Cato: Today was full of hills and sniffs and rhodododododendron mazes, and waiting for people, and Mum sleeping a lot.
It was another long trip in the car, which I don't really like, but it was worth it! We got to somewhere called Cragside https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/cragside, and went around the road on the estate. It is miles and miles and miles long, and has woods and lakes and benches, and stuff. It was all builded by this important man who liked water and got sunken b*ths and
Cato: My turn today. That is seaweed on either side of the road. Its a causeway thing, mum says. There was lots of water. And splooshing. But we got there without having to swim.
This is another one of Tara's castles. We didn't have to go round this one, though Mum and Dad did, one at a time, while we had fights and ate rabbit poo while sitting on the grass outside. That was fun.
Mum says this is the view from the top.
Aren't the people diddy?
Tara:
Me Today! Cato is asleep. Snoring. All floppy and worn out! Hahahaha!
Look where we went
Cliffs and castles and mountains and EVERYTHING!
and of course, I climbed EVERYTHING! See:
There were big rocky things
Mum said there wouldn't be mountains, didn't she? She was WRONG!!! hahahaha!
Dad kept trying to stop me climbing, but he gave up in the end. Cos climbing is irrisistibubble
Cato:
Today we went to a town called Alnwick to a bookshop that lets paws in. It was HUGE and very boring, except for the woman who gave me a great chin rub, and a man who gave Tara an ear rub. The books were very dull! Mum says it is the best bookshop ever. Inside an old train station and with a cafe and armchairs and stuff.
Then we saw chickens and geese and sheep and stuff at the Food Festival in town. Human food, not paw food.
This is us meeting the chicken
Cato: Oh Aunties, it was a longlonglong car drive! We had to stop three times and have a widdledrinktreat. three times! And Tara had a bit of a tizz when Dad went and got us burgers, but I was OK cos I knew he was coming back. We sat on the grass and all had burger. Although Mum and Dad's bits were huger than ours.
Then we arrived!!! It was weird. Cos nothing sniffed right. But the beach is good, and our den is good.
this is our fireplace. It is made of something called M
Tara: Mums on holiday! But I am NOT!!! Not fair!!!
We had to wait til Mum finished work yesterday before we could walk. On account of her holiday starting then. But I thought we woz going mountaining, on our hols! But she says we still have to get to the mountains, and that won't be til Saturday, so she is on hol but I am not.
But we went to Bear Woods in the Mist today, so it was OK. Damp sniffy and misty.
Cato: It was a good walk. Dad came too, and we wandered a
Cato: We had to walk early, on account of hotness today. So we took Dad down to PingPongPark and showed him all the sniffs. It was still misty cos of the earliness, but the sun came through after and was hothothot.
Tara: This is the park. You've seen it before. But it hasn't sniffed all misty before.
Cato: Dad! come and see this! It is REALLY interesting.
Tara: This white fluffy stuff is where someone brushed their dog. I like the thought of Mum groom
Mum: Hottest September day here since 1911. I kid you not. Luckily I was stuck inside on the computer all day, but it was far too hot for lunchtime walkies. So the little princess has been a bit restless (understatement) and the little prince has been very chilled and relaxed.
Mr C developed a yearning for one of his huge steak-fests, so we went out to a steakhouse pub after work to sit outside in the evening sun, me drinking pints of water, Mr C drinking pints of Carling, dogs wistfull
Tara:
Oh Aunties, it woz AWFUL!!!
Nice MrBoilerQuote man came round after breakfast. And Mum and Dad GRABBED us! and shut us in our crates!!! And the whole time he woz here, I whined and Cato yodelled and creaked! All we wanted woz to say hello, and play, and bounce, and show him our toys, and the garden, and climb on him, and sniff him PROPERLY, and lick him, and make sure he gave us ear rubs, and stuff. Yet Mum and Dad (even DAD!!!) imprisoned us, and ignored us, and Mum even sai
Today we saw real signs of the changing of the seasons.
Some of these pictures have come out like Rembrandt oil paintings (slightly fuzzy, and look best when you stand further away), and some are crisp and clear. I think it is the difference between the Auto Focus, and the zoom where I control the focusing. I definitely need more practice at these closeups!
I was wandering round thinking 'gosh, there is nothing to shoot', but then I noticed how subtly beautiful the light is, and how
Cato:
Oooh Aunties, today we met lots and lots of friends and new friends. The sun was out, the grass was wet, and we had a great walk. Of course, Mum was doing her pic stuff, but we were so busy meeting and sniffing and socialising with Auntie Jane that we didn't mind the piccing at all. It was a FabFabFab day!
Most important of all, Look! Foxy is BACK, and has been Autumn cleaning his den! It is all sniffy again, and neat and tidy.
We didn't meet Daisy this week b
Tara:
Mum said we would have a big walk today. I wanted to do Holiday Mountaineering Training. But it is all wet and soggy and horrible. Dad tried to make me go out to the bin with him, but I wouldn't. I stood in the door and watched him get wet! Hahaha!
Cato:
No walk today. We were going to have an extra long sniffy walk with Mum. She said so. But now I am snoozing all day instead.
Maybe tomorrow, with AuntieJane?
Mum:
no walk
Cato:
So Dad took us to the big lake park, cos it was so lovely. Sunny and windy and cool. And we hadn't been there in AGES. We had to leave Mum home on the computer but she says we can have an extra long walk tomorrow to make up. She has been missing our walks a lot!
