Emma

God! How I hate writing this entry.... It's been a week as of last night that you have gone missing and I can't believe you disappeared into mid air! You have always been my problem child but you were always loved, and you knew it. 15 yrs 4 months 11 days, and all but the 1st 8 weeks of your life... you were my Lil Em. Now you've left me guessing if you're someone else's Emma or if you have left us to join your sister, Baby, at the bridge. We've been through a lot together and I thank you for being there for me, this is not how it was supposed to end. I still have hope that I will find you, whether the outcome will be good or bad as I will not give up on you...just as I have never given up on you.

My Little Man...Happy Birthday!

On May 7th, 2015....a wonderful litter of puppies were born. It would be many weeks before I knew which one was going to be mine but I knew one would be going home with me. I've already picked a name for him, after one of my favorite children's books. 'Where The Wild Things Are' call name Max. To my surprise and delight, Pam who bred these wonderful puppies loved the idea of a wild theme...so they became the 'Wild" bunch.    Max was know as Evan at that time, and this is his 3 day old pics taken with Grandma Pam. It would still be 3 1/2 months till we got to go and pick him up, along with his brother Decker.
This little man, is such a big part of my life. He's always been a big boy .....and continues to be so. He's the smartest one as well but graceful he is not! I can't believe it's a year, not sure where the time has gone! I still see this little puppy every time I look at him! I just love him so much...

The Audition........

I went to the audition last night for the play. There were 7 of us there auditioning and 3 people to listen to us read, one being the director. I have never done this before and I felt a little out of place as I was the only first timer there . I also found out after I was the only one looking at the script for the first time as the others had known about this audition for at least a week if not longer and had received copies ahead of time . I had no clue before Saturday night that it was being held and to say I felt a little out of place was putting it mildly. The script had lots of directions written in-between the lines and it took a bit of work trying to figure out what I was supposed to read and not read . One of the characters was an actress who was involved in a scheme and was portraying 4 different women giving her 5 different characters in one, and I had to read for this , I was so confused . Each character she portrayed required a different voice and well, lets just say I am not very good at remembering who has to be what voice, lol. We'll see what happens  When I was leaving though just after 9pm, the snow had been coming down for awhile and there were whiteout conditions. I will tell you, that unless you've experienced it, it is not something you can ever fully understand. I was so scared driving home, thankful that I had only about a mile and half to go. There was just like a wall of white blowing at you and you could not tell where on the road you were driving . There were no tire tracks to follow, you could not decipher the shoulder from the road or what side of the road you were even on. Visibility was less then 10ft and thats being generous. Of course about 10 minutes after I got in, the snow had stopped and I heard later on that night we received 3 1/2 inches in 45 minutes, all complementry of Lake Ontario :)

Been a little quiet but still around...

I am happy to report that Dean has been healing just fine but what a very stressful few weeks this has been... It all started the Friday night before Dean's surgery. Accidents are just dumb, and boy did I have a doozy. I tripped late Friday night going into my bathroom and WHACK! went straight down. My jaw is still not right but I split my chin (which has healed) and I had a baseball (now its golf ball sized) lump on my right knee. Never mind that I couldn't cough or sneeze, due to the bruising of my boobs/chest! I had to be strong, cause Dean needed me and I did all I had to. His surgery went very well on that Monday and Tuesday, I brought him home. On Thursday 6/29...Dean had a visiting nurse come to check his drainage tubes. I had sequestered the Tzu Crew to a room and gated it so she could do her job without being assaulted for attention. I'm not sure but I believe that with all the commotion of protest, Decker at that time injured himself, but we don't know where...spine/hip/leg? Didn't think much of it, but he wouldn't jump up on the couch that night but thats not that odd. Friday, he wouldn't do stairs or jump up on anything at all. When I touched him all over, he just enjoyed it and didn't show any signs of pain or discomfort. Then, Sunday he stopped eating. Monday am, 1st thing I tried calling the vets but all local vets here were closed for the 4th holiday, so I had to wait for Wednesday...which we got in that morning. My Vet examined him very well, and again, no signs of anything bothering him... He gave me some pain meds and told me to keep an eye on him and call him in a couple of days. By Monday, we were back in another thorough exam and they drew blood to do a complete work up...all came back normal. Not sure what was going on or what happened but I am happy to report as of today, he's 90% back to normal. He's finally done stairs a few times and attempting to jump up on the couch. He still shys away from aggressive playing but he's at least showing interest again. Now, Emma... my old lady turned 15 last month. 2 weeks ago, Dean let them out to potty about 9:30pm and she came back walking sideways unable to put any weight on her back leg...and constant groaning. We brought her in and put her in her doggie bed where she continued to groan and cry. 20 mins later, we were at the emergency vet. We were there from 10:15 till about 2am. They took her back, gave her something for pain (more about that in a min) and xrayed her wrong (front) leg and her right leg. They thought for sure she tore a tendon, which would require surgery, but at her age she was not a good candidate for it. Finally after all those hours we got our bill... Walk in the door $110 x-ray $229 pretty pink ace bandage to wrap her leg $50 Shot for pain $30 meds $32 Total bill $451 I kid you not! Needless to say I was speechless. Now this pain shot...it more just immobilized her so when we took her home all she could do was barely pick her head up and her eyes were just open...she couldn't blink and the moaning and groaning were even worse. I was livid at that place and crying that Emma had no relief whatsoever! We sat up with her for about an hr about 3ish, and I said to Dean, you have to be up in an hr, you need to lay down. I left the lights and TV on for her and we went up. When he came down an hr later there was still no change. I got up and went down about 6:30 and Emma was not in her bed. She was hobbling around, due to the wrapped leg, like nothing happened. She ate her breakfast, pottyied  and went to lay down. Took her to my Vet 2 days later for a bandage change and brought her xray. He didn't see anything wrong with her. He still wrapped her leg and said we'll wait to see in 10 days to see how she is. Add to all of the above, the board going down, Jame's wife passing and not being able to reach him, and having to change hosting! Then stupid me gave the Tzu Crew some of my dinner Sat night, beef and wheat berries, and they all had diarrhea for me Sunday and part of Monday! Stress? There's not enough wine in the world to relieve all this!

