Thank you will pick some of this up next time! ? You guys are really making think about all the different bottles of detergent and crap I have under my kitchen sink. Not sure why, but the older I'm getting I like to try and use more natural and eco friendly resources to clean around the house. Can you give me a list of what you use and what I need in my cupboard. I'm hoping to cut down on lots of different bottles. 3 Quote Link to comment

I'm hoping to cut down on lots of different bottles. My cleaning cupboard is getting less and less of store bought and more home made......with simple ingredients. There use to be a product that when you took a shower that you would spray on the shower walls to remove soap scum and water streaks but have not seen it in the stores for years. I found this recipe that works just like the store bought product. SHOWER DAILEY CLEANER 1/2 CUP HYDROGEN PEROXIDE 1/2 CUP RUBBING ALCOHOL 1 TEASPOON DAWN DISH SOAP 1 TABLESPOON WHITE VINEGAR ( I USED MY SCENTED LEMON AND ROSEMARY MIXTURE) 2 CUPS WATER ADD ALL INGREDIENTS TO A SPRAY BOTTLE........AFTER SHOWERING SPRAY DOWN THE WALLS AND WALK AWAY........ 3 Quote Link to comment
Sophie's Haven 17,464 Posted March 6, 2017 Report Today is Monday wash day at my house......never wondered why but I always do my laundry on Monday's........I have used White Vinegar as my fabric softener for years and have been happy with the results. I will add a dryer sheet just for scent if I throw anything in the dryer.....my dryer sheet box is almost empty and thought I would find something that I could throw together that would be more cost effective.......along with no trash. FABRIC SOFTENER 6 CUPS WATER 3 CUPS WHITE VINEGAR 2 CUPS SUAVE ROSEMARY MINT CONDITIONER MIX ALL INGREDIENTS IN GALLON CONTAINER........STIR........DO NOT SHAKE AS IT WILL CAUSE FOAMING......USE IN YOUR RINSE CYCLE OR YOU CAN SPRITZ ON A WASH CLOTH AND TOSS IN YOUR DRYER. I HAVE MINE STORED IN PINT MASON JARS. Today is the first day that I have used it and I just went and took my load of undergarments (which I do not put in dryer) and I opened the lid of the washer and the smell of the rosemary mint was so pleasant..........now my laundry room smells of Rosemary Mint......fabric softener and room freshener all in one.......plus the undergarments had a nice feel to them......... 3 Quote Link to comment

Crinkly 15,586 Posted March 17, 2017 Report hey, did anyone's Herbalism recipe book arrive? And have you tried any of the ideas in it? Sorry if this is another derailment. Maybe we could have a new Old Bones thread, if anyone wants to compare notes? rather than derail this one further... 1 Quote Link to comment