So it was sooooo sniffy! This is that first VERY IMPORTANT SNIFF as you set off. Always tells us all sorts of IMPORTANT SNIFFY THINGS.
And we know the way, cos this is our favourite rooting.

Cato:
We've had a busybusybusy day! Mum couldn't walk us again, and Dad had to go workstuff, but it is a good job! If we had gone out, we might not have been around to mount the WindowCleaner Defence Manouevre! It was very exciting.
The first we knew of the attack was when we were snuggling with Mum on the sofa while she ate her lunch. There was terrible banging and clanking and dangerous shadows on the front window! I ran to the front door, and Tara climbed on the table behind th
Cato:
No walk yesterday. too hot.
But a nice Dad walk at Foxy park today. Mum was home computering, so we didn't have the flower hunt and stuff. So these pics are REALLY INTERESTING and SNIFFY
This is my fallen branch, wot everyone has widdled on as they arrive at the park. Veeeeery intererestink.
This is were Mum and AuntieJane saw that ill pigeon and didn't tell us about it!!! Tara thinks she can still smell it.
OK, so maybe you can smell pigeon. At le
Tara:
Auntie Jane couldn't meet us today. but it meant we could go for a big Pack Walk with Dad and Mum. And at least we got the sausages first this time!
This is me sitting waiting for my sausage. I have Bed Head, cos Dad rushed us out really early before Mum could do my hair. Mum says I still look cute though. I am sitting on the table bench. Hahaha! I hopped up when we were waiting for Dad to fetch his food, and no one told me to get down! lol.
This is when we got
Cato:
Pack walk! It was ACE!!! And not too hot. All grey and overcast, and it started to rain just at the end, which was nice and cool.
We had a consult and decided that we needed some beach after no proper walks for DAYS, and with the Mad Joggers taking over The Big Lake Park every Saturday morning, it had to be the Dune Beach. Yay!!!
This is us setting off.
Just to the right is a BIGBIGBIG hedge of roses, with convolvulus growing through it, and hips and flowers
Tara:
I've been chained to the desk for centuries!!! I can't help it if I am bored, can I? And going outside is a good Thing To Do When You Are Bored isn't it? And when you go out, you just HAVE to bark, don't you?
Anyway, Mum chained me ALL the TIME for DAYS (Mum: a couple of hours each day, Wed, Thur and Fri) cos it has been too hot to walk.
Not Fair!!!
Then when Dad came home, I was sooooo excited I had to be all barky again, cos I can't help myself, and then he c
Cato:
Dad was at work, so it was just Mum and us, but that means we don't have to worry about Dad getting lost, and we can sniff and explore and sniff and explore.
So Mum found the bear. We think. It doesn't really actually look like a bear. But we think it must be.
There are other animals too. See? These must be brothers to our squirrel and fox in Foxy Park!
and then we went into the woods... It was all hot and baking in the sun, and all
Cato:
Today is a Holiday for Banks, Mum says. Which means she doesn't have to do computer stuff all day. So we had a lovely Big Bed Snuggle, and a lie in. I rumbled and groaned and asked to be let up onto the bed really early (Mum 3am!) but they didn't know how early it was (Mum: yes I did!) and so I got away with it (Mum: only cos Dad had to go to work at 6am, and I didn't want to disturb him!).
Then we went to find Dad. Because of the Holiday, and the hothothot sun, Mum took us t
Cato:
Remember last week when Mum and AuntieJane got all cross and bothered about some flowerbed? Well this time Mum took some photos to show you. From all the flapping and squeaking and stuff they were very upset. But no one lifted me up to show me, so I didn't see.
But there was lots of sniffage around the wall of the raised bed, so I didn't really mind. And some recycling bins that smell fascinating. Mum says there may be rats and foxes that check out the bins at night. Isn'
Tara:
All of us together. They are the bestest walks, aren't they? Even when Cato slows us down. I am doing my athleticals whenever I can, you know. Cos our holiday is only a few sleeps away, and I need to get ready to climb mountains and stuff (Mum: 3 weeks to holiday. can't wait!).
So this is me on one of my benches.
And this is me hunting in a flowerbed. Dad told me off. But it was VERY sniffy.
This is after my hunt. Doesn't my bow look good?
Mum:
Town Park today. Haven't been there in ages, so it was lovely to see the flowers still in bloom. There was even a buddleia still going strong - but it was quite close to the lake, so I think it must get a lot more water than the plants in Foxy Park.
Aren't these lovely? So bright.
White hydrangea
Sorry about the focus on a couple of these. I was using the iphone again, and don't have a zoom or focus thingy.
Cato:
Dad took us for a Spa day today. And we stink of baby powder. It is very tiring. And Tara doesn't help. All I want to do is snooze. Mum says we can watch tv together when she has finished blogging.
Tara:
So this is me all fluffy and b*thed and stuff. And wearing my pink and white polka dot bow. I like this one. But when you are a Supermodel Ninja, I think that hair should be able to stay in place when you do cool ninja moves on slug-like wimpy Catos, don't yo
Tara:
Haha! Me and Dad went for a walk at FoxyPArk today, and Cato woz allowed to come too.
No pics cos Dad forgot the camera thing AND his phone at the same time. But it woz still fun. We had lots of bouncing, and it wozn't too hot, and we got a bit wet foots. And I kept an eye out for my friend Daisy, and my hero William, but they wozn't there.
We did meet lots of people though. A Westie, two shih Tzu Lhasa crosses, a Lab and a couple of others including a Beagle. I subm