Show Update!

Well 3 of 8 performances are done already, I'm surprised how fast it's going and yet so glad that we have a few very much needed days off . I love this experience but am totally exhausted, probably due to all the adrenalin we build up and expend each night. Friday's show was an extremly small audience, almost disappointing in a way but last night we sold the show out including a few extra chairs that they decided to add at the last minute in one of the ailses. It was amazing as you draw so much from the crowd. They just get so into booing the villains and cheering the heros and some of their comments are so funny, you just feed right off their lines . When we were done with the play, we came out to meet and greet our audience and its so awesome to hear the feedback, especially the kids who are so thrilled to meet you . We had received word that the next 2 Fridays and Saturdays are just about sold out, fewer then 10 tickets remaining at each as well as this Thursday's is about 3/4 sold. :buddies:

Monday's Rehearsal & Publicity Shoot

Well what can I say about tonight other then it was awesome! They took our head shots first and then we ran to get dressed real quick. It turns out the get-up I put together will end up being my costume with an embelishment of tinsel on the hems, and Leslie the costumer is looking for a black petticoat for me. So my costume will be black and red and decorated with silver. I had a red boa too and the other girls are in green/black and white/red and a multi color print, so we're all different and very colorful especially together. They took group shots and then proceeded to take scene shots. Then we ran through 10 scenes of the play uninterupted and it's really coming along quite well. I am so looking forward to this I know I'll miss it when it's done. I am getting more comfortable with improv and had the cast laughing at some of my antics which means I'm finally getting comfortable myself. Rehearsal will be a 1/2 hr earlier tomorrow. They also gave us postcards to mail out as invites to our friends and family. I have to work on a short funny bio and am having a hard time coming up with something witty, guess I'll have to work on that tomorrow at some point I also received a CD with 3 songs on it that I will have to learn and Nick the director says the ukuleles should be here by the end of the week, B)

My Tzu Crew are all bonded....they are the terror pack!

Well I know they are, and they've learned that there's strength in numbers as well as an intimidating stature. On the 4th of July, we were at the next door neighbors party for a bit with the tzu crew. They were finally relaxed and not afraid of Teddy, the neighbors 70 or so lb Goldendoodle. Max used to pee himself whenever Teddy came into our yard and went after him to play so this was real progress until.... Decker was sleeping next to my chair belly up. Teddy decided to put his nose in Decker's junk and well.... Next thing I know, Decker has this high pitched bark and starts chasing Teddy. Teddy wasn't sure what to do and then all of the other 4 joined in chasing Teddy. I never heard such a big dog emit such a high pitched cry! They never did anything to him but it scared the heck out of him. What a job getting the 5 to stop. This giant Muppet on steroids jumped into his Mom's lap crying.... Now, whenever they see Teddy trying to go into our yard and they're out....oh boy! It's like they're a gang protecting their turf! I tell Teddy to go home and he doesn't even dare cross the property line.... Yesterday morning, they didn't even think twice about chasing Charlie, my other neighbors dog back home, had me running after them in my jammies and bare foot! Charlie ran home and was crying and scratching at the door. They chased him about 1/2 way (he lives about 4 houses away) and then came back to me, while looking to make sure he wasn't coming back.... I can no longer say the words go home without the younger 4 going to look for a dog that doesn't belong. My neighbors are notorious in letting their dogs roam the circle (the 2 they chased are frequent visitors) decorating my and the other neighbors front and back areas.

