

@Jo-Anne Just regular white vinegar...............I have been using it as my base in my shower cleaner and floor cleaner.

SHOWER CLEANER

1 CUP WHITE VINEGAR

2 CUP WATER

2 TEASPOON OF DAWN (THE BLUE KIND)

15 DROPS OF TEA TREE ESENTAIL OIL

I PUT MINE IN A GLASS BOTTLE AND USE DISH WAND SCRUBBIES......FILL THEM AND USE THIS IN MY SINKS AND TUB AND SHOWER.....GETS RID OF SOAP SCUM AND WATER DEPOSIT BUILD UP.

My bottle is just about empty.....I keep a wand in each of my bathrooms and this one goes under the sink......this stuff is great for keeping your skin matts and drain boards smelling fresh also. 

 

This is a 32 ounce bottle make a fill line for white vinegar and for water line.......then add 20 drops of tea tree essential oil and give a good shake. This is my wood floor cleaner. I have used so many different types of cleaners on my floors  and they leave a residue or streak so I came across this and made it and it works wonders. My floors come out nice and shiny and streak free. You can add any scent of essential oil you choose but tea tree oil has anti bacteria aids which is  the reason I use it.........plus the smell is pleasant...........these are two of my favorite cleaners...........

I am working now on replacing my dishwashing soap with a homemade one.......will let you know how that works.

I should probably order one for my daughter.....she fancies herself a "witchypoo" standing over a cauldron (or a juicer is the latest) concocting healthy ways of life while she drinks wine and munches on MJ laced cookies.

Made the Shower Cleaner..thanks Jeannine..it works great..and I love the smell..I used Tea Tree..now I am going to make the wood cleaner as well..the only thing I could not get here were those dish wand srubbies, they seem very handy with this though..

Ohhhhh I like the sound of this... 

I don't have Dawn dish wash soap. But I'm sure @PipsMom said that fairy is the uk equivalent,