Pictures, Well A Couple Of Official Unofficial

Okay, here are some bad pictures of the cast of the play. These were taken by the director and we were paying attention more to the photographer instead, but you get the idea of the cast here. Well our last week of rehearsals start Monday with the following Monday through Wednesday being full dress rehearsals followed by an unofficial performance for the seniors on Thursday the 4th. It has really snuck up quickly. We have convinced the director to let us play 2 songs and just sing the rest as there's no way we can do all 5 on the ukulele in time for the show, he agreed so all is good. I Wish You Enough

I received this in an e-mail and thought I'd like to share it with everyone. I think it has a lot of meaning, hope you enjoy reading it. Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough". The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom". They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?". Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?". "I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said. "When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'. May I ask what that means?". She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said , 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them". Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory. I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting. I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye She then began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them but then an entire life to forget them.

Another Crazy Venture For Me

Well many of you who know me know that I am very community oriented and involved in a community service club. Back in the Fall we had a couple of people from our local theater group come to speak at one of our dinner meetings. They had some of us participate in an improv type skit and since, Dick has been trying to get me to go to an audition . I missed the last one in December as I was in London and the play opened this weekend. I had gone with several members of my club and sure enough, I got to speak to Dick. Soooooo, tomorrow night auditions for the next production are being held and guess who's going to audition . I have never acted before and well, thought I'd give it a shot, lol. We'll see what happens and if I update this entry :)

Thought It Was Time To Give An Update On The Play

Well on Monday evening, I went to meet the cast of the play. We read through the entire thing and I'll have to say that I'm really starting to look forward to this, it will be quite funny . Now as for me, as of Monday night, I had zero in the way of lines, lol. All I knew was that I'd be playing a saloon girl and that things will come in time. I had to attend a blocking rehersal last night for the first and last scenes. I now have a name and several lines. My name is Tinsel , will have to work on changing that. Has to be a "T" and compliment Tiara and Trinket, as we are a threesome . We are together in everything we do on stage, and yes, I have to sing too although I'm not sure what, these poor people . If you have any suggestions for a glittery, sparkly "T" name, let me know. Oh and yes, I will be wearing a showgirl costume complete with fishnets, that will be interesting I don't meet again till next Wednesday evening, till then..........

Pre-op Visit Today

Well I went to the Doctors today for my pre-op visit, . He asks "so are you ready" and of course I start to laugh and ask "are you ready" . He said he's looking forward to it as it's a different surgery then what he commonly gets to do, it's not unfamiliar just not the same daily routine. So I was a good girl, got my blood drawn at the lab, have my pain perscription to fill which I'll do this weekend and now I just have to get my call from the surgi-center to find out what time next Thursday I need to be there. It seemed like it took forever to get here and now I'm just a week away from it , can't wait till it's done although the 2-3 weeks following will be the toughest for me to deal with. I don't like being restricted. Oh I asked how big he thought the nodule was and he said he's guessing close to 4 cms. We'll see next week I guess..........

Beware

Not my story but it's too good not to share!
Jesse Newton with Kelly McQueen Newton. August 9 at 7:23pm · Little Rock, AR ·   So, last week, something pretty tragic happened in our household. It's taken me until now to wrap my head around it and find the words to describe the horror. It started off simple enough - something that's probably happened to most of you. Sometime between midnight and 1:30am, our puppy Evie pooped on our rug in the living room. This is the only time she's done this, so it's probably just because we forgot to let her out before we went to bed that night. Now, if you have a detective's mind, you may be wondering how we know the poop occurred between midnight and 1:30am. We were asleep, so how do I know that time frame? Why, friends, that's because our Roomba runs at 1:30am every night, while we sleep. And it found the poop. And so begins the Pooptastrophe. The poohpocalypse. The pooppening. If you have a Roomba, please rid yourself of all distractions and absorb everything I'm about to tell you. Do not, under any circumstances, let your Roomba run over dog poop. If the unthinkable does happen, and your Roomba runs over dog poop, stop it immediately and do not let it continue the cleaning cycle. Because if that happens, it will spread the dog poop over every conceivable surface within its reach, resulting in a home that closely resembles a Jackson Pollock poop painting. It will be on your floorboards. It will be on your furniture legs. It will be on your carpets. It will be on your rugs. It will be on your kids' toy boxes. If it's near the floor, it will have poop on it. Those awesome wheels, which have a checkered surface for better traction, left 25-foot poop trails all over the house. Our lovable Roomba, who gets a careful cleaning every night, looked like it had been mudding. Yes, mudding - like what you do with a Jeep on a pipeline road. But in poop. Then, when your four-year-old gets up at 3am to crawl into your bed, you'll wonder why he smells like dog poop. And you'll walk into the living room. And you'll wonder why the floor feels slightly gritty. And you'll see a brown-encrusted, vaguely Roomba-shaped thing sitting in the middle of the floor with a glowing green light, like everything's okay. Like it's proud of itself. You were still half-asleep until this point, but now you wake up pretty damn quickly. And then the horror. Oh the horror. So, first you clean the child. You scrub the poop off his feet and put him back in bed. But you don't bother cleaning your own feet, because you know what's coming. It's inevitable, and it's coming at you like a freight train. Some folks would shrug their shoulders and get back in bed to deal with it in the morning. But you're not one of those people - you can't go to sleep with that war zone of poop in the living room. So you clean the Roomba. You toss it in the bathtub to let it soak. You pull it apart, piece-by-piece, wondering at what point you became an adult and assumed responsibility for 3:30am-Roomba-disassembly-poop-cleanups. By this point, the poop isn't just on your hands - it's smeared up to your elbows. You already heard the Roomba make that "whirlllllllllllllllll-boop-hisssssssss" noise that sounds like electronics dying, and you realize you forgot to pull the battery before getting it wet. More on that later. Oh, and you're not just using profanity - you're inventing new types of profanity. You're saying things that would make Satan shudder in revulsion. You hope your kid stayed in bed, because if he hears you talking like this, there's no way he's not ending up in prison. Then you get out the carpet shampooer. When you push it up to the rug - the rug that started it all - the shampooer just laughs at you. Because that rug is going in the trash, folks. But you shampoo it anyway, because your wife loved that damn rug, and you know she'll ask if you tried to clean it first. Then you get out the paper towel rolls, idly wondering if you should invest in paper towel stock, and you blow through three or four rolls wiping up poop. Then you get the spray bottle with bleach water and hose down the floor boards to let them soak, because the poop has already dried. Then out comes the steam mop, and you take care of those 25-ft poop trails. And then, because it's 6am, you go to bed. Let's finish this tomorrow, right? The next day, you finish taking the Roomba apart, scraping out all the tiny flecks of poop, and after watching a few Youtube instructional videos, you remove the motherboard to wash it with a toothbrush. Then you bake it in the oven to dry. You put it all back together, and of course it doesn't work. Because you heard the "whirlllllllllllllll-boop-hissssssss" noise when it died its poopy death in the bathtub. But you hoped that maybe the Roomba gods would have mercy on you. But there's a light at the end of the tunnel. After spending a week researching how to fix this damn $400 Roomba without spending $400 again - including refurb units, new motherboards, and new batteries - you finally decide to call the place where you bought it. That place called Hammacher Schlemmer. They have a funny name, but they have an awesome warranty. They claim it's for life, and it's for any reason. So I called them and told the truth. My Roomba found dog poop and almost precipitated World War III. And you know what they did? They offered to replace it. Yes, folks. They are replacing the Roomba that ran over dog poop and then died a poopy, watery death in the bathtub - by no fault of their own, of course. So, mad props to Hammacher Schlemmer. If you're buying anything expensive, and they sell it, I recommend buying it from them. And remember - don't let your Roomba run over dog poop. iRobot Hammacher Schlemmer

Set Build, Take 2

Okay so today's episode of set building/tech practice ended early but was still productive. What we did today was decided on who was going to be taking on or off what from the stage as well as who was going to be closing and reopening the curtains when. I've taken a couple of more shots of the stage so here is what the set will essentially look like

Update From London!

First please forgive any typos as I have had 4 hrs sleep in since Tues night with a very light 3 hrs in-between. What can I say, so far I'm having a great time although I am dead tired. I arrived yesterday at my hotel at 11 am their time (6am our) and I didn't sleep last night (I tried ) . I had walked all over the area yesterday and ended up last night at Harrods’s visiting Father Christmas (yes, I took my photo with him) and today I was all over London literally. I visited the Dungeons, saw Big Ben, Parliament, West Minister Abby, all the sites. Only went to the dungeons though and took a cruise on the river Thames, rode on the underground as I had enough of the bus . Tomorrow I plan on shopping on Oxford St and maybe visit Kensington Palace, which is where Princess Di lived. They have a museum. I am loving it here but there is just so much to do and unfortunately nothing stays opened very late. Most places close at 5 and shops close between 6 and 7. Only restaurants stay opened later. Will hope to wake and move earlier the next few days. Will try to update again soon, bye for now !

London Bound!

Well it's been awhile since I've blogged but thought this deserved an entry, ! Those of you who know me know that I had been planning to travel to Europe this past September with my brother. I was really looking forward to this trip only to have my brother take a new position with another company, unable to go away. This left me with the choice of either canceling or going alone. After much debating and finding an offer I couldn't refuse, I am leaving on the evening of Nov 30th and will be spending a week in London, alone . I am quite looking forward to going and am hoping to even possibly meet up with a couple of people from another board I'm on . Rose, how far are you from London? I made a promise to myself that I would go before the year was up so I am going to keep my promise to myself. I'd never break a promise to anyone so why break my own? I do have to share this. On Monday afternoon I went to the travel agency at the mall to see what they could do for me as I've shopped on line for a deal (wanted to know how good it really was) and one of the TV news crew was there. They ended up interviewing me for the news and did broadcast it. Of course I missed it but several people did see it as I have people coming up to me now asking if I booked the trip to London, lol. I did book the trip on line as it ended up being only 1/2 the cost , don't know why such a difference.

Wednesday Night's Rehearsal

Well last night was a good rehearsal, went from 7 till almost 10. We went over 3 different scenes and made some minor adjustments. It's really something to see how it's all pulling together and everyone really seems to be getting into their characters now. I found out that on Monday, it will be a full cast rehearsal and someone will be there to take publicity photos as well as cast head shots . What this means is we all have to pull together some type of costume and be dressed for the photos, this should be interesting as our costumer is not reachable . The director is working on getting a key to costume storage for us on Saturday some time so we can see if we can borrow some items and match it with what we have to work something out. I do so love a challenge  . The director is also requesting that me as well as my 2 counterparts learn how to play a Ukulele (I couldn't even spell it, never mind play it ) for our entertainment pieces I don't know about that but I'll try anything once. I have to go back tonight for a short rehearsal at 8, till then.......................

OK, when do you consider it a problem?

I think I'm in trouble, roflol. I have made friends with several sales associates in different stores and now when there's a huge sale, they call me up and ask about what I might be interested in. I had 2 call me up last week about sale items and they held things in the back room for me till I could get there to try them on . I think it's so sweet of them to do that but a girl can get into some serious trouble that way . I did get 3 pair of Cache jeans for 75% off which in itself is a major deal! As I stated, I think I'm in trouble but at least I'm saving money, sort of B)

Should I Be Flattered Or Creeped Out?

Well I can't help but to keep thinking about what happened to me the other weekend, not sure how I should feel about this. I was working at the store and this guy comes in with his girlfriend/wife, not sure. He's about 30 give or take a couple and as his gf/wife is looking at items in the store he approaches me. He says is your name Susan? I answer yes, he continues Susan (insert my last name here)? He continues "You don't remember me do you, my name is Lance (insert his last name) I manage the cemetery. I say "oh, hi I'm sorry I didn't recognize you." Now I'm feeling a little unsure. See I have spoken to this man twice in my life. First when I bought a plot for my Mom in the Spring of 1999 and the second time to bury her ashes in the Fall. I have not spoken to this man since and he remembers both my first and last name? Think my conversations combined equalled 20 mins and how long ago? Then he continues, "By the way isn't that you who walks in the mornings on (insert street name here) ? I answer um, yes. He says I haven't seen you in a while and I remind him it's still icy out, (was till this week) I don't walk under those conditions. First, is it just me or what, I feel a little creeped out and second, I think I need a new walking route. :D

Pancake Breakfast

Well I finally did it, pulled off the breakfast fundraiser for the volunteer ambulance. We had a great turnout from both our club and the ambulance volunteers although we were a little light on the amount of patrons. We still made money and had a very good time. They really enjoyed this event and had decided that if I agreed to lead this event again next year, they would provide me a co-chair from their organization to share the work load and equally divide the responsibilities. I'd love to do it again under those circumstances. My youth group came in shifts and provided face painting/temp tattoos for the kids, both young and young at heart as well. Two of the ambulance members made these jumbo, huge massive pancakes and decided to have a eat off contest between them, omg, I was just thankful the EMT people were there as I thought for sure someone was going to choke or get sick I am so happy this turned out so well as I had only 6 weeks to get everything planned out from start to finish. Next year I'll have more time to plan it better as this was only a thought to do in early Sept. Only down thing was I have an awful head cold, made sure I stood away from the food , no kitchen duty for me today, hehehe.
